Lady Lilliandil, wow! I too play the violin. Do you play Vivaldi's pieces?
No , I like Bach. I'm not that good but I would try it if I could figure it out! I do like classical more than most music. How long have you been playing?

I've been playing since I was 4 years old so meaning... 11 years. You? I play Suzuki pieces. Good to know that you're in an orchestra That's completely huge. I dream of being also in an orchestra, and I'm still in progress of doing so.

Hey, sandyentersNarnia and Lady Lilliandil, I play violin as well!!! Though I am positive I'm younger than both of you... I play Suzuki pieces, sandy. Did you go through the Suzuki program as a child? I'm currently in it... been playing Suzuki for nearly 4 years, but have been playing violin for a total of nearly 7 (I think). Love it!!!

I'm not sure, but I know you have played longer than me! I have played the Suzuki books in privet lessons, but I did not like it that much.

I like some of the songs, but I would enjoy taking a break from the books every once in a while. Unfortunately we stick to the books and scales.
How long have you been playing?
I've been playing the piano for 10 1/2 years. I've been playing the trumpet for 4 1/2 years. I also play a lot of other instruments a little bit, such as the baritone, xylophone, triangle...
Have you performed in public?
Yes.
Are there instruments you don't play that you would like to learn?
Yes, guitar. I feel so out of American music culture by not knowing it.
What type of music do you prefer to play?
Classical, although lately I've more enjoyed playing recent pop songs because my peers and school will actually recognize the tune when I play it on the piano.
Do you write music or lyrics of your own?
I write songs on the piano from time to time, but I haven't taken composition theory classes or anything so I don't think they're very good.
This is my YouTube channel where I upload some music videos I've made with various instruments: www.youtube.com/aSongScout
Oh my goodness, MinotaurforAslan, it's your face!!! Okay, well, I've never seen you without the paper bag... Didn't know you were into music! Your life extends beyond the guy with the paper bag and the awesome Narnia videos!
I am loving the This is Home one... I really like the way you did the video itself, too.
Okay, so I, uh, am kinda teaching myself piano. I know four chords so far. I was wondering if anyone could recommend any books on how chords are constructed. You know, not just the chords, but how to make them. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

How long have you been playing?
So far, I'm taking piano lessons and I've been taking the lessons for 4 years. I started when I was 16 and I must say I skipped a lot of levels I'll be taking level 8 this June. At the moment, I'm taking piano theories as well. I take them for the sole of being able to teach the beginners but it's still a good thing for me. I only did more on practical before. Gotta dig deeper into theories. Need to improve sight-reading and play-by-ear technique. I doubt I can do well with the latter.
Have you performed in public?
Yes, twice. Planning to do more performances if possible.
Are there instruments you don't play that you would like to learn?
Violin, I just had the calling that I should take violin.
What type of music do you prefer to play?
Any kind. More on classical and modern pieces though. Classical for knowledge on music notations and modern (and the likes) for solid entertainment.
Do you write music or lyrics of your own?
Nah.
NaiadWaker: I play Suzuki pieces since I started my violin lessons but sometimes we do other pieces besides Suzuki, like Four Seasons or Motto Perpetoi (forgot the spelling). Wow! Nice to meet a violinist who plays the same pieces I did! What book are you now by the way? Are you Asian?? ;D.
"Two sides of the same coin"
Does anyone here go to music school? Like where you have musical literature and no matter what instrument you play you have to learn to play on the piano? Just wondering if they have those around the world, cause in Russia all music schools are like that.

1. I'm nearly done with book 3. Pretty much one book per year right now. I kind of wish I started from the beginning of my violin playing, but at the time we lived in a place where there wasn't a Suzuki program...
2. Yep, yep, yep! (see profile picture ). Mostly Filipino but a little Chinese. Interestingly, I'm the only non-adopted Asian in my entire Suzuki group. Which, it's cool how all these kids get adopted!!! Sorry, off topic.
Have you completely finished the Suzuki program?
Hi, I'm new to this thread.
How long have you been playing? I'm not sure, a couple years, though I wouldn't call it playing exactly.
Have you performed in public? No.
Are there instruments you don't play that you would like to learn? I might want to do violin.
What type of music do you prefer to play? I pick things out on the piano and guitar...so I'm not a real musician.
Do you write music or lyrics of your own? Not really. I made a tiny little tune once...

Hi, Lucy of Narnia! Is two years how long you've been playing piano, or guitar, or both?

Two for piano, several months back I did a bit of guitar then stopped. Can't truly play either, just mess around on them sometimes.
