The hard thing for me is, I have a lot of the middle (or end... I haven't quite decided yet) of my plot kinda-sorta outlined, but lots of stuff is still fuzzy, affecting the beginning. I guess I could always just start writing and see what happens, but that approach is kinda hard for me.

Yay, a whole 240 words... As we were gone all afternoon until 5:00, I really had no time to start. And now It's almost 7:00... And we're going to discuss the sermon as a family. So I'm off. Maybe I can write a whole bunch tomorrow.

I had gotten 194 words, but the story I was working on was just too slow paced for my liking, so I moved to a different one. Working on it pretty well now.

RileyTea, and Queen S- nope, I don't mind a bit! I think it was Gymfan who provided a link somewhere with icons of the same type, so there was a few other colour choices (if y'all prefer something apart from blue) but I don't mind if you both use it, too! =]

Well, thanks to a one o' clock session last night, I'm at 563 words. I took a nap today instead of writing, though, so perhaps staying up wasn't the wisest idea.

I find I have to resist my usual tendency to edit as I write, alter word choice, and so on, rather than just "sit and spit."...This time, though, I'm just writing and I'll worry about editing later.

Same here; I usually write in small, heavily-edited segments, so not going back and rewriting is a struggle. I'm enjoying it, though; it's very freeing to simply write without worrying over the quality!

Bella, I'm praying that you're encouraged and inspired for your story! And that your laptop runs smoothly this month. Praying for everyone else as well!

Edit: Dumb question, but when you update your word count, on the NaNoWriMo website, do you paste the whole manuscript again, or just the new part? I know this is really dumb, but this is my first time and I don't want to do it wrong!

It is currently 9 p.m. on Day 1 and I have written 1,574 words thus far!!!! I'm very pumped about that!
I followed the trend of staying up to write at midnight last night, it was quite fun! I didn't get a ton written as I was writing it by hand (I'm not allowed on the computer that late, so that was my only option), but I got the prologue done.
I was sick and unable to go to church this morning, so I spent that time writing. I'm going to try to get to 2,000 words before bedtime.

Ditto to everyone who is having trouble not editing as you go. It is so tempting!

Thank God, I've gotten 2,077 words today! It took some effort to get that all out, but I'm glad I reached my goal of getting 2,000. The story I'm working on now is going by pretty well, but I'll finish it tomorrow or Tuesday if possible, so it stops becoming monotonous.

I think I'm going to keep a notebook by me and keep writing stuff, so that when I get to the computer I can just type it instead of staring at the screen until something hits me. :/ So, I'm thinking that will help some.

Winter, to update the word count go to the top of the screen where it says your name and log out. There's a box with update there. Use the word count tool in your word processor and type that number into the box. Click update and you're good to go. You only have to upload the manuscript to win.

I did not start in the wee hours of the morning yesterday. However, I did stay up rather late yesterday to (not quite) meet my goal of where I wanted the story to be. I did meet my word count goal, so I suppose that's good enough.

I stayed up until midnight and began writing right away at the beginning, but I hadn't really been planning on doing that... I got 500 words then, and in the afternoon, I got 1700. (At that point, I bragged to Destined that I had more words than any of my writing buddies. I refreshed the page, and there was Mel with her word count way up in the sky. )Then, after I went to bed, I started getting some really good ideas for what I was going to write today. I knew if I just went to sleep, I wouldn't be able to word them well today. So I got up and wrote about a page in my notebook. I don't think making it to 50,000 will be hard. Making it a decent story, and finished by the end of the month, yes.

BellaNotFromTwilight: You'll do alright! I kind of felt that way, too. I'll pray for your laptop!

I haven't been able to write yet because yesterday was Sunday, and now today the power is going out in an hour , and won't be back on until five. I suppose I'll be writing by hand a little, if the light from my little window is sufficient.
