I went to see "Clash of the Titans" last night, and agree with pretty much everyone else, it was good but could've been better (even though I never saw the original.) Although the more I think about it, the more I like it (I just really wanted to see Iron Man 2, so I think I was being kind of biased against it )
There's a cameo by a certain robotic owl from the first film (go Bubo!).
Ah, so that's what it was! I saw it with a friend, and when that came up it was a "What in the world...?" kind of moment.
And the Pegaus was incredible! It just looked so natural...I love how they had him half running half flying along the cliffs...The scene when he rode him along the beach was beautiful as well. There was only one CGI element that kind of bugged me, and that was Zeus's armor. Other than that, it was fantastic
The one thing I didn't like was some of the characters seemed a little 2 dimensional, but it wasn't really horrible. My favorite was Draco though,

Just got home from Iron Man 2,
I thought it was a good movie- though not as good as the original. There was the obvious nod to which I loved! Of course there is the after credit scene which introduces .
Both deal with The Avengers. Can't wait for their turn at the movies
Of one thing I was confused, the timeline but I just went to IMDb and it cleared it up for me. Iron Man 2 takes place before, or during the first half of, The Incredible Hulk (2008) movie.
I saw Iron Man 2 last night. It's been over a year since I saw the first one, so I didn't remember everything that happened, but I enjoyed the movie. Downey Jr. does an excellent job as Tony Stark, who is an interesting character because often, his worst enemy is himself. I didn't think that the story was as strong as the first one, but it was still a good movie. I t was all very shiny. I wondered if maybe the movie worked its way into my good graces due to all the incredible visual effects and action sequences. Correct me if I'm wrong but
I saw Iron Man 2 last night. Correct me if I'm wrong but
SpoilerDidn't Stark and Pepper Potts get together at the end of the last movie? It's going to be boring if during every movie they fight and squabble and then kiss at the end. Cheap story writing.
They sure made it seem so, but I don't think it was a definite yes.
I'm going to see "Iron Man 2" tomorrow night with several of my siblings, so I'm glad to hear that it's good! We all enjoyed the first one so we're really looking forward to it's sequel.
I saw Iron Man 2 yesterday, and like the rest of you, I really liked it! I think it was lacking something the first movie had, but I can’t really put my finger on what it is. I really enjoyed it though!
The Value of myth is that it takes all the things you know and restores to them the rich significance which has been hidden by the veil of familiarity. C.S. Lewis
Kate, I didn't think
I went to see Iron Man 2 yesterday. First time I've been to a movie on premiere day since PC came out. Really enjoyed it. I thought the storyline was perhaps a little too cluttered and the character development was a bit lacking on the Black Widow's part. Still a pretty good movie though.
The last movie I saw was Alice in Wonderland. I was actually surprised when I saw it. I thought okay cool at first but thought it was going to be good instead of great. I can't wait till June 1st when it comes out on DVD.
I'm so buying it.
Long Live King Caspian & Queen Liliandil Forever!

Iron Man 2 was meh to me. I really enjoyed Sam Rockwell (whose one of my favorite actors) and Mickey Rourke. And of course Robert Downey Jr is always a treat. While there were moments that really worked and shined through, I think overall it was not as good as the first film. I did however like how they are moving the story along to build up to the 2012 Avengers film.
Of all the movies I've seen this year, I think it was miles above Clash of the Titans, but fell short of Shutter Island, How to Train Your Dragon, Nowhere Boy, and a certain movie whose title I can't say on these boards.
Ah, Inglorious Illegitimate Male Children? I know the one. Haven't seen it though. My favourites this year were Shutter Island and Book of Eli.
Currently watching:
Doctor Who - Season 11
Booky: Ok, thanks. I remember being under the impression that they were, but apparently my mind filled things in.
bkey: I've never seen Sam Rockwell in anything before, but I really enjoyed his performance. He was the sort of "villain" I both loved to hate and also just couldn't fully hate. He also reminded me of one of my favorite professors.
W4J: Nice. At first I was very confused about the title of the movie and then I got it and laughed.
bkey: I've never seen Sam Rockwell in anything before, but I really enjoyed his performance.
you haven't seen him in anything?!
I recommend: The Green Mile, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, Frost/Nixon, Moon
Those are definite must sees, they are all terrific movies, even if one or another might seem slow at any given moment. Rockwell's performance in Iron Man 2 is nothing next to those.
Rockwell was also wonderful in Lawn Dogs. That, The Green Mile and Moon are my favorite performances of his. He's definitely one of the better actors working today
I still haven't seen Iron Man 2, I need to take a break from university work and get to the cinema!
There is a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in.
Ah yes. Rockwell is brilliant in Moon. He should've been nominated for the Academy Award last year. If it weren't such a low budget film I'm sure the studio would have made a campaign effort for him, oh well. I actually haven't seen The Green Mile, but he's excellent in The Assassination of Jesse James, as are Brad Pitt and Casey Affleck.
To bring this post back to relevancy, I agree with you narnian1 that his performance in Iron Man 2 isn't the same caliber as some of his other work, but given the source material for IM2, that can almost be expected. Regardless, his Justin Hammer was one of my favorite aspects of the movie. It was great to see him hold his own against RDJ, and I caught myself several times actually rooting for him and Whiplash (Mickey Rourke is another personal favorite of mine) to get the upper hand on Tony.
