400 words in and I'm already choking up. Is this a good thing?
p.s. I won't keep posting updates every 200 words, don't worry.
p.p.s. It looks like there's no option for putting a cover onto the NaNo site? Is that coming, or are they skipping that this year?

I'm in class. I might not even start today. I have been really stressing over something for the last 12 hours and it won't be resolved until tonight. So I may not start until tomorrow.
I haven't started yet. I'm listening to my school DVDs, and while I can post while listening, I cannot write while listening. I had to put not writing during school in my NaNo ten commandments.

I'm doing pretty good then: 5,000 words more or less . I had about 3,700 already written though, so that's probably considered cheating.

Happy NaNoWriMo Kick-Off Day, everyone!!
I believe I started writing around 1:45 last night, and wrote for about twenty minutes before hitting the hay. . . I had made brownies yesterday evening, and by that time, I was completely sugar rush'd out. I got in 500+ words for my Snow-White and Rose-Red retelling.
This morning I started on the story I am tentatively calling The Botanist's Granddaughter, which I have not planned at all. I started pecking out a few words, and all of the sudden I went, "I want a cat in this story!" And before I knew it, the entire first paragraph of the story was dedicated to how a ragamuffin fuzzball came to live with this girl and her aunt. The spontaneity of it all was rather awesome.
I'm surprising myself, but I am really loving writing different stories, because it keeps my brain's demands for variety satisfied. When I get a bit burned out with one story, I just hop over to another one and scribble for a while. So far, so good.
Despite my better judgement, I've decided to do NaNo this year. I'm rewriting (sort of) a fanfiction in the hopes of publishing it. So I've already got the basic storyline down, I just need to take away/add more original things to make the story and characters my own, without taking from the copywrited work I had written the fanfiction on.
P.S."Brooklyn!"
It is great to hear about the progress of each of you! And to those who have not yet been able to start, hang in there! I hope you'll be able to do it soon.
Things are going for me, I have about 3,000 words. It feels somewhat klunky and awkward as for the rest of the year I am a sworn non-writer, and so limit my writing to the occasional school essay, and blog posts. I haven't written fiction, real fiction, anyway, since last year. So it will take me some time to get back in the swing of things.
Now I'm procrastinating, er, listening to music (I'm compiling some NaNo-ing music, it must be of the suitable type) and planning on reading/researching the afternoon away.
And it appears I am glad for my laptop as well, as our power keeps cutting in and out. O.O
Dear days of old, with the faces in the firelight,
Kind folks of old, you come again no more.

I'm at 2100 words, and it's so much fun! Right now my writing is random, nothing is happening so I'm just making up stuff - the first part was description and backstory, and this is conversation right now. I really have to think about it, and you shouldn't do that in Nano. Anyway. I'm so happy, happy, happy - this is so FUN. I've given up hope of my story being good, but it'll be better, and the plot is definitely better. But my characters aren't complying. I'm having trouble keeping them from being cliche.
Good luck to all!

I am not even at 1000 yet - I'm currently at 786, according to Microsoft Word - but that is because I'm only writing in between classes in short bursts. My goal is to have 5000 words by tomorrow, because that is when I have to give a word count update to youth group, and I want it to be something that will impress them for after two days. I figure that will be enough, since I'm the only one doing NaNo this year. But I also have to average at least 2000 words per day when taking into account the days I know I won't be able to write, so if I can write extra while I'm still on my beginning sprint, then I will have nice word count padding for if (when) I have days I can't write my minimum.

Yay November is HERE!!!!! I'm so excited, I only managed to start writing in the evening, cause I was out the whole day, first at college classes then teaching english
so far I have 2,104 words, I would write more but my brother is making me go to bed
I hope to reach 5k tomorrow
always be humble and kind
Wow! Everyone's progressing so nicely.
I'm at 1301 with more to come today, I hope. It's kind of odd this year because the story will be divided into 2 sections: the best of times, and the worst of times. (I'm sure Dickens is rolling in his grave now ). Though it's a chronological story, I've been writing the opening parts of both sections as the inspiration strikes.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
Oh my gosh. How is it November already?!
I tried to friend everyone, but if I missed you, my NaNo username is Silvera - shoot me a mail/friend request/something.
Time to write! ....um, after I finish writing the rough draft of an English paper. Ahaha.

I'm at 1343 words, and trying to convince myself that I need to keep writing...lol
13 words... Hey I had classes all day and no lunch! My Brain is already fried.

1712 words for today. Not much over the average, but I really just want to take my time with this and write well. Besides that, I finished the prologue, and don't really want to start the first chapter quite yet. Better to do it all at once tomorrow, so that I won't have to bother consciously switching mindsets.
On the writing itself, I'm having an absolute blast. The words flowed magnificently, and everything I wanted to get across came, well, across. Hurrah for outlines doing their job!
Also, as per usual, word wars are awesome.
