My current word-count is 34,762 - which means i'm 15,238 words away from 50k. In order to get to 50k on the 16th, i'll need to write approximately ... slightly less 4k words a day. Hmm ...
Well, things are going in starts and stops here, but the starts feel fantastic. I have to say, i love how my two main characters are interacting. They're getting along in a cautiously friendly, held-at-arms-length kind of way, but that will still make falling in love later be believable. Well, in my mind at least; and as i'm the only one reading it, that works out great.
I wish i could go the last 238 to 35k, but alas; i have to get off the computer. More writing tomorrow.
(p.s. It's snowing!!)

Well, a few days ago, I got an awesome idea for my novel. It would be great but in order to do it, I'd have to cut out at least 600 words. So I was debating whether or not to change part of the novel and cut my word count when my inner editor broke the lock on the closet I'd locked him in and jumped out saying, "No, don't, you'll cut your word count." So for several days, I didn't do it but today, I finally locked my inner editor back in the closet and said, "I'm doin' this!!" So yes, I had to cut over 600 words but I had to write more to fill in so the story would still flow. And I'm currently at over 26k. In YO face, inner editor!
O green bar, thou hath beauty beyond the lot of mortals. I passed 50k yesterday afternoon (thanks for the congrats, Meltintalle, and back at you ). And then I had to dash off to work and didn't get another thing done well all day.
My story is doing stupid things. In the middle of a scene supposed to be chocked with suspense, I kept thinking, "There needs to be another character here." So I FINALLY went back and added in this character I didn'teven know existed before, and who has quickly made herself my new FMC. This would normally be great, but it puts my novel way back in the planning stages again, because I have to figure out who she is and where she fits into all of this...and then go back and put her into the last 48k words, where she's been missing. Augh!
Good for you, Narnian_at_heart! In yo face...ha ha.
Congrats, Gymfan and ChristProclaimer, for reaching 50k!
With some work I could reach 50 during the NoWN. My enthusiasm for this story started out more slowly than last year, but over the last week it's really picked up. I'm around 37k and still have some fun stuff in the pipeline.
My distraction today is the 6 inches of snow outside, with up to 12 more coming. How can I write when I want to go play?
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
Ack, I am such a horrible sinner.
I have had to start writing two stories, and letting both stories count towards my word count...
The sad thing is, even after doing that, my word count is still only at about 5400 right now...
I'm just really busy, which means in order to do something like NaNo, the story I'm writing has to be of personal importance to me in order to have to motivation to do something like that... which, unfortunately, the first story doesn't really have much of. The new story I started up is of fair personal importance to me, although I'll keep working on the first story as well...
Anyways, I'll update my word count once I finish one chapter of the new story, and then I'll see just how close I can get to 50,000 within the month...

I'm back in town, and verrrrry tired. I'm going to try and get some writing in tonight, but I don't know how much I'll get done. We shall see.
Ohhhhh, Gymfan, you are evil!!! Putting Dee and myself on separate teams?? That's like having a Yankee and a southerner living in the same house during the Civil War; chaos will ensue!!!
Hmmm, so Team Polly is currently behind? I'm feeling the pressure now!! And I was so wanting to take the rest of tonight off as well. Fine, I shall submit! ...
Calling all TeamP members... C'mon youz guys! Let's catch 'em!!
Edit: oh, Gymmie, I don't think you have added her yet but lavendersblue is a NWebber as well. She's Elanor, DTR's sister.

Team Polly is closing the gap! *cheers* I should be able to add to that word total later today (Sunday).
And if I can get to 42 or 43k later today, I may have a shot at hitting 50k during that NoWN. Alas, though, real life threatens to intrude and hinder the progress a bit.
A random quote from the story (I'm experimenting with altering POV in different chapters - sometimes third person, and sometimes first person by Erik or Abby. It's fun!)...
But Erik had his own way of dealing with [the kids]. “I bet it’ll be here before you know it,” he said. “Now who want ice cream?”
“Bribing them with treats?” I teased, confident my voice wouldn’t carry over the cheerful shouts of our two oldest.
“But of course. And I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t mind having some right now either.”
“It depends how much chocolate there is,” I grinned.
“But you just had some,” he objected, indicating the empty dish at my feet.
“And your point?”
Abby likes her chocolate.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
Hey, Sleepwalking! Glad to see you back! I had your NaNo info from last year, so you're already added to the main list of NWebber's warring, and the Team war. Team Digory is quite fortunate to have you writing for them!
Aw! Just found out that we're invited somewhere for supper/evening on the 16th! I'm sad about that now. It'll be fun though... And I might get in two hours before midnight when I get back... but I won't get nearly as much writing done this week as I had hoped.... Oh well? :/ It's ok.

Just so everyone knows, flambeau dropped out of the Team war. But never fear, Team Polly! Things are looking to get much brighter.
P.S. Before Team Digory starts howling, let me say that it was probably a bit unfair in how I divided up the teams initially, so it was a given that Team Polly would be behind. And even though they now have a very big heavy hitter in their ranks *coughmecough*, Team Digory is VERY close! So it's still anyone's game.
May that inspire everyone to keep writing more and more!
Well, i'm doing *my* part for Team Digory - 4,227 words written today. So far, on track for finishing on 11/16.
I've hit a couple rough patches, but so far i've managed to get through all of them. Just have to keep pressing on, i guess.

I have tried to help Team Polly. I love Sundays that I DON'T have to work on. I've written over 3k today and I'm hoping to write at least 4k before going to bed. I'm over 30k already!! I can't believe how well it's going!!!! My goal is to finish on the 25th. I have dance camp all day on the 26th, 27th, and 28th so I won't get much writing done those days. It'd be amazing if I was done before then! But even if I am, I plan to keep writing and get as much as possible before the end of November.
GO TEAM POLLY!!!!
Come on, Team Digory, we can make it!
Okay, I shouldn't be talking, seeing as I haven't written in two days, but I'm working on it...I had to work eleven hours yesterday and then ten today. Go away, Life! You ruin my concentration!
Yep, I'll almost certainly be there for the NoWN. I think I'll need it...
