I've set a new goal at 60k, and I think I'll be able to beat that without much of a problem. I'm at 54k now, and I hope to reach 56k by the end of the day.

Yesterday I was at 25k. By the end of the day I had 32k. I had 32k today and wrote the majority of my words this morning. Now I'm at 38k and still writing.

I agree that the pep talks often aren't very helpful/useful. My favorite this year was Chris Baty's, his seemed a lot more helpful and reassuring then the others. He was like, are you struggling? Me, too. Are you behind? Me, too. Are you giving up? Don't! I've done this before and things are about to get better, here are some tips for helping it to get better.

And I've written those 2,000 words and reached my personal goal of 5,000 words total!
Which isn't a lot, but realistic for this year

One of the Office of Letters and Light interns posted a Wordle of their novel the other day. I had fun making one out of mine today. (I'm finished with my novel so back off! )

Though I have to say, Orious, yours was one of the best peptalks I've read, ever. You should write peptalks for the Nano site. I'm sure they could use the help... And out of curiousity, just how do you make one of those Wordles? It's the most commonly used words in your novel, right?

Aaaand, lastly...I made 101k just before midnight, a few minutes ago. I wanted to scream when I realised I'd passed 100k. I've made it, and now with a little more push, I can finish the story and validate!

I'm just over 5K away...I can almost taste it! And I think, hopefully, I can actually finish the story right at or about 50K. Some would call it rushing the story (okay, I would call it rushing), but it will work, and I'll have a purple bar for my very first NaNo year!

I should have made the Wordle clearer. It is a cloud of my most used words. I created it on Wordle.com by pasting in my novel and then picking the color, font, etc. I wanted for it. (Annoyingly enough, Wordle doesn't have a "save to computer" button/option, I had to take a screen capture.)

And at long last, I validated, for the first time ever! I finished my story and clocked in a 112,124 words. The site skived off about 80 words, but I'm content with my total.

Hearty congrats to all those who've won this year - and also to those breaking 100k. I'm astounded at the spectacular word counts this year.

My story wrapped up at about 65k, and (unlike last year) all that came in November. I even got a couple ideas for other short stories, or even next year's NaNo, with some plot threads that weren't crucial for this story but mght be worth pursuing later on.
