I'm afraid I have to agree with narnian1 and W4J. After viewing the trailer I see absolutely nothing in common between the two films other than there's some teens (or at least people that look like teens) starring in the film. I'm highly doubtful my wife would let me get this one past the threshold of the door, even if I wanted to rent it. I'm not familiar with the source material and I've not heard of this film before, but "uplifting" is not the tone I get from the trailer. More like...unsettling.

Not seeing any similarities either. I'm not one that rejects dark fantasy just because it's dark, but that doesn't really look like my thing.
I'm not one to yell 'Look! An evil, occult movie!' without researching something first but I'm not going to lie - judging by the trailer, the movie looks quite dodgy in the spirituality department. Also, it doesn't look very well made and the themes are certainly not for 'all ages'.
LWW06,
I'm thinking you're trying to bait us. Here's why. The movies are nothing alike. It seems you're trying to promote your movie. Finally, who even talks like this?
That is not much of an answer, tell me why you think so....
Is it not the case that both books and both films explore the liminality of our human condition in relation to the fantastic and the imaginary valueing the experience that transcends the material condition of human existence.

I saw the trailer, but I wasn't able to see it with sound for various reasons. Visually, it looks interesting, but it didn't really strike my fancy enough to see it. Also, it didn't look a lot like CoN any more then any other fantasy movie. A lot of fantasy will have similairities, but I didn't realy see any extremely deep ones between this movie and CoN.

I am not saying that the two movies are identical, of course they have some obvious differences but I still believe that inherently there is something about the dichotomy between realness and fantasy that is the essence of both films that i can trace equally in Narnia and in Krabat.

That's a really honest and sincere answer, I appreciate it. Unfortunately the screening is tonight and in London so I believe you can't make it to it. But I would suggest you try watching Krabat when it gets released in DVD because i see similarities more in the moral themes and the humanness of the characters.
Um, no, I can't make it to London for tonight, since I happen to live in Canada...And I don't really think I'll see it on dvd, didn't look like my type of movie.
I posted about Fantastic Mr Fox a page or two ago...has anyone seen it?

This past week I got to see both North & South and Wives and Daughters. I watched them with my Mom, Scarlet, and my younger sister. North & South was definitely our favorite of the two.*adds to wishlist* As you can see I have already change my avatar to one of Margaret. I think North & South is almost as good as Jane Eyre, which is my all time favorite BBC mini series.
I watched Wives and Daughters because my pen-pal said it's her favorite movie and it is really good, but I don't think it will ever be a favorite of my sisters and I.

Yes, I saw rented it. Loved it. Bought it. That was a year ago. It's not the type of animation I usually watch, but it was pleasant. Very nice story. I'm not familiar with the director's work.
I'm so glad you were able to see W&D and N&S, SnowAngel. I love all period mini-series's, and N&S is my favorite movie of all time. The instant I saw it, I fell in love. I enjoyed W&D as well, but the ending made me SOOO mad. Very unsatisfying.
I watched Kit Kittredge for the second time, the other day. While it is good for a few laughs, the acting is deplorable, and story line is cliche, and it's not really worth it.

So am I. The more I watch the period mini-series, the more I like them. Although I definitely like some more than others. I would have to say that N&S and Jane Eyre are my favorite BBC mini-series, although neither is my favorite mini-series. That would have to be Band of Brothers, because it's just awesome and WWII is one of my favorite times in history. Plus I watch it with my older brother.
I thought the ending for Wives and Daughters was kind of odd.
I'm off to watch the Marx Brothers' Monkey Business with my siblings.

I watched The Adjustment Bureau today with my family. ... I didn't like it. The CGI and cinematography was really all I could enjoy about it. And the Sci/Fiction elements.
I wasn't so fond of Emily Blunt. She looks a little older than the guy, and I don't know... Their relationship came off, to me, as mainly based on physical aspects.
Further than that, though, even though that "God" was never mentioned, was it a sly way to imply that God/divine beings of any kind have a plan for people's relationships and even though Man might want to be with someone, God dictates who they get to be with because of "the plan."? And was it a way to show that, "oh, because Man knows better, he can weasel his way out of anything, because Man is supreme."? If that's what the director was trying to portray, obviously that is a flawed representation of God. But...yeah...it's really humanistic.
God has plans for our life, but they are for our betterment and more importantly, His glory. Not just because He has fun sitting in the Big Chair and making people do what He wants them to do.
On another note, we saw Taken last week. I really liked that movie. Liam Neeson is so amazing beyond words in that one. I know that in the fight sequences, he only got hurt once, but it saved me a lot of disappointment that he didn't get badly hurt. The one thing that I see others have mentioned is that Kim's recovery was not shown and the ending was a little less than satisfactory. Otherwise, though, that one is a favourite now. Liam Neeson=awesomeness.

I thought The Adjustment Bureau was great. I've been meaning to buy it. As for you're "spoiler", I don't get it. I respect it of course, but it's not just movies, (or TV)- it's life. It happens every day.
Which brings me to Taken, I haven't seen it. Nor do I want to see it. I've seen the parental guide in IMDb and that was enough. I'm surprised you would enjoy this, given your comment on TAB.
Well, in TAB, nothing happend as a result to them doing that. Usually in real life, it isn't all flowers and happiness when someone does that. But anywho, that wasn't my main reason--I know it happens, but I didn't like the movie portrayed that as love when that's far from what real love is.
My parents forwarded things that would be inappropriate for my sister and I for TAB and Taken. Taken was more about a father's love for his daughter, which is why I enjoyed it. I did not enjoy it for it's content. The verb "enjoy" actually does not fit here. It was more like, the film was a unique film that I liked. I did not "enjoy" it in the sense of, "Whoa! I'm going to see that one every day!" It was more, "That was a very thought-provoking film that one viewing is enough for." I doubt I'll see Taken again, but I liked it, just not in the same way I like... my favourite Pixars, or *is trying to think of a live-action movie* uh... well, I think you know what I mean.

Ok, I understand that definition of "enjoy" perfectly well because I use it for many movies, such as Black Swan- yet I know I won't see it again.
As for TAB, I didn't think it portrayed "that" as love, but I understand your view and agree that love is so much more. I saw it more as two people fighting to be with each other against all odds. The final scene I didn't like so much, it would have been perfectly understood without it.
