Ok, so I did. Aww rats. Now I have PRIOR EXPECTATIONS TO LIVE UP TO! No excuse to fail now.

Although in my defense, technically I only got to 7k on the second day because I wrote the remaining 3k after midnight. Not that it helps, but yeah...

So, you and me, fambeau; let's get that 10k together! Although I really don't know how that's going to work because I will be gone ALL day tomorrow. Why does Day 2 have to fall on election day?!?

I've only reached about 1300 words. But that's not too bad, since about the first 1000 were written shortly after midnight last night and were far from impressive.

For some reason getting over this first chapter hurdle was easier last year. But onward and upward!

Yikes, I've been writing for about thirty minutes so far (I got the opening line down at midnight, but was too tired to do anything beyond that ), and all I have is around. . . *runs 'em through a wordcounter* . . . 215 words.

I think I shall have to tie up the part of me that's a perfectionist and put her in the closet for the time being. She's giving me all kinds of trouble. Out with the quality, in with the quantity! I have all of December to spend cringing.

I've got about 1.5k words, Queen Susan, but I am with you on the title and cover! Not having a cover doesn't bother me but it would be nice to have a title.

Gymfan, I was hoping my opening line would open the flood gates, that the line would be attached to a paragraph which would be assist the birth of a chapter. I love it when that happens. It took me a little bit more work to get this story going, the flood gates had more than one lever that needed to be pulled before they'd open. I dare say my opening line wasn't awful but it really wasn't what I wanted. Oh well! It's NaNoWriMo and I'm flying by the seat of my pants.

I've looked at my calender and while I don't know if I can realistically get to 10k by midnight tomorrow, I have all day Wednesday off so there's no reason why I shouldn't be back on track with 15k by the end of that day. At least that's the plan!

After writing until 3 a.m., I have 1.3k words. I'm going to write a bit more today, because I know I will probably loose steam as Novemer rolls along, so I want to get as far ahead as possible before I start not getting as far ahead each day (if that makes sense ).
And surprisingly, I haven't written too much junk yet. At least, I don't think it's junk.

It still feels like pulling teeth for me. But I looked over my 2009 novel last night, and that had a MISERABLE beginning. Nightmarishly boring, stiff, unrealistic, and just plain strange. So I am off to a more promising start this time. After about another 1k, I think I'll be in my groove.

BUT I HAVE TO CHANGE POV'S! 2k in, I'm just completely switching from third to first person. My heroine has been annoyingly aloof these past 2000 words and I'm not going to stand for it.

Ahem. Excuse me. My novel this year is last year's revisited, refreshed, refurbished, rehabilitated, revamped, and from a few different characters' POVs. (Though I hit 50k last time, I never actually finished the story...) I've also added new characters and more layers to the plot. So hopefully I'll get 'er done.

Song! Been so long. *cries* But anyways. I've been having the same problem with my leading lady. Apparently, (got this info via her little brother) she thinks I got quite enough 'into her head' last time (going into agonizing detail), and that she is not inclined to 'let me in' this go 'round. Or even speak to me.

Humph. Well fine. Like I said, I have NEW characters. What do I need her for.
Well...she is just about the most important character in the book, y'know.

Ugh. It's 3:30 PM on the 1st, and I'm at 3.3k. Which means I've done enough writing for two days...so why do I feel so down about it? Oh, that's right, because everything I've written is utterly boring rot. That's why. And no, I don't have a cover either. *pouts* I just didn't have time to make a mock-up before November rolled around.

And I really should be doing my sciences right now. Why did the first day of November have to fall on a Monday?

10k in two days? Oh, I was so jealous of you last year, Gymfan. If it hadn't been for all of you guy's insanely high word counts, I would never have been motivated enough to win. I feel the competitive juices kicking in again...

as of now I'm at just over 3500 words. my goal is to get at least 5000 by midnight tonight and I don't think I'll have any problem with doing that since I'm only 1500 words shy

Well.
After all my deliberations and quandaries and debatings, I made a decision on Saturday to be a rebel and work on my current MS.
On Monday, I changed my mind.
So, here I am, working on a completely new story that I love mostly because of its title (The Mistress Facade - I kinda love it. A lot. No, I'm not biased! ) and the "cover" I made for it. Though it's not really a cover. It's a signature for the NaNo site. And now that it's November, I don't really have time to be transforming it into a cover right now. :/

It would probably be a historical romance if it wasn't NaNo (historical research drives me batty!), so we're just calling it a fantasy romance for now. (And yes, it's going to be totally clean, and no, it's not a Harlequin, I promise!!!!! I know the title makes it sound worse than it is...I just love the sound of the words...it may be the first time I've ever had a title I liked.)
And I'm already 1800 words in!

Well, Jonathan Castellan (secondary narrator) finally showed up, though he hasn't developed too much of a personality yet. Of course, he just got dragged through the castle hallways at around 2AM and received the biggest, most unpleasant shock of his life, so he's probably a little out of it right now.

But that's no excuse for not knowing what to do next, mister! Start talking to me right now! I mean it!

And i hope the captain of the guard comes across as loyal, not a jerk ...

No cover art for me either. sigh. I can picture it, but i'm no good at getting what i see down onto paper; or the computer, for that matter.

10k in two days? Maybe some other year ... I'm not going to get anywhere near half of that tonight.

My sister and brother are doing NaNoWriMo this year too. My brother's 14, so he's aiming for @10k instead of 50k. I wish my mom could do it too, but she's really busy with work and stuff.

(Ugh, i hope my novel doesn't turn out this disjointed.)

Let's do it!! I'm getting psyched just thinking about it! Last year I didn't hit 10k until week two (it so stinks being sick when you want to write. Totally wrecks your concentration, let me tell you.), so I want this bad. Real bad.
