It was for a lot of people, which is why it was like a ghost town when I went out But it's not something I'm personally interested in.
There is a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in.
At first I thought, it's just another wedding, nothing special. But then when I started watching it, I was hooked. So yes, I watched some of it though school got in the way.

I wasn't looking forward to the wedding or anything, but then mom turned it on and I couldn't help watching. It was a beautiful moment and I got swept away by the magic. I love Kate's dress. She really looked liked a princess.
...so I ended up watching the highlights afterward, right before I left for my exam. I'll admit it, I liked it, though I couldn't help but feel sad when they showed clips of Diana. Mom told me a lot about her after the wedding was over, and she seemed like such a beautiful person, both inside and out.
I have to admit it, I LOVED Kate's dress. I have to admit to you that when all of the guests came in I just about died laughing at some of the hats they were wearing.
Congrats to the new happily-married couple!
I just heard of it today. But I might see it on YouTube...honestly, I have no clue what's going on. Two people (royals?) are getting married. And someone said it was a beautiful wedding. Hm....??

He's a royal, and she was a commoner...part of the reason why many people wanted to watch - to witness her becoming a royal in front of their eyes. A true life fairytale!
I'd use the word 'commoner' very loosely when regarding Kate Middleton
I didn't watch it, I went and had a coffee and the city was silent, it was very nice
Umm.....wealthy commoner?!?!

Just so you all know, it's Catherine, not Kate. The media invented "Kate", but no one calls her that. Actually, to be even more accurate, one should address her as Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge.
Being monarchists, my siblings and I awoke at 1:30 a.m. EST and watched almost all the coverage from 2 a.m. onwards. Thankfully we were able to see the BBC's coverage of it, which was excellent. Needless to say, we enjoyed it.

I call her 'Duchess Catherine' now. It bugs me that people (the media) are still calling her "Kate".

"Duchess Catherine" sounds nice, I feel uncomfortable calling her simply "Catherine" because she is royalty now, but I cannot exactly call her "Princess Catherine" because that's not her title, so I think I might go with "Duchess Catherine" as well. I completely agree about "Kate", though. When they first announced their engagement back in November (how I remember that day!) I called her "Kate", but I've since stopped. Besides, "Catherine" sounds so much more regal, whereas "Kate" is.... ordinary.

Yeah, I hear some people calling her "Princess Catherine" and that upsets me too because she is technically NOT a princess! She is Her Royal Highness Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, no "princess" anywhere in there!
I called her "Kate" all the way up until the ceremony, then I informed everyone in my house that she is to be referred to as Duchess Catherine now!
I hope everybody else catches on!

I also heard comments on the BBC coverage clarifying her title as Duchess rather than Princess.
Some friends and I were discussing the line of succession, so I found this list online. (It's fun to note that 2 of those very cute little bridesmaids - Lady Louise Windsor and Margarita Armstrong-Jones - are 9th and 16th in line, respectively).
There's also a FAQ link on the left sidebar of that page that offers some other info to people like me who don't know much about this stuff.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
Thanks for the list!
Interesting to see that some people far down the line are actually in countries such as Norway and Romania!

I find it interesting that some of you don't like referring to her as simply Catherine or Kate. I see no problem referring to her that way. Maybe because I don't live in the UK. But then, I also frequently refer to our president as simply "Obama" even though my dad doesn't like it. He says we should refer to his as "the President" or "Mr. Obama" or "President Obama." Of course, if I met either of them in real life I'd call them by a proper title.
I wonder why some people have no problem with calling people by their regular names while others feel uncomfortable about it.
I don't even live in U.K. - I live in America!
I call her Duchess Catherine because, in the U.K. (and commonwealth countries?) it is not proper and actually can be considered insulting since she is a royal now. You would call a "commoner" just Kate. I mean, you wouldn't call Prince William just William, would you?!

I agree with mm1991, one would not call Prince William simply "William". One ought not to at least. I think what people forget is that they are not some other mere celebrity, but the royal family, part of an ancient and venerable institution, and also, specifically, Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge, will be our future King and Queen someday. They are not mere commoners, and should not be treated in such familiar and casual ways (even if those who do so do it without the slightest intentions to be disrespectful or rude).
It is amazing to see how many people from foreign countries are in the line of succession to the throne of Great Britain and the Empire, that really all goes back to the days of Queen Victoria. She had nine children or so, and her daughters and sons married into many different kingdoms and countries. At one point in time she almost literally was the Grandmother to all of the future kings and queens of Europe. (Prussia which became Germany was the most notable one, of course. The Kaiser, with whom Great Britain fought in World War I was Victoria's grandson, for instance).

I mean, you wouldn't call Prince William just William, would you?!
I certainly would! I would never call someone that to their face, though. If I ever met him, I would call him Prince William or probably "Your highness". Same with Obama, I'd call him Mr. President or something. And even regular adults I know: I may call them "John" when they're not present but if I were to talk to them face to face, I would call them "Mr. Doe". Unless of course, they are someone whom I know well enough that I'm on a first-name basis with them.
What I found interesting was that some of you don't feel comfortable calling people by their first names even when they are not present. I don't think it's bad or anything, I just found it interesting.
