Ahh... I wish today had been a good writing day... I really need to focus. I've been uber distracted. The first five days were good, which I think was because I didn't have the distraction of friends (just school, but that's extremely easy right now... except for the algebra.). I'm trying to get back into the swing of things, but my grandmother is not doing well at all and that's another distraction.
Currently, my characters are rebelling. I wanted no romance what so ever in this novel, yet here my favorite non MC is falling in love with my MC... They also are doing quite a bit of traveling. So I'm in the same boat as Silver. I'm not thrilled with the quality of my work, but hey, NaNo's about quantity right?
Off to try to reach 14k...

Two years ago, my MCs would have been happy to wander through the countryside (in winter!) for 50,000 words. I didn't let them, but it took some forcing. One would think trying to save their homeland would have been motivation enough; apparently not.
Having a little trouble concentrating this evening, but as i'm at 17k i'm not too concerned. Still hope to get a few more hundred words in before the night is over.
My part-time job starts tomorrow! I'm glad to have work, particularly at-home over-the-computer work, but i'm a little nervous about how it's going to affect doing NaNoWriMo. We'll have to see.

Good luck on that new job, Arwenel!
21400 and it's time to go to bed. Especially since my body's still on DST and thinks its after 1 am.
A silly exchange I wrote in my story today, vaguely based on something a kid told me once (the background is that Erik is something of a storyteller, and parts of the story are old-time events he's reminiscing about):
“Tell us a story, Daddy,” Molly prompted.
“I think I’m fresh out. I’ve been telling a lot of them lately.”
“You’re so old,” his daughter teased. “More things must have happened to you.”
“Ouch!” he moaned. “You know, I’m so old I don’t remember any more stories.”
Of course his kids aren't going to let that fly.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
Well, I'm at almost 19k and I'm running out of steam.
I don't know what more to put in my novel. I'm at the end basically. I could finish it in the next 2000 words or so.
Well, yes, I have an idea to expand it a lot more but I really didn't want to use that idea. It would turn my novel (as I think I mentioned before on here) into a sci-fi/fantasy novel which I really didn't want to do. That idea I got from a NaNoWriMo adoptables forum and I can't figure out how to twist the idea enough that it won't be sci-fi/fantasy. So I'm off to the NaNo forums to get ideas from people.

You are all doing awesome!! The word counts are so impressive!!
I hit 25.7k last night!! A day later than I had wanted to, but still very exciting! I was gone most of Saturday and didn't have a chance to get a ton of writing done, though I still got in a fair amount in before bed.
I'm loving all of these late night writing sessions! I just can't seem to get myself into the writing zone until after 1 in the afternoon (at the earliest), and then I usually don't hit my stride until pretty late in the evening.
My book is going pretty well, which makes me happy. I'm surprised that nearly everything I've written so far is in sequence. I've never done that before! I usually jump ahead, write a bunch of stuff that I'm not sure of what is going on exactly, jump back to where I was and try to figure out how to make the later stuff fit with it, jump back ahead again, etc. With this book though, I have nearly an entire book from the beginning up until where I am currently writing. Pretty good feeling.
It's week two, folks!! I'm really hoping that I can make it through without hitting the dreaded second week slump! I haven't hit a slump yet, but I'm getting close to reaching the end of what I have planned out in detail, and I'm kinda foggy on the details of what happens after that. I know how it ends, but I'm unsure of the details leading up to all of that. We'll see how it goes! We're going out of town on Thursday, and will be gone until Saturday at least, so that will give me a break from writing and I'll hopefully come back with a fresh perspective on where I should go next.
I actually fell asleep with my laptop in the middle of typing a sentence at 2am last night. I made an executive decision to go to bed even though I was 200 words short of where I wanted to be.
That made me crack up so bad!!
flambeau - I named a character Flambeau yesterday. I was flipping through The Complete Father Brown for inspiration (what? Chesterton is my all time favorite author, so it makes sense! ) and I was trying to give this character a last name. I could have named him anything, but I decided to be terribly bold and name him after the great thief Flambeau. So now Flambeau he is and he's turning out to be a very Chestertonian character. Anyhow, thought you might find it interesting that your username makes an appearance in my novel.
WoooHooo!! That's awesome! Chesterton characters, ftw, right?
Shame I don't have a place in my novel for one.
winterlife, I really liked your quote here. Very cool!
I know I have some new favorite quotes since my last post, but I don't remember what they are at the moment. Maybe I'll post a few later.
Keep going everyone!! Keep churning out those words!

