*sigh* So many guitars, so little time...
Does anyone have a suggestion on how to balance out my practice time amonst all my guitars? I want to be comfortable playing all three, but I have limited practice time.

sandyentersNarnia: the next one is around the end of November beginning of December. that's nice that someone would like to hear me play, no one has ever told me that before! (my family get so sick of the songs that I play so they are more like "Can you stop playing!" rather than "Could you play that song for me?" but I get kind of sick of the songs that my sisters play (me and my 3 sisters all play piano) too so I can relate!
winterlife: my brother used to have a Taylor guitar but he sold it to get a bike....what kind of guitars do you have?

LuvNarnia: I have two acoustics (one Fender and one Yamaha) and one electric (Squire).
Alot of guitarists who play acoustic wish they had Taylor guitars. I'd rather have the guitar than the bike.

Chances are, there is one guitar you prefer for each song. Professional artists have multiple guitars and play each song on the guitar best suited to it. Try assigning each song a specific guitar and then play the songs equally.
LuvNarnia: Whoa, that's a bit harsh for me. Of course I would love to hear you play! I seldom play here because of tight schedule and lots of things to do. Well, hope to hear you soon! .

I get to play piano for church for the next two or three Sundays while my parents are out of town. And youth group should start in a couple weeks and I can't wait to start playing piano for that. It took me FOREVER to arrange my college classes so I could still do youth group!
While I was gone over the summer, I wrote down a whole bunch of sheet music I want to get. I was just itching to play again because I didn't get to play for more than two months!
So how many compositions have you made already^?.

Me? Not really any. I have written about 45 songs. All of which are just lyrics written down when I got inspired to write. I have not written music to any of them. I have tried multiple times but I just can't write piano music to songs I've already written. When I write songs, I write them to a tune that pops into my head when I'm writing and then I just can never get the same sound on paper that I was imagining in my head. I have written three piano pieces without lyrics. My piano teacher releases a CD each year of songs that her piano students composed. (Search Hearts and Hands: Maiden Voyage and Hearts and Hands II: Encore on iTunes if you want to hear them.) And even just writing piano music is hard for me. Lyrics are easy for me but music is hard.
I wrote music to one of her (narnian_at_heart's) songs. She writes very good lyrics.

wow, great job guys! I don't even know how to compose yet, but am planning to. Keep it up!

I'm not great at reading music, but I can do it well enough to get by. I write down my melody lines and use chords to construct my guitar parts. I need to learn piano to help me with that.

I don't do anything complex, just a melody and chords. I would like to get to the point where I can do something more intricate, but I'm not there yet.

winterlife, I have done the same thing in the past, but mostly on the piano. For some reason it's harder on the guitar.
My friend and I have written songs together. I will write the words in poem style, and then send them to her where she puts together the chords on her acoustic guitar. One of my problems is that while I'm writing, I'll come up with a tune so I can write the song easier. However, it's incredibly hard for me to put a song to music if it already has a tune, and by the time the song is finished, the tune I had is already ingrained in my head. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to overcome that?
