Whatziznehm, 4 days in is not too late to start! There's still plenty of time to make up those lost 6000 or so words.
That's too bad that you're sick, flambeau. I was deathly ill the week before nano and I was scared I was going to have to start late. I hope you get better soon!
Alyosha, I love your idea for Twilight names! I shall tell all the Twilighters I know about it! (Though they might eat me.) And I did end up reading most of The Thief last night, until I yelled at myself that I had no excuse not to be writing, since I've read the book a million times (which really is far from true, having only read it once, but I fudged the numbers a bit for argument's sake) and so at about 11.30 I decided to put it away and finish my word count for the day, which somehow I did, although it took me til 1am and I had to keep reminding myself that sleep deprivation is a part of nano.
I was at over 9000 words before 11 o'clock this morning and I'm wondering how that happened... The fact that my main character finally decided to show up might have something to do with it. She actually got to have some dialogue before I ditched her for my secondary villain.
FF ( ), you're still killing me with your word count. Halfway done already? *faints*
EDIT: Oh, and thanks for the comments on my cover, everyone!

Oh dear.
I think FF is killing nearly everyone with her word count. I really don't know how she does it.
Anyways, seriously, I need to stop browsing N-web every 5 minutes, and keep writing instead of taking breaks.

I deleted most of what I wrote because it was horrible and I couldn't keep the story going. So now I'm writing a parody of my original idea. I have my narrator keep addressing the reader as if they're a live audience who keep asking questions and being annoying. It's a lot of fun.
*originally read FF's statement as "My characters aren't ones for having NWebbers as pets."*
*hopes flambeau feels better very soon*

Hello there!
This is first time that I've gotten around to posting in here, but I have been participating in NaNo. (My name is "Djaq" over there as well.)
My story is actually a girl's journal, and it has been fun to write so far! I haven't really had any problems with it, and hopefully it will turn out well.
I'm sorry to report that my dear sister flambeau is not feeling any better!
She's feeling a little worse. If you would please pray that she starts getting better soon I/we would appreciate it so much! Thank you!
*has been enjoying reading about NWebbers ending up in other peoples' stories as pets or some kind of animal* Quite an interesting idea! Hmm, unless any of you are named "Afton", I'm sorry, but you aren't a horse in my story.
I'm praying that everyone's stories are coming along well and that computers cooperate for you guys!!

Oh dear, I was hoping to get 3,000 words in today, but I'm afraid I'm stuck.
-My manuscript is on my brother's computer, and... he redid it, so now I don't know how to get to it. I'm a bit worried--I'll have to write 4,000 words both tomorrow and the next day to get in 15,000 by Sunday... And all Saturday we'll be at my Grandparents. I haven't written all day--*sigh* and I don't know when my brother will be back to help me.
I guess I'll just have to wait patiently. I could always write a whole new thing too, starting from where I left off--hm. Good idea. But...
Another problem: My brother's computer is being re-done somehow. The computer I'm using needs Microsoft Word installed somehow. The other computer down here needs Microsoft Word installed. (Why do we have to choose this month to redo and clean up the computers?) And... yeah. I suppose I'm just being lazy or something. Since I could type it over email. Or use the upstairs computer. Ugh.
Edit: DJ: Aw!! Tell flam I'm praying for her!

Hi all, glad to see this thread here! =D This is my second year attempting NaNoWriMo. Last year I only got to about 10,000 words before quitting...this year I'm determined to win! At the moment I'm calling my novel 'Promise Me' and it's about a princess who falls in love with a soldier. It's not exactly fantasy I guess, because I'm not putting in any magic or dragons or mystical creatures or anything but it's set in the midieval (sp?) times.
Also, my username over there is Sleepwalking too, so if anyone wants to add me as a buddy feel free.

Well, i'm not way far behind where i should be, but it isn't going terrific.
My sister and i came up with a much better plot day 2 - about a circus that makes its living by being terrible, or something like that. I wish i had thought of it on day 1. I would have swapped plots but it's hard enough going when i only need 1667 words a day.

