The nano site is loading just fine for me. Oh and btw, they've most likely turned off the author search for the beginning of nano so the site doesn't crash.
I'm sooooo excited!!!! less than 8 hours to go (for me at least)! And nano's already started in aussieland and other places. YAYAYAY!!

That makes sense.
6 more hours to go (for me)! Though, I won't actually be able to start until Sunday evening.

Is it really just a few more hours? I find that so hard to believe.
There's the slightest chance that I might set my alarm clock for 12:00 tonight. I'm not sure though. I'm a bit afraid I'd end up waking up all my family members, specifically the sister I share a room with.
flambeau, you already know how excited I am that you're doing it. Hurrah!!!
Fanny, one day I couldn't get NaNo to load, but I've been able to ever since.
It's kind of funny-I've had a few people friend me who's identities I am uncertain about. I can tell they're NWebbers, but as to which . . . I guess I should head over to the NWebber thread on the NaNo forum to see if they've posted.
So, how often does the site crash? My browser is having issues already! *is exited but tired*

As you can tell, I like peeps with cloaks
I am not even half-way through coming up with a plot line yet. Gah!
Oh well, it will come...
Anyway...the NaNo site appears to be working okay for me...
Happy New Year!

Destined: I'm having problems remembering who each of my friends over on NaNo are....
Only 22 minutes until I can start!... But I'm kind of tired and not sure where I want to begin.... Oh dear?
At least I know who is in my book and what is going to happen, in a general sort of way.
Here's to excitement!!!!
Perpetual Member of the Manalive Conspiracy!
It's 6 a.m. in Norway and I am at 1833 words!!!
A session just past midnight and another this morning - but I think I'll go back to bed now for a while
(and probably have a late breakfast eventually).

Whooohooo!!!
I only wrote 660 words last night because I spent too much time rejoicing with friends because it's finally started than I did writing. ^_^
But I'll have lots of time today to get writing and get ahead. Even if I have no clue what to write.

Count me in!
I've thought about participating in this before, but have declined since it's traditionally been a busy time of year both at work and due to the upcoming holidays. But this year I have a little more spare time.
I'd been thinking about writing more tales about my ditto story characters, set years beyond where the story currently is, but was having writer's block. Thanks to some encouragement online last night, I decided to try it, with some rather lighthearted or goofy moments (it starts with a little geek humor: Erik suffering some embarrassment on Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader? - a show I normally don't watch at all!)
But I have more in mind, including one or more siblings for little Molly....1800 words so far. I may not get to 50,000, especially with time off around Thanksgiving, but it's still allowing me a little fun in expanding my characters' universe a bit.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
So I've decided not to do NaNoWriMo this year, but I wanted to come in here on Day 1 and wish all of you who are participating a very happy month full of speedy typing and cups of coffee. May the demon Writer's block stay away from you at every turn.
Demon writers block flees at the sight of scary NaNo writers!
AAAAH! It's started! *is off to write a little bit*
"Let the music cast its spell,
give the atmosphere a chance.
Simply follow where I lead;
let me teach you how to dance."
*cheers everyone on* I hope everyone has had a wonderful Day 1!
All the best with your endeavors, Stargazer! Don't forget to have large amounts of fun!
Thanks for everyone's reply about the NaNo site, it's still not loading at all for me, but from what my Dad says it's a problem on our end. I'm going ahead and writing anyways, so if you don't see me update my word count over there, that's why.
Dennie I've had that problem too- although I generally know everyone who friends is is an NWebber, and if not, well, it's not as if there is large amounts of personal information over there, right?
Dear days of old, with the faces in the firelight,
Kind folks of old, you come again no more.
(Robert Louis Stevenson)
The NaNo site usually doesn't work very well the first couple of days because everyone and their Aunt Bertha is online putting in their word counts, updating their profiles, posting on the forums, etc. It'll slow down in a couple of days and the site should be up and running as usual.
P.S."Brooklyn!"
I've noticed the NaNo site seems to be swamped today as well. I lost that little intro post I wrote for Gymfan's NW thread; glad I'd saved it first.
I'm enjoying writing this way; I find I have to resist my usual tendency to edit as I write, alter word choice, and so on, rather than just "sit and spit." My background tends to emphasize economy of words, so I'm also tempted to shorten things up as I write. This time, though, I'm just writing and I'll worry about editing later.
I'm up to about 3400 words now and think I'll rest for a while...but I'm not sure all the ideas I have in mind will take me much past 10 or 15,000 words.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
