I hit 5000 words yesterday. :D Seriously, I had nowhere to go and nothing to do all day, so I mostly wrote. And I had gone to church the previous evening, so I was free to stay up as late as I wanted on Saturday. I do have a life, just so all of you aren't getting really worried about me. :p In fact, I'm feeling rather giddy at the challenge today is going to present to me: I have schoolwork to finish and rehearsal in the evening, and I'm still going to try to write 2k before I fall asleep tonight.

I'm very proud of myself: I wrote my very first completely lame piece of dialogue in NaNo yesterday. :D I am not going to tell you anything more about it, except that it had the word "Yay" in it. I wanted to push backspace desperately, but I stayed strong and left it there. ;)

I love seeing all the NaNoWriMo avatars! :)

Forgot to say before, my username on the website is missdelaney. :)

I think I may have used the word "Yay" as well, Faun Song. ;))

And I'm now at 1,168! Yay!! :D

My novel has gotten off to a rocky start. :p I knew it was gonna happen, too. I know NOTHING about the late 60's, or the world series, or what Sophomore Highschool boys talk about, and I'm going to desperately try to mold my mess of a novel into something that has an actual plot tonight. BLAH!

Hehe, I kind of have the same problem. I don't even know when my novel is set, except in the early 1800's... I think at least. And it's probably in Iowa... But yeah. So far I haven't given much info.

I don't know if this is a really bad thing or not, but I've written the first 1,600 words, and the main character has never told her name. It's in first person... And no one has said her name either. Everyone else's names are given, but so far not MINE. ;) Is this a bad thing? :p

My novel has gotten off to a rocky start.

Mine too. I had some real trouble finding my starting point. Finally I just went "when in doubt, wreck the boat." My characters' boat is in bad shape, but my story's not anymore!
I'm still behind on my word count, though. Oh, well.

2,500 words into my story, I realize my main character has no name or age. Should I have made this clear long ago? Please give me your opinions. :p

I think that it could provide a unique and interesting introduction to your story. (In a famous example, as I recall, the narrator for du Marier's Rebecca never gets a name, and that story is told in first person).

I had some fun today, writing a couple thousand words describing Erik and Molly's experience watching a total solar eclipse. [/geek moment ;)]

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

I just have to say good luck to all of you. I would definitely like to try my hand at this someday. It is not the ideas (for I have tons of those) but my ridiculously slow typing rate that would leave me choking in the dust. I would probably look up from the computer at the end of the month with a pitiful few thousand words. :( Any way, good luck to you all again.

Ok, thanks for the opinion, stargazer! :) I just hope it wouldn't/won't be super annoying. ;)) Who knows...

Goodness, there are a lot of NWbers participating this year!

This is my first time doing anything like this, so I'm a bit nervous. :-s Though its gone better than I expected so far - I finished with 5000+ words last night, and I've not completely lost it yet. 8-} ;))

Mann, I picked such a hard plot to write this year. XD But I'm happy...I've kept up a steady 2,000+ words per day so far. So far, meaning the first two days. I don't know if I'll be able to keep it up, but I'm hoping.

@Whatziznehm, you really should do it sometime...it's some of the most fun I have all year. Even if you don't win, it's a blast.
And I LOVE your username. "These Romans are crazy..." 😀 😀

I hate you Menelve, I really do. ;) :)) I stayed up until 2am last night completing your ridiculous challenge to get to 10k on Day 2. So technically it was Day 3, but whatever. :p So I got there, and I'm going to be very put-out if you don't join me pronto. ;)

I was thinking about du Maurier's Rebecca, too! :D
Yes, the main character tells the story in first person, and we're never told her name. Rebecca is her husband's first wife, who has died some time ago - if you ever read the book, you'll find out why it's named after her rather than after the main character ;)

I haven't started today's writing yet, though - and it's 6 p.m. ... :(

Hm, that's very interesting. I've heard a lot about the book Rebecca... I may have to read it sometime. ;)) [/offtopic]

Anyway. I haven't written much today... I hope to write 4,000 words or so. :-o To catch up... But I don't know how that will go...
No wait, I just realized! I would only have to write 2,000 words today... Awesome! But I need to write more anyway. :p

i'm 5,500 words in and mine hasn't even shown up yet. does anyone think that's a bad idea?

i wanted to go for more than 50k this year, so i'm writing like over 2000 words a day, i'm not sure that was a very good idea either. :-s

but on a happy note, i finally made a cover.

EDIT: whoops, that was supposed to be a link to the cover. it's fixed now.
