JBC: I've posted some of my novel so far on a blog, but not the past few days.
All last week I sent what I wrote each day to my friend and she read it.
After I'm finished a few people might ask to read it--and I would let them most likely. :p

i really want to have a novel that is finished by Dec. 1st

You can do it.

My writing has been going very well, I think; thanks mostly to a black cat named Mel. ;)

*purrs* I love Main c**n cats, they're so pretty and warm. Furry cats make good handwarmers...

Betsie... =)) Does Aunt Mel get pictures of the house? ;) :D (Did I ever tell you that Theo is one of my favourite names? *can't remember*)

I've hit the halfway point in my word count, but I'm not even a third of the way through the story. I think. ;))

Hi my fellow NarniaWeb NaNos!
I just wanted to ask a quick question about the Word Wars in the NW chat room: do you have a time to meet or you just enter any time and see if there's someone connected at the same time? Because, if you have a time set, I'd love to know to join you guys! It seems like a lot of fun and it's also good for the word count ;)
Thanks :)

Thanks to malkah for the lovely avatar!

Going down the line and replying to a few posts as I go:

Queen Susan: Ask and ye shall receive. ;) ^^

jbc003: You can do it! :D Just keep writing, writing, writing. And don't stop! And RE: sharing my novel. I'm only sharing it with two close friends at the moment; I'm very shy about my work and the stuff I've written so far is dreadful anyway. ;)

Mr Anderson: Aren't word wars wonderful? :) They are so motivating. I love the concept of just sitting down and writing nonstop for a set amount of time anyway. When I'm feeling lazy or in a slump, I'll make myself do a a 15 or 20 minute Write or Die session, and that ususally takes a huge chunk out of my word goal for the day. :)

Mar In Narnia: People tend to congregate in the chat room during the evening, so if you want to War, I would suggest logging into the chat when you start writing and staying in until you're done. People will drop in and out as they please. There's no set time for warring; it's basically who's on. But as I said, evening is when people are generally writing. :) I'm never in the chat room earlier than 8pm EST, and I usually stay online until at least 11.

Nice thread title change, Gymfan! :)

Welcome aboard, jbc! Good luck - and have fun!

Avra, I gather you're writing your novel longhand? Very impressive! How do you manage to avoid writer's cramp? (My writing is extrememely messy, and I can type so much faster than I can write, so I'm grateful that I can type it).

I suppose I should get back to writing. ;)

There are a few methods I use to deal with writer’s cramp:
a) Complain and push through it.
b) Complain and take a break.
c) Get so excited that I don’t even notice…until inspiration runs out and then I really notice.
Seriously though, your hand is just like any other muscle. The more you exercise it, the stronger it becomes and the more it can do.
My greatest trouble with hand-writing is actually my kitten taking off with my pen…in fact she has it right now.
Well, I better get off here and go write: one more page and I’ll have met my goal for the day! First I’d better go rescue my pen…

I'm likin the title change! B-)

Ooh, hurray! I'm glad my ninjas...er, five knocks on the door, helped you out Christproclaimer! And anyone else, too!

I actually don't hate my novel this year. :D The subject matter is so BIG that I can just switch subjects when I finish one I didn't like and then I like the novel again. It's quite refreshing, actually.

I've decided to put my original NaNo story aside for the time being and work on a separate idea all together. I think it will work better actually, seeing as it has a broader plotline that I can take virtually anywhere I want, unlike To Save What Was Lost which had a very specific plotline without much wiggle room to put random things in, in order to up word count.

It's called The Blind Traveler, or as some have come to known it as "the gypsy book" and the "flying monkeys on EVUL sporks" book. ;) (Don't ask.) A synopsis and excerpt will be going up soon, although a cover might take a little while.

I'm probably too far behind to really catch up, but I'm going to do my best to get as close to 50k as I can. Hopefully this one will work out.

EDIT:

HERE is my new cover.

Nice thread title change! =)

Well, I have to admit, yesterday night I was not planning on doing any writing at all! But then at about 9pm I opened my story document and decided to write a few words, other wise I'd be mad at myself today. But I ended up writing about 1,400 words and was very inspired because I finally got to the scene where my two main characters meet and fall in love. x)

Great job again everyone! =)

Thanks stargazer...good to see you again....How is your novel coming?

Nice to see you too, jbc! How is your writing coming?

My novel's coming along well now; I'm up to about 22,000 words. I'm using a plotline I once considered using for the ditto story but eventually discarded. But this is just for fun, so away we go! :)

I'm afraid I'm going to have to be mean to one of the main characters. The plotline is roughly mapped out to a happy ending, though I'm not sure it'll be 50,000 words. In any case, it's fun!

Seriously though, your hand is just like any other muscle. The more you exercise it, the stronger it becomes and the more it can do.

Too true, too true! I'm just lazy - and the old hand isn't 40 - or even 50 - any more. ;)
I often write longhand when I'm away, for example, while camping. But at home typing is so much faster - especially for those lucky moments when the words are coming so fast it's hard to keep up. :)

I think its off to a good start. I'm actually using a story idea I've had for several years. I started off writing it as a play and decided to try to turn it into a novel.

I have a rough idea where one of the main characters ends, but its difficult because I think I'm going to end up killing him off. Part of me wants to write him a nice happy ending, but I don't think he be pleased with that...but we'll see.

It's great to see how well all of you are doing!

Just out of curiosity, when you write one page in English, how many words are there in it? I'm starting to suspect that there are more than in a page written in Finnish :D , or writing is just somehow harder to me than to many of you. (In my text, there are something between 430 and 493 words per page.)

Well, JBC, many good books end with the death of the main character :) . Just write what seems the best :D .