I have a lot of help writing.
In fact, I have had so much help that when a new story idea presented itself, instead of telling it to wait, I decided to see if I could write two novels in a month. However, in its favour, the second story is so much fun to write and I have no idea what is going to happen next--which is something I was missing in my other story. Also, it tossed some Burma Shave signs into a spooky wood and I couldn't resist writing the scene.
Oh, I forgot: I was gonna ask, does anyone have/know of a strange/really long name they'd be willing to let me borrow?

New favorite quote - sadly, it is fairly context-dependent, and from a Star Wars fanfic. Consider yourself warned.
The younger woman took a step forward, then stopped herself. "I do not need you to tell me what war is like," she said in a low, intense voice. "And I do not need you to remind me what I lost in the past. I don't know who you are, where you come from, or why you are interested in me, but I am not obligated to do what you, or he - " she pointed towards Atton without taking her eyes off Kreia, " - or anybody else wants me to do. I fought war once, and lost, yes; everything, like you said. I tried running and hiding, and that didn't work either. If I'm going to die at the hands of the Sith, I'd a thousand times rather do it on my own terms, standing up for something, than after a lifetime of running, hiding, and looking over my shoulder."
Poor, poor Anna. Her life sucks, and it's only going to get worse. At least she's willing to stand up for herself.

Get job guys!!! Love the stories and word counts!!! Keep up the good work!
I got majorly inspired today!!!! I've been having the hardest time for the past two days trying to figure out where I want to go with my story since my characters are all introduced and ready to be thrown into the main story. But now, after today, I know exactly how to set the book up for the next few sequels. My story originally started off as a one book novel but now it's developing into a multi-novel series!!!! I'm so excited!!! I have the first book planned out and I haven't even got to the main section of my story idea!!!! WOOOT!!!!!! I'm so excited!!!!!!! (We seriously need and excited smiley)

Do those work? They're under "View more smilies"
Just hit 24.5k and putting the novel away until tomorrow. I wanted to hit 25k today and I got within 500 of that. I am pretty pleased. I do not think I have ever had this much on the eighth day before.
My novel is going excellently at the moment. At least, compared to my sister things are going fantastic. She started late and then lost 6k (back up your novels!!). She started again and when she hit 2k she lost it all again. She gave up on using machines to write, she is switching to paper and pen. Any minute now our house is going to go up in flames and her notebook will be burnt. It is just not her year!

So I'm finally caught up, according to the NaNo site...
*goes and checks and puts in her final, post-word-war number*
...and, I haven't changed my settings after DST, so it thinks it's after midnight, which means I am apparently still behind and am going to end on December 2.
*grrr* Well, I was ahead.
Thanks for all the word wars, everyone. Without you and them, I would have quit by now from hopelessness! (Oh, and sorry I so abruptly left our chat this evening. My internet decided to stop working...it does that. )
Just keep swimming!

Well, I'm truly shocked. I had VERY little time to write today; I had maybe an hour in the afternoon, and then I was out all evening, and didn't really sit down at the computer until 11:45. And I only had 1.5 of my 5k in the bank for the day. Eeep!
But I got it done! Shaved just over 40k one minute before midnight. That is the closest I've ever done, lol! But it's a great boost at the end of the night...knowing that I actually got all my words written, and I didn't slack off, makes me feel very happy.
Just 10k, or two days left to go! I'm SO excited to finally get over that all-important 50k mark. I'll still have another 50k to go, but still, it's a big confidence boost!

Everyone, I know I haven't been doing as much cheerleading in here as I did last year, but I'm still rooting for ya! You all are doing an AMAZING job!
I was insanely busy yesterday so I didn't get in 1667 words. I'm still ahead of where I should be but I'm sad that I only wrote about 200 yesterday.
