@Aravanna: Why not call the second book simply, Eternal Generation? Does "Lineage of the Dragon" have to go before the title? People are going to shorten it anyhow when they read it.
I don't usually say, "I'm reading 'The Chronicles of Narnia: The Horse and His Boy' " When something asks me which book I'm reading. I'll generally say, " 'The Horse and His Boy'." I know that's a series name, but I like Eternal Generation on it's own best of all.

Simply follow where I lead;
let me teach you how to dance."
Thanks for the ideas on titles, everyone!
Alyosha and Queen Susan, I love the black-and-white on both your covers! It looks very intriguing.
ForeverFan, lovely cover! I especially like "The End" written between the buildings.
And act out scenes while vacuuming. Including accents. Quietly, but still.
Same here, either vacuuming or cleaning the bathroom. I've staged full action scenes in the bathroom before.
*joins everyone who writes in their head and on class notes* Aravanna, I've also had someone look at my notes and find a random character biography on the back of a page.
Here's two experimental covers:
Not too sure about the title (I think I've thought about it too much and lost any objective opinion), so I'd really welcome any comments and CC!

Oooh this looks like a lot of fun! I've been hearing about NaNoWriMo on here for several years, but never bothered to see what it actually was. I've only got two classes this semester, so I should have plenty of time to work on it (yay!) and I've got a bunch of ideas for a story, so I'm going to attempt it this year. I've never been able to finish something long, and it's always bugged me. I tend to revise and worry too much about getting it just right as I go along, as opposed to just writing it all out and then revising, so this should be good.
Haha, I thought-write too! The bad thing is I generally to do it at work (when it's slow), and the story tends to get going really well once we get busy; therefore, I end up a little distracted sometimes. Then I have to force myself to drop the story so I don't mess up orders, though it is frustrating to forget those bits of stories.
While I was deciding whether or not to participate, I couldn't help but think "To write or not to write: that is the question", so last night I adapted the rest of the "To be or not to be" soliloquy for the occasion, and therefore made up my mind.
To write or not to write: that is the question:
Whether ‘tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The pangs and tortures of unfinished novels
Or to take pen assisting a sea of ideas
And by writing keep them? To write: to sleep
So little, though by sleep perchance to dream
The heart-ache and outlandish scenes characters
May face. To be heir to completion; that goal
Greatly to be wish’d. To sleep, to write;
To write: perchance to write and thereby dream,
For in that dream of script, what dreams may come
When we have scribbled off this wordsome toil,
Must give us pause; there’s the reward
That ends calamity of such short month;
For who would bear the pains of writer’s block,
That oppressor which stifles creative flow,
The pangs forgotten prose or half remembered
Dialogue (which in insolence escapes)
Impose upon the mind, and yet keep writing
Still? When one might by quitting gain time; yet,
Not gain peace of mind; who would such things bear:
To write and create with a weary mind.
But dread of something worse than lack of sleep:
The undiscovered characters and twists
Of plot that intrigue the mind! Aye, the thought
Is such to make us bear those ills we find
Than quit to others which may torture more!
Thus writing does make cowards of us all.
And so the pale cast of not attempting it,
Conquered by the hue of resolution
And defeated with enterprises of such cleverly
Composed or hastily written words, must
Fail to drown the story- quickly now!
To great struggle completed in a month’s space;
By all those words remember’d.
(Haha, just a bit of silliness I couldn't resist. It begged me to be written.)
I love looking at everyone's covers and reading about your stories! I'm anxious for November, though it's nice having October for planning.
thanks narnianerd! I added you! I'll add you too ForeverFan!

I love it Lydia Jane! Welcome to the NaNo crew for this year. It'll be a very fun time. I'm getting really excited by all of you NaNo WriMo newbies, since I was one last year. All of the people involved just make it awesome. Plus it's really cool to get an email from a famous author roughly once a week during November.
"Let the music cast its spell,
give the atmosphere a chance.
Simply follow where I lead;
let me teach you how to dance."
Thanks!! I'm really excited to be participating this year! I managed to get more planning done during my break today. I'm having trouble naming my main characters, but I should settle on their names by the time November comes.
You're welcome! Yes, naming is hard. I used to obsess over names- I thought that they had to "fit", whatever that meant. Now I think about it for a little bit, pick a name, then go with it.
Wow! Malkah, I really, really like the second cover. Both of them are beautiful, but the second just blew me away. Wonderful work!

Okay, so I've decided to go ahead with the novel I had planned to write in June. It's called To Save What Was Lost. I have two covers. One for I made for fun using actors I thought best represented my characters, the other for possible publication.
Lydia Jane, that rewrite of "To be or not to be" is genius! I love it!
P.S."Brooklyn!"
This sounds great! I'm about to sign up . I have done some previous work in the past...nothing too fantastic though .
I can't wait to get started ! I'll be preparing this month with the outline, characters, and such . Well...November shall be an - er - interesting month
I met Georgie and Skandar AND saw the film in one evening.
Have you thought any more on the genre of your story line? I'm rather curious about it.
Hm... well, I'm not sure what the genre is. I kind of have a small plot I'm thinking on.... but I'm not sure. I mean, it'd be in America, but I'm not sure when. In the 1800's some time. So... would that be counted as Historical Fiction? There's really nothing "historical" that I'll include probably.
Very nice covers, both FF and malkah!! I like the improved version better, FF.

@ Queen Susan: I'm pretty sure that anything set back in history (relatively speaking. If a novel was set back in the 1990s/2000s, it wouldn't be) is classified as historical fiction. Does that help any?
Thanks! Hmm, yes, I think I like it better too, although as another person pointed out, I'm not entirely sure if I like the bottom picture of the girls reading. It's not a bad picture, but it doesn't really fit the mood of the others above. Hmm...
@ Edmund P: Hurrah! What is your username over there?
Rising Star: Lovely covers! I think I prefer the mood and feel of the "fun" one over the other, but both are quite nicely put together.
Lydia Jane: What is your user name over on the NaNo site?
Malkah: Lovely covers! It's hard to pick a favourite- I like one because of the image of the footprints fading into blackness best I think. (Although I do like the inclusion of the image of the chains on the other as well...)
Horse Lover: Yay! Thanks!
Aravanna: Thanks for your C&CC on the cover! I appreciate it, and I think I'm beginning to agree with you, so I'll see what I can come up with tomorrow.
Dear days of old, with the faces in the firelight,
Kind folks of old, you come again no more.
(Robert Louis Stevenson)
Thanks Rising_Star! I like both of your covers (especially the text).
I can't wait to get started either, Edmund P! I'm having trouble not starting it now!
FF, I've got the same user name there as I do here.
Just a reminder that we have a Narniaweb thread on the NaNo site here, so post if you haven't already so I can add you as a buddy.
I've been keeping myself occupied by doing research and figuring out my plot. I'm a member of a large figure skating message board, so I'm able to ask pertinent questions there and get very helpful answers. Yay for fun research!
Thanks for the compliments, Lydia Jane and FF! And yeah, FF, I like the "Fun" one better too.
P.S."Brooklyn!"
No major developments on the plot front, though i think i'm going to be writing about Mordred, the son of King Arthur. I'm thinking "Kingslayer" as a title; working title at least. If my characters would just start talking i might be able to get some work done ... >_>
I would love to do a cover, but at present, i don't have enough idea of a plot to get anything down .. *sigh*
Rising_Star: The song quoted in your signature is the one that inspired me to write about Mordred.
Do not be daunted by the enormity of the world’s grief. Do justly, now. Love mercy, now. Walk humbly now. You are not obligated to complete the work, but neither are you free to abandon it. - Rabbi Tarfon
