So has anyone seen Soul Surfer or The Christmas Bunny

The Christmas Bunny? Is that that partially animated/partially live-action movie about the boy who stays with his grandmother and has adventures in the attic near Christmas? I saw a movie like that recently, but I'm not sure if it's the same you're thinking of.

Nope, it's fully live action. From what I gather it's about a girl who goes to live with a foster family and her rabbit...

Oh, wow. I know the girl who stars in that movie. That's so weird that you're talking about it on here.

Sandy, I know what you mean about Horror films. :P I've only seen a small handful of them that I like, though.

You may like Alien, Aliens, The Howling, Halloween (1978), The Fog (1980) and Dog Soldiers. :)

^^ All of these are more suspense/character driven horror films and most of them feature cool creature effects. :D Anyway, all of these are R rated and feature moderate gore and a good deal of language. Halloween also has some slight nudity.

Ooooh! Sounds interesting :>. Thanks though! I am quite familiar with Halloween. Just little of it. :D Wait, have you watched the movie with thirteen ghosts in a house etc? If yes, YOU ROCK. m/.

Shadowlander: I've watched 28 Days later. It really gives me the creeps yet it enlightens my mood. :D It's hard to survive with

Spoiler
zombies who run very fast. Wait, are they zombies? Cause zombies only walk, but run? That's really scary

I just watched The Eagle. It was... interesting. I loved the scenery and the costumes, the soundtrack and Jamie Bell's acting. The rating was perfect, the dialog was generally acceptable -

Spoiler
"How many behind me?" :p The highlight.

However, the plot was at times so ludicrous that I almost laughed out loud.
Marcus looks like a complete idiot,

Spoiler
constantly bursting out in Latin in front of anyone, threatening random tribes-persons, and then, to crown it all, charging alone and unarmed towards the Eagle amidst the drunken and rather frenzied Seal People.
~x( NEVER would Rosemary Sutcliff's Marcus commit just a blatant act of stupidity. :-o
The very worst bit of silliness, however, was when
Spoiler
the survivors of the 9th Legion defeat the Seal People. And then they sit around and burn poor Guern's remains. How about running for your life?! It's not as if the Seal People were the only tribe around.

Such horrible, sad miscarriages of reality. 8-|

My parents bought several DVDs from Family Christian Bookstore last week and we finally watched one of them. The Widow's Might is about a pair of young amateur filmmakers who during a film contest hear about a elderly widow whose property taxes have suddenly skyrocketed for the purpose of expanding to commercial real estate. For their final video for the competition the filmmakers decide to address the issue by making a western musical to tell the widow's story. But fierce opposition arises when a rival in the competition, also a reporter for the local news, puts his own twist on things.

I was impressed by this movie. The characters are Christian but it is not an overtly Christian movie that preaches at you. I wouldn't call the acting Oscar worthy but I also would not call it Razzy worthy either. The score is really good and it did win a few awards (I have to go look them up). So there are good Christian movies out there aside from the Sherwood Productions (Flywheel, Facing the Giants, Fireproof and the upcoming Courageous).

Be watching for the release of my spiritual warfare novel under a new title: "Call to Arms" by OakTara Publishing. A sequel (title TBD) will shortly follow.

I'll see if Netflix has The Widow's Might, it sounds interesting.
The Grace Card looks like a good movie too, however it's currently on a long wait on Netflix.

You make it sound so...so...so epic! ;))

I've watched 28 Days later. It really gives me the creeps yet it enlightens my mood.

What a great movie that is, isn't it? :D The "zombies" in the film aren't undead but rather the result of a contagion, which is why they're still fast. In traditional zombie movies zombies move so slow because they're...well...dead. Rigor mortis probably plays into it a great deal too. ;)) I have not seen 28 Days Later's sequel, 28 Weeks Later. If you do please let me know how it is. :D

Despite 28 Days Later's classification as a horror film it's as much about finding, for lack of a better word, family. Serena and Jim are loners of a sort in a world gone mad, and when they meet up and join with Brendan Gleeson and his daughter they find themselves growing more close knit and becoming happy. Which is why when they reach Manchester things go horribly wrong on more than one level. :( Just a great film all the way around. :)

You've seen Halloween? Did you know that John Carpenter created the iconic soundtrack from that film by goofing off on the piano one day in the span of 15-20 minutes? ;)) That movie terrified me when I was a kid.

28 Days Later is superior to it's sequel 28 Weeks Later. More blood and gore, more and faster running Infected do not make a scary or very interesting movie. The first movie had a less is more approach and it was terrifying. The second is mediocre (but the first 15mins or so are brilliant).

Hmm... Fencer. I'm not sure I'd call Flywheel, Facing the Giants and Fireproof 'good' Christian movies but the latter was decent.

What I want to know is why do Christian movies all seem to have this colour saturation that makes the movie look silly and fairytale-like? Anyone know what I mean? The lighting is also overdone. This sort of thing works when it's appropriate - eg. the fairytale-like detective drama/comedy Pushing Daises but it doesn't work well for other things.

Good one, Booky! Ridiculous but there's possibly some truth to it. I mean shadows do evoke the morally grey areas that Christian movies don't want to mention. :p =))

I just saw "Hachi" for the first time tonight. Saw it with the family. Loved it! Beautiful movie, though sad as well. I also loved the score, perfect for the story being given. For an hour and a half nothing much happens... and then it ends. However, through all that nothing an amazing story about love and faithfulness is being told. I highly recommended, and it's rated G.

I just watched a Disney Channel Original movie called "Going To The Mat" starring Andrew Lawrence. it was amazing. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. and from the first few seconds, I was hooked. I watched it straight through, my eyes glued on the screen and I was rooting for the characters. it was so brilliantly written/directed/acted/produced, I had to remind myself that this was a made-for-TV movie made by Disney. but it didn't feel like one.I could go on and on about it. I don;t know why it excited me so much, but it did :D it was so epic! :D
Andrew Lawrence was perfect for the main character. he plays a blind teen named Jace who moves from NY to Utah and tries to fit into school and desperately wants people to look at him and see more than just a blind kid. in an attempt to fit in, Jace tries out for the school's wrestling team - and excels in amazing ways.
trust me, the movie is even better than my synopsis sounds - I promise. check it out, and who knows? you might get hooked like I did. it's worth it :D
