I have failed miserably. I have about 1070 words. Partially, because I started so late and partially because I just didn't work hard enough. I got writers block as usual. I don't think even NaNo can help me with that.
Congrats to those who've hit 50k and gone even beyond that!
If I'd been home all month, I'm pretty sure I'd have hit 50k words, but I really enjoyed the 10 days I was away visiting friends and relatives. During down times I managed to write several thousand additional words (longhand) and if today had about 12 more hours I'd probably make it.
But it's been lots of fun, and I have every intention of completing my story over the next few days, once I catch up on other household duties.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
I finished!!! Yippppeeeeeeeeee!!
I completed my 50k at about 3 this afternoon, and the first thing I did (after validating it, of course) was go to the library and get some books to read that are not research for my book!! I can have a life again!!! Mwahahaha!
My book is FAR from being finished; there are huge chunks missing in it right now, and I have a ton of battles left to write. I'm estimating that my book will be somewhere over 300 pages when I'm done. That's a scary thought for me!!
This month has been such an amazing experience! I honestly never thought that I would be able to write anything, let alone a 50,000+ word book! I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I am so looking forward to next year! I already have an idea for my next story... and the one after that!
Anyways, on to other things...
Ryan, your new cover is GORGEOUS!!! Simply beautiful work!
A special conga-rats goes to Djaq for doing such an awesome job completing her word goal! You are an awesome sister!
Go Queen Susan!! You can do it!!
To those who are still getting those last few words in before midnight: YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!!! Just keep writing!

Yayayay, I did it! Thank God, I managed to pull through! I didn't finish one complete novel, but I finished several short stories which I'll edit into much longer books after that. I'm so glad I did it this year, and I really....*sighs* I'm so happy!
Conga-rats to all who've won!
And as many others have said, if you still have a couple more words, keep on writing!!

Hooray!!
I'm done. I finished both my story and the word count, so I'm happy it's over. Thank you so much for the encouragement everyone! And you all made it so much more fun--without N-web people doing it, I don't know if I would have joined in--but you all made it worth it!
Thank you so much!!
A huge congratulations to whoever finished---HOORAY! Celebrate!
And encouragement for those who are still trudging the rest of it out!!

YAY! Big hugs and huge congratulations to flambeau, Bella, and Queen Susan!!! If any of you hadn't made it, I would have been very sad, like this.
But since you have, I can bounce some more, like this!
And Ryan, I already told you, but I love your novel cover.
Woohooo, I did it! *yay* And I actually finished my novel with the 50k too. It was kinda unexpected for me, I killed off yet another character that I didn't plan on killing, so it all ended kinda lamely but that's what editing is for, right?
Congratz to everyone who's finished and good luck to everyone who's trying to! You guys are great!

HAPPINESS AND YAYS!!
Conga rats and lots of chocolate to everyone!! Even if you didn't make it to 50k this year, you're still awesome for trying!!
I made it!! I wasn't sure I would, but I did, and BOY am I glad it's over. I didn't come close to finishing my story, but I'll just have to keep at it.
And again, congrats, all!
...Now let's get some sleep.

I still have 6800 words left. And my hand hurts.

Go, go, go, Nionel! I'm cheering for ya!
Aw, thanks, Gymfan. I feel encouraged. I just wasted ten minutes because my laptop just died from lack of battery, but my Word Document saved 500 unsaved words for me. I just love Microsoft Word. *iz behind, and so leaves this thread*
EDIT: I just finished. With TWO MINUTES TO SPARE. Yeah. It got to the point where I had to rant inside my novel about the poor author who was writing, and what a hard time she was having, especially with writer's block seven minutes before midnight.
Upon reflection, I think I should have woken up at 7 like I had planned. And I shouldn't have done anything to celebrate my birthday. Spending three hours with my two best friends was not a good idea. But at least I have an ending, which is better than last year.
My whole arm hurts now.

Congratulations to all who attempted NaNo this year. While I did not participate, I have accomplished the task in a different time (I have done over 50k in less than a month) so I know the feeling. So how does it feel to actually finish something? That is the one thing that writer's always struggle with the most. I will say it was an awesome feeling when I finished the first draft of my first novel (I have written two, one of which is prepared for publishing). It is a moment that pretty much can only be described by other writers who have done the same thing. Congrats to all and take a break from you keyboard so it doesn't burn up from excessive use.
Be watching for the release of my spiritual warfare novel under a new title: "Call to Arms" by OakTara Publishing. A sequel (title TBD) will shortly follow.
Yay for Nio! I'm so glad you made it!
And of course, to everyone else who did it! Yay!
*happy sigh*

Nioniel. You. Are. AMAZINGLY AWESOME.
You were - what - 15,500 words behind? AND YOU MADE IT. OH MY PLATYPUS.
You go, girl.

That's it! NaNoWriMo 2009 is done!
I've been crunching numbers all morning and I have to say, I am so proud of you all that I could burst. Narniaweb did AMAZINGLY this year. I've been seeing how we would rank up against other regions if Narniaweb was it's own little region, and the results are seriously impressive.
So, without further ado...the numbers!
In 2009, Narniaweb sent a record 49 writers to the prestigious event that is known as NaNoWriMo. This is not counting users who participated in the Young Writer's Program, or Narniawebbers who participated but did not declare themselves so I could get them accounted for. Out of these 49 participants, we had 31 NaNo'ers who were either attempting their first NaNo, or their first win, as far as I could tell from their profiles. That's a LOT of new people!
So many participated...but just how many were victorious?
Well, after much searching and crunching and whatnot, I am SO thrilled to announce that the official Narniaweb tally is...
*drumroll*
33 Winners!
That is a 67% win rate!
Together, we wrote a total of 2,018,083 words! Out of our 33 winners, 18 won their first NaNoWriMo ever. Together, we averaged at a jaw-dropping 41,186 words per person.
If Narniaweb had been entered into NaNoWriMo as a region, how would we have fared? Very, very well. We would have placed in the top 250 in word-count world-wide, and within the top 20 for average words per person. That's REALLY amazing.
Also, we had FOUR Narniawebbers who donated to the cause and helped keep NaNoWriMo alive and running for years to come! A great big thank-you to everyone who donated, and I'd like to encourage everyone who participated this year to donate as well...you got so much out of this program, so why not give a little back?
A great big huge CONGRATULATIONS to everyone who participated and won! I'm honestly more excited for your success than I was for mine; it's so much fun to see others make it across the line!
Here's a list of winners, and their word-counts. Although I should preface this by saying that Silvertongue told me that she wrote 2 NaNo's this month for a total over 100k. Since that number wasn't on her profile I couldn't "validate" it officially, but in any case, I thought it would be fair to point out that realistically, I did NOT get the highest-word count here.
Without further ado...OUR WINNERS!

You wrote more fiction than most people will ever write in their lifetime. You may not have won this year, but you still accomplished an AMAZING thing. Thanks for participating, and here's to crossing the finish line next year!
I would be remiss if I did not mention our honorable Young Writer's Program participants. This one was harder for me to "validate" since I can't access the YWP site myself. But, I believe we had 4 YWP participants this year, and at least 1 made their goal! Congratulations to narnianerd, Horse_Lover, LucyTheValiant and -eliza-! Great job on your accomplishments, and we hope you come back and write every year!
Well, that closes out NaNo for this year. It's been an amazing, crazy month and I've loved every second of it. Many thanks to everyone for all the encouragement, chats and word wars almost every night!
Thanks, and see you next year!
