Whoo, NaNo! :D

This will be my fourth year participating and my second year kinda-sorta planning everything out. I have an idea of what to write, rough chapter outlines, and two main characters. I'm super excited and can't wait for next month! 27 DAYS!! :D

My NaNo username is Melian.

I cannot believe that it is October (and NaNo) planning time already, but my calender says tis so. This will be my fifth year doing it. :) I have about six pages of my outline all done, but I have yet to think out how my characters will resolve all their conflicts and all that.

This year I'm doing time travel (yes, yes, I appear to be not very unique at all)- but where fictional characters from the past enter into the modern world. The story will of course be written from their perspective, so it will have a large element of history in it.

I'm break_of_day over on the site, if anyone would like to add me to their writing buddies, although I think I've got most of you all already added. :)

Oh, man. I'm so excited for NaNo. I think I'm tentatively planning to do it. ;)) (Yes, I sound so confident and sure. :p) I really, really want to at least, and I'm hoping to, unless life majorly gets in the way or God sends me big red signs that say "DON'T DO NANO." ;))

*waves to ForeverFan, and the rest of her NaNo buddies from last year* Yep, I think we're friends on the NaNo site already. For anyone else that would like to add me, I'm ScarlettGamgee.

Also, in case anyone is wondering, I do not have a plot yet. B-) :p

On a scale from 1-10, how excited for NaNo are you? I'm about a 7, 8, or a 9. ;))

Oh dear.

I'm not sure this year. I want to do the "Read the Whole Bible in the Month of November", but I want to do NaNo as well... I'm not sure that's possible though; at least without becoming a hermit. And that's not very nice to my family. :)

I will have to think about it. I have a plot written out, but I'm not sure I like it. I wanted to do more planning this year, but I think I'll be winging it, IF I do it...

Which I'm not [really] planning to. Sort of trying to convince myself it's a bad idea.

I very much doubt I'll write anything this year - but I'm going to renew my account and read the discussions ... ;)

My fourth year of NaNo! It will also be my first year doing NaNo while working a job, so I'll have that added time restraint, not that I haven't worked around school before, and I don't have that this year.
This year I had decided to create my novel as I go along, because I tend to work better when I don't have an outline so the story can go wherever it needs to. I figured I would take a few plot dares and adoptables, and I would write my novel from those. But then someone gave me the plot dare to have my MC unknowingly be a twin, and for the twin to be a clown, and well...I sort of have a plot line I'm planning now. I'm not so much planning my novel as researching things that I know will probably be in my novel, so I'll have enough information to write as the story comes, not worry about details. :)

Queen Susan, taking on the challenge of reading the Bible through is far more important than writing a novel. I strongly encourage you to prioritize that. We'll miss you, of course, but what you're doing instead will have a lasting impact on your life. :)

Mountie, on a scale of 1 to 10 of excitement for NaNo, I think I'm about a 9. I just want to start and get writing. So I've been trying to work on other projects that have been sitting around, but apparently I can't just switch projects like that. ;))

Oh, it's that time of year already?

I don't know if I'll be able to manage NaNo this year. It was great fun last year, and I have lots more plot ideas for the characters I created for last year's novel, but school is kind of important. I might just go ahead and sign up and see what happens.

As annoyed as it makes me sometimes, I really am excited for you guys! I'll be rooting for you!!! (but PLEASE talk to me more this year during it. last year was... not fun for me )

And as I say every year... No. I am not joining you. Get over it :p

I can't wait to see how you progress!! And I'll still want to know what you're writing about! GOOD LUCK!!!

I've been looking forward to this year's NaNo since last December, but alas, due to unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances, I shall not be able to participate! :((

Although I shall not be here writing with you, I shall be with you in spirit. And I wish you all luck. O:)

I am going to do NaNoWriMo this year, but I'm going to be a bit of a rebel in my own right: I'm only aiming to hit 25k, not 50k. Why? Wellllll....

...I won't be writing it in English. ;;) As I started learning another language this year, I've decided I should go back to the first foreign language I ever learned, and write a story in that. Thus, my story will be in French. Because the challenge is, for me, to write coherently, and not to have an awesome plot, I'm considering basing my plot on a fairytale or something similar (and I'm taking suggestions on that front, too :P). If I actually hit 25k, frankly, I'll be ecstatic.

Ithi, too bad you can't to do it this year. :( One of my first thoughts when I decided to do mine in French was "Well, I guess I won't be challenging Ithi's amazing typing speed this year...." You'll be missed!

EDIT: Oh, yeah. Username is River_Song.

I'm doing the YWP program. =) My goal is either going to be 60k or 70k, depending on how busy my life gets. I'm really excited for NaNo. I have several plot ideas but haven't definitely decided on one yet(I have a tendency to decide on the first day of November).

Lady Arwen, that's really cool that you will be doing your novel in French. I don't think I could do a novelette in a different language. 25k is a lot of words to be doing in a foreign language....

Oh, and I was wondering how long a novel was. Because I've heard a lot of different views, but I'm still not sure which one is really a novel.

50K is a novel. Although, each book is different and there are many different lengths a book can be. Many books I've seen are 100K or more. But 50K+ seems to be the most common standard I've seen.
