Congrats narnian_at_heart! I am also learning, but I don't really like the guitar...

Woo, I really am in love with Harry Gregson William's compositions! Also Dario Marianelli's. Both are great musicians and composers of great movies. Wonder how they got those skills...

Ok...I have played piano 7 years...guitar for 2...french horn for 2...
In order best to worst I would say that piano is best then french horn then guitar...I really like them all tough...

Long live Aslan!
Okay, after a few miserable weeks where I couldn't play guitar (wrist tendonitis flare-up), I can play again! I hope to be able to play at least one song for my church's Christmas program tomorrow.

No, sorry But I have a mic now, although it's not great quality, so I can hopefully get one recorded soon.

That's great winterlife Is playing the guitar hard at first???
"Two sides of the same coin"
I would say that any instrument is hard when one first starts. The real question should be, "Is it fun?" because if it's fun, it is easier to get past the times when it's hard without giving up.
The challenge with playing guitar comes from two aspects, I would say: strength and multitasking. It takes strength to play chords clearly (and even some strength for strumming, especially more complex strums), and I have yet to see a beginning guitarist who can keep strumming while changing chords. I had wanted to play guitar for so long, though, that the joy of finally learning carried me through the really hard beginning stages and brought me to where I can more easily play.

I play the violin. I have been playing for 4 years. I am in the highest orchestra in school and I love it. If I could learn to play any other instrument in would be the clavichord an the mandolin. I have no clue why but they sound soooo cool! I have done so many concerts that I'm not even stage fright any more!

How long have you been playing? I've been playing piano for about 6 or 7 years and I've been singing ever since I was in the third grade. Thats when I had my first singing lesson.
Have you performed in public? I play piano at my church sometimes, I played and sang at my sister's graduation last year. I've been singing in competitions ever since I was in the 5th grade
Are there instruments you don't play that you would like to learn? I'm trying to learn guitar .. its kinda hard because I have little fingers and stretching is hard
What type of music do you prefer to play? I play hymns and classical but I like playing my on usic best
Do you write music or lyrics of your own?I do. I just started writing last year and I've written alot of songs since then.

cuppycakesrach, what size is your guitar? Is it full size? If so, you might find it easier to play a 7/8 scale guitar, or even just a guitar with a smaller neck diameter.
