I knew Yogi Bear was going to be terrible just watching the trailer. Please tell me there's not going to be a sequel.
While on the talk of a terrible CGI/ Live Action Hybrid based on a cartoon( I mostly had hatred toward Yogi because it drew more kids to it than VDT, though I don't think many of us on here liked VDT much better. ) I actually have one cartoon based movie that I thought was at least cute. It's called Underdog. I was really bored one day, so I found Underdog playing on Disney Channel. The plot is rather simple, and there is a little childish humor in there, but at least it is tolerable.
Oh yeah, and Peter Dinklage plays the villain.
I've seen enough bad movies to know one when I see it. Yogi Bear is one I have deliberately avoided. Trailers usually show the best stuff and if that trailer was the 'best' it had to offer, I seek to be sure NOT to see it.
Be watching for the release of my spiritual warfare novel under a new title: "Call to Arms" by OakTara Publishing. A sequel (title TBD) will shortly follow.
I was watching some kids tonight and we watched "Yogi Bear". oh wow. that as to be the worst movie I have ever seen it was a cross between Sesame Street and "Firehouse Dog" the plot line needed help and the acting was really lame (IMO!)
just my two cents!
When I saw the trailer I immediately thought 'child's movie', aged 7 and under, and I'm sure little kids loved it. Did it have singalongs and dancing with that?
I agree that the Yogi Bear trailers looked pathetic, and so avoided it. Hopefully I'll never see it.
But I did see Underdog about a year ago, and while it was often rather silly (:P), it was also funny and entertaining. Not sure that I want to watch it again, but I did enjoy it.

I saw a Yogi Bear trailer when we went to go see Dawn Treader. To quote someone in our group, "It looked like they were trying to be funny, but failed..." It looked really, really lame. What ever happened to decent children's entertainment?

Yeah, when you try to force make it comedic there is only one word to describe it: FAIL!!!! Like many others, I WON'T be seeing Yogi Bear. I did like the cartoon version when I was a kid but I don't know which is worse, Yogi Bear or Garfield (let alone Garfield: Tale of Two Kitties). I don't plan on seeing either, even to see how bad they are.

*sigh* Now I HAVE to see this film! If only to confirm if it is truly that bad

Valiant Lucy and some others sparked my interested in the following movie.
I just watched Wild Target. It's a British hit-man comedy with miss-matched, colourful characters, quirky drama and quality acting from the likes of Bill Nighy, the beautiful Emily Blunt, Rupert Grint. They have such great chemistry! Martin Freeman is also very good but he plays a smaller role. The script is decent and the movie features some great music. All round a very enjoyable movie.
Warning: Not for children - contains some violence, sexual references and brief language. 8/10
Currently watching:
Doctor Who - Season 11
waggawerewolf27: no singing, but there's a scene where Yogi and Booboo start dancing to some really dumb music...yeah, it's as bad as it sounds

HEY! Garfield 2 was cool...it was in ENGLAND! just teasing.
(Hewitt's dresses could have been much higher and longer though...)
Odie was cute.

Fencer. The cartoon versions of things being made today are actually enjoyable (Smurfs being one of them, although I did not watch that cartoon.) Garfield... O.O
SL... all the best.
There's the thing - There's an ally called Booboo with a squeaky, nasaly voice. When there's something like that in a film, you know it fails from the foundational basis. [/hate for Yogi Bear...]
*really should add more substance to this*

There's a scene in "Zombieland" where Bill Murray, playing himself, has been shot and is on his deathbed. The other characters cluster around him, and one asks if he had any regrets in his life.
He manages to breathe out the word "...Garfield..." before dying, and everyone nods sympathetically.
The difference is that people wanted to hear the stories, whereas I never met anyone who wanted to read the essays
Greymouser, the whole cameo of Bill Murray in the movie was a total win, in my humble opinion.
Yogi Bear is kind of an older cartoon, and I think the last time I saw him active in any kind of cartoon anywhere was the early 80's, and I think it was during a Laff-a-Lympics episode. They may air old episodes on Cartoon Network or something, but if they have I've never seen it. So I'm kinda surprised anyone even knows who Yogi Bear is since I doubt most would probably remember Jabberjaw ,the Hair Bears, Snaggletooth, Huckleberry Hound, or who knows how many other Saturday morning cartoon characters from back in the day. Yogi comes close almost to predating me, and I'm ancient (by NWeb standards )!