Djaq: Ack...sorry to hear Flam's not feeling any better (my sister has just informed she's been feeling ill for the last three days without me even knowing...one of the negatives to NaNo, one does lose contact with family!), I'll be praying, of course!
I love reading journals (such as the Dear Canada & Dear America ones), I find them very much allowing into the character's mind, which is cool, so I think your story idea is great! Now, one question I had about writing this type of book- do you have a set plot line that your character experiences and writes about throughout the course of the book, an objective? Or is it more a day to day diary?
Arwenel and Queen Susan: I'm praying gals!
*originally read FF's statement as "My characters aren't ones for having NWebbers as pets."*

(must use that smiley again). Haha. I should hope my characters wouldn't be for that!
Hehehe!
Sleepwalking: All the best with your writing! I'm glad that you are trying it again- and your storyline sounds lovely!
That sounds like a lot of fun! Would that be on YIM?
We did it on YIM last year, I think that's the thing most people have?
;)) Hehe, I'm glad you're amused and not offended.
Of course, I didn't think you would be.
I laughed at your comments though--seeing you use the
smiley face just made me laugh out loud 2 or 3 times... for some reason... And of course, the thought of you actually being a cow is absolutely ridiculous.

Haha! *laughs and hides cow ears beneath her hair and squelches a "mooo"* Thank you.
Ah, I'm glad we can have fun!
A Word War is basically this: Two or more people get together, and during a set period of time (ten min, fifteen minutes, etc), race to see how many words they can write during that time. It's actually quite fun, very thrilling too.
I think FF is killing nearly everyone with her word count. I really don't know how she does it.
Oh dear, don't say that! It's really not that hard to do...so please don't think I've got wings on my fingers or anything, okay?
FF (

*revives Hyaline* Er, ah, yes, I guess it would appear that I am.
*loves the cow smiley*
I'm currently enjoying the part I'm writing at- and wanting to take it nice and slow. My Victorian Detective whom I have a fond attachment to (of the kind that there normally is when you've stumbled upon a character who is your brain child and much more interesting than the main character) has just entered the scene. *is happy*
Dear days of old, with the faces in the firelight,
Kind folks of old, you come again no more.
(Robert Louis Stevenson)
It's really not that hard to do...so please don't think I've got wings on my fingers or anything, okay?
No, it's not too hard for me either. If I set my mind to it and quit messing around.
And if my manuscript is there.
Ooh, a Word War sounds like a LOT of fun! To me!
I'm glad your story is going well and you're enjoying it!!

Don't you love it when your story wrenches itself from your fingers and walks off in a different direction? Happy sigh...
Ooh, I hope you feel better Flambeau!
Looks like several of our novels are being interrupted by that most irritating of all get-in-the-way-ers, Life. . I'm getting behind, too.
I've not figured out a way to work NarniaWebbers into my story - but the forum is still affecting what I write...inspired by the Children's Books Special Feature elsewhere in the Spare Oom, one of my characters is overheard reading a few lines from Goodnight Moon to her baby sister.
Just for fun I've included a few references to TV shows from our real world, like Lost and Avatar: The Last Airbender. And it opens with a dream sequence in which the main character is an embarrassed contestant in Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader? - a show neither of us has seen more than a few minutes of - as a plot device to introduce the next story arc.
Up to 13,500 words and still enjoying it!
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
Well, despite doing not-so-great up till now, using Dr. Wicked's "Write or Die" lab (terrific site, btw) i just got over 1200 words written in twenty minutes! That's the best i've done so far this year. I'm quite impressed, actually.
One of my two viewpoint characters is considerably easier to write than the other, but neither are developing particularly as characters. I just have to continue to remind myself that i need to finish it before i can edit it. After all, what good is a perfectly edited partial story?

Well, two word wars last night helped me get about a thousand words in half an hour. I'm now up to 8,300 or so--And I'm really hoping to get a LOT written today. Yesterday was a bit hard to get writing in, for many *cough* excuses.
So yeah. *is hoping her Grandpa and Grandma's computer will be working when she's there all day tomorrow* One problem--my younger brothers like to play video games when they're at my Grandparents--it's the only time they can play them (family rule)
So--I have a feeling they'll hog the computer.
Maybe I can bring our newly-redone-and-working laptop.

Your wordcounts! You amaze me. Congrats to all of you and your word counts! It's great to see all these NWebber's participating and doing so well. WE ROCK!
Okay, I better go and write something and stop rambling...
Thanks to malkah for the lovely avatar!
