I had a great time at the NoWN last night!! Thank you, Gymfan for the idea, and thank you to everyone else who was there!! I got a lot of writing done, and I'm really close to 50K now.

I was reading a little of what I wrote last night, and flam told me that I should post this one little bit. I had forgotten about it until I read it just now, but it might be one of my favorite parts of my book so far...

“We brought Tweedlefuzz along [so, why can't we bring Darryn?].” She replied annoyed at how Kelson was treating her. It wasn’t long before she realized that what she had said had been stupid.
“Tweedlefuzz is a chipmunk, Arianne.” Kelson said slowly.

It doesn't make any sense out of context, but it's funny in the book.

Hmm, I listen to music sometimes when I'm writing. Last night I just had iTunes on shuffle, so I had a lot of random songs playing. I tend to gravitate more towards instrumental songs for writing, but sometimes the lyrics can really help.

My brain seriously wants to die right now. I just wrote 7k. And I still want to write 3000 more before midnight (and hit 50k!). It's 7:30 now so... it's possible. But... but...

NANOWRIMO ATE MY SOUL... AND BRAIN.

I just did it!! My word count has reached 50,111 words, and I am the proud owner of a green bar!!! I feel like bouncing off the walls right now!! (note: I actually probably would be if doing so wouldn't wake up my family. )

All I can say about this is just... wow! This month, this challenge, is the greatest thing ever! I love NaNoWriMo!!!

I'm gonna try and finish my novel this month, since I still have almost half of the month left. This would be the first book I have ever actually finished.

Anyways, off to bed now.

Yay, flambeau! I also crossed into the green bar territory about half an hour ago (still with just over two hours to spare until midnight! Woohoo!)

I FEEL GIDDY. And now I'm rewarding myself by reading a (fiction) book for the first time since October.

I have just over 7k left until I'm done! I'm now writing tons and tons and tons of filler because honestly, my novel could end within the next 700 words! And it CAN'T do that!!!!!!! I need 7.1k more!!! Anyway, maybe I'll have some new inspiration for another twist tomorrow.

Ah.. everyone's so ahead, I feel really bad admitting I haven't reached 30k yet.

Then again, I didn't get to hang out in the chat.. what was it, two nights ago? So, I'm getting busier and busier as this month goes on.. about a day behind on my word count, and my story doesn't really seem to be getting anywhere. I'll keep going.. but right now, it's not so much fun.

Last evening I discovered a plot hole I'd inadvertently created during a hectic time of writing. But it was kind of fun having the characters 'tell' me how to straighten it out.

On handwriting: last year I had limited computer access over the Thanksgiving weekend, so I handwrote quite a few pages as the inspiration struck - I'm one of those old fogies who only has a desktop PC at home; no laptop, and my handwriting is messy and much slower going than my keyboarding. So when I returned home I madly typed it into my story. (By then, I knew I wasn't going to get to 50k. That memory was one incentive to really get cracking in the first half of the month this year).

Well, last night, I went over my entire novel and straightened out the days. There were at least four instances where I said it was Saturday and in fact it was a Tuesday or I said it was a Sunday and it ended up being a Friday and there were instances where whole WEEKS were left out and so I just went down a page in my NLtL (ideas) document like this:

Su 1--Important event that happens today
M 2--Another important even
Tu 3--So and so gets kidnapped
W 4--So and so escapes

etc. So now all my days line up correctly!!!

I feel really bad admitting I haven't reached 30k yet.

AH! Team Polly is ahead by less than two hundred words! Come on, guys! It's up to you all now because I just finished my story! I contributed my 58,134 words and now I'm dropping my end of the table. (?? )

See what I mean, Aslans Country? I just made the experience of NaNoWriMo twelve days shorter than it needed to be. No more NaNo until next year. Stupid overachiever me. lol

Another option would be, type a word like "november" or a five-word phrase like "happy cupcakes are beautiful" or whatever, copy and paste it 5,000 times and then add that to your actual novel.

So, officially, I'm past 30k. But still not achieving my personal goals...

I'm looking for someone to hold me accountable for the rest of November. Since i've got my shiny green bar, there's a whole lot less incentive for me to keep working on this particular story; but NaNoWriMo is about challenging yourself, and evidently 50k wasn't enough of a challenge this year. I've set a new goal of 75k, but if i write as much as i did yesterday (only about 800 words), i'm probably not going to meet it.

Any takers?
