*cheers everyone on* (especially those that are behind in words...) Just keep typing and go one word at a time, and give it your best effort!
Congrats Gymfan and Silvertongue on passing 50,000 words! Wonderful achievements, girls!
narnian_at_heart: Good for you for joining- do you have any specific ideas of what story you're going to be writing? All the best on your writing!

But I want to go 1,000 words at a time!!! Yeah, yeah, that's not going to happen...
I've written over a thousand today though, and I'm at a scene which will take up a lot of words probably. Hopefully I can do it right. I should be the most touching scene in the book--the most sad--and it's the "main" thing that everything has been leading up to I guess...

Conga-rats, those who have reached above 50k! =]
I hadn't written for about 2-3 days, and then found myself really behind then I came upon a really nice story idea with not distinct plotline; there is one, but it's Louisa May Alcott style where it's just a flow of happenings, and they mold the plot. Anyways, it's getting me alot of words and it's really fun because I can put in circumstances that have happened to me with the characters, and things I've seen, so that's coming along very nicely. I think I'll actually make it to 50,000. Yay!
Anyways, it's neat to read and see on the NaNo site how you all are doing with your stories!

Well, i'm actually starting to like my stories more now; which is pretty different from the past two years. A very nice change, too.
Technically i'm behind, but i hope to focus more energy (and time) on it in the future and maybe even hit 50k before the 30th. We'll just have to see.
Congrats to everyone who's already there, and to those who are ahead or even just keeping up!

Congratulations to all you brilliant mad people who are done already! I wish I was, but this annoying thing called Life keeps getting in the way...
Oh, and Alyosha, I stole/borrowed your idea and named one of my villains Edward. He's an unwashed character who never combs his hair, so I thought it suited him. I hope you don't mind...
Oh that's awesome. Bonus points if he glitters and/or has skin of anemic marble.
I should reach 40K tonight...I finished my WIP (the first draft is horrifically, laughably bad. Fear my red pen!) and started on a second story. I was going to do some serious historical novel (which I still plan to do at some point) but had had enough death and war and destruction for the time being, so I'm writing a fantasy/parody/adventure thing instead. I have no idea where it's going, but my MC is an idiot and I'm having way too much fun making fun of him, so all is well.

*Sniff, sniff* I'm behind. And too tired to write. And the story got boring. And my main character is mentally unstable! Which isn't cool, because she's not supposed to be! Also, the other day at three in the morning I discovered I had eleven days and 7.5 fairytales left. Now I have 9 days and 7 fairy tales left...This is bad.
*sighs*
Congrats to everybody who got 50k already!

I've majorly gotten off my goal. I hardly wrote at all all week. I'd hoped to finish my novel in the month instead of just getting 50,000 words, but it looks like that's not happening. I'm losing again. Darnit. The panic of realizing this is the end of the month is catching up to me and I'm getting back to it, though.
Hyaline12: I must agree, your story sounds awesome...I'd love to hear how it turns out.
Just keep writing, guys! It doesn't even have to make sense. Just write!
Send your characters off on a mad adventure that you didn't plan. Have one of your characters fall madly in love with their neighbor. Have them fall madly in love with their neighbor's dog, if it ups the word count! Just keep going. Don't get discouraged. Everyone is starting to get a little worried at this point. Hang in there!

Congratulations to everyone who has made it to 50,000 already! I, too, wish that I was there...
And now, a cautionary tale:
Well, my story is coming along better than I thought, especially considering where I was a week ago tonight. Which was back down to zero. I hadn't written anything the first week, because I was sick of the story I had been planning in October (though I've still used some characters and scenes from it). I ended up combining ideas and characters from several stories I had thought about or started before when I finally did start one week in.
So, by last Saturday I was at 10,500 words before I had to go to work. Which was when my computer decided to go haywire and need to be recovered. To the way it was when I bought it. With no way to access my story (or pictures). Yep, I lost it all. Of course, I was not smart enough to have saved my story on anything else.
Well, by Sunday evening I had my computer up and running, nicely recovered, but minus my story. So, I had to start all over again and write even more. Now I'm at just over 17,000, which is pretty good for a week, though I'll have to go into crazy writing mode to get it done. (I think I may start to look like that soon.)
So, the moral of this story is: make sure your story is saved on something other than just your computer (like a flash drive, for instance). Also, it's a good idea to make sure that you have recovery disks for your computer. Just in case.
Whew. Anyhow, my story is going pretty well, and I think I'll be able to finish it. I just need to figure out exactly what happens to my villain after he's been defeated. And now I must be off to write.
Two days of bleh and I am behind. Seriously behind.
But, amazingly, I'm not sick of my story yet! I do wish it would move along quicker though.

I'm very happy as I have just hit 40k! I've had a bit of a dry patch, where I was wondering just where the story was going to go, but somehow it's all fitted in to place, and I'm pretty sure I know how it's going to end now. Unless one of my characters decides to reveal some more previously unknown information that throws the whole story again ...
Congratulations to everyone with the green bar, and congratulations to everyone who is still working at achieving those pesky 50,000 words! You can do it!
Great job everyone! Keep it up! =)
I spent Friday night watching the entire movie of Gods and Generals so of course I didn't write at all...but yesterday I had plenty of time so I got up to just over 37k and I'm content with that.

I don't know how this happened, but in the past couple days, i've gotten a day ahead of myself. This is excellent news, of course, but i have no idea how i did it. Almost all this month, i've been just barely catching up on the day's word count after midnight; which, if i'd continued until the end of November, would have meant i'd lose.
Not that i'm complaining.
Story First, the one i didn't like but went with because it had an ending, is nearing completion.
Story Second, the one i started because i got so sick of Story First but didn't have an ending for, is running out of rope from its premise. Hopefully i'll be able to make something of it.

Lydia Jane - Wow! I'm really impressed that you started over after losing 10,000 words. I might have just given up. But thank you for the warnings. I have been obsessively backing up my novel so I won't lose it.
So... I didn't have a computer with high speed internet for nearly three weeks. I used a laptop with dial-up for that time, which greatly limited my internet usage, and left me with nothing else to do but write. So I'm at 70k, and I'm supposed to be writing the climax right now. Sadly, I picked THIS week to come down with the flu. Wouldn't you just know it? I didn't do any writing yesterday because I was feeling so yucky... it doesn't make me hopeful about getting my novel finished.
