Musician's Friend has at least one 7/8 scale acoustic for sale.

That is the link to the mobile page, but it should work. Musician's Friend usually sells used guitars for less, too, so maybe you can find something used for even less.

Honestly, I just find it easier to bar the whole thing. Sure, it doesn't ring as nicely, but it's easier for me.
PELS: Hang in there! It sure is annoying though. I still have lots of trouble with F.
I've been playing for over three years, and I still have trouble with barring. I can do it on an electric just fine, but I have not been able to barr well on an acoustic since my wrist trouble. I'm working on it.

Many years ago I used to play trombone. I really enjoyed it...most folks starting off in brass want to go with the trumpet or cornet, but the trombone was really very fun. Ever after that I tend to listen sometimes more to the bass side of a piece of music (where the brass typically resides) more than the treble parts. I guess that's why I love hearing brass-heavy compositions so much.
And there's nothing like working the slide on it and pretending one is a great jazz player, or what not.

Today my piano teacher gave me back my score sheet from the Guild. This was my fourth year playing it,and my third getting a superior rating. I compared it with my score card from the first three years, and this years score was the highest even though the pieces were harder. I was just so...humbled,I guess, and thankful as I realized how God's placed oppourtunities in my life for my talent and love of music to grow.
Thank you so much, Kate & winterlife! The tips here have been so helpful!
winter, I printed off all those songs, as well as Come Thou Fount. I can play all of them easily and it's so much fun to finally be able to play something! Thanks for finding those for me! The cheater chords have also helped a lot, so thanks to everyone who posted those.
I have another question - I'm able to read chord charts pretty easily but can someone tell me what it means when there is an X on the string? I haven't quite figured that out yet. My thought is that it means you don't play the string - but I want to know for sure.
Thank you, everyone!

An X on a chord means you don't play it at all. You just skip it with your pick or finger or whatever.
Since we're on that subject, do you guys use picks? If so, what thickness?
I do use a pick. I prefer heavier picks, but I sometimes use a medium if I want to play more quietly. I don't like thin picks at all. And I play without a pick sometimes when I'm not strumming.

I don't use picks, not yet at least. Since I am new at playing guitar I just play the way my teacher tells me, and for now I play without picks.

Thanks, Kate!
As of right now, I do not use a pick. I prefer to, but I lost the one I had. Rather than stop playing guitar altogether, I decided to start using my thumb. It works, but causes blistering, and doesn't produce as nice a sound as a pick, so it's not my first choice. Hopefully I'll be able to get a pick soon!

Kate, I prefer to use thin picks. When I play with a heavy pick it slips from my fingers.
I just realized yesterday that my guitar strap has been on wrong. Do all guitars have a place to put the end of your guitar strap? Sorry if this question is confusing.

MountainFireflower: Try using the back of your fingernails for your downstrum, and the back of your thumbnail for the upstrums. That is a little easier on the hands, and has a better sound.
PELS: That is a confusing question. I'll try to answer it anyway.
Each guitar strap has a hole at each end. Most guitars have two buttons that the holes go over. Some acoustic guitars only have one, and the other end of the strap has to be tied to the headstock. It doesn't matter which hole you put on which button.
Did that answer your question? If not, could you be a little more specific?

I got Evanescence's songbook for Fallen from the library today. I requested Josh Groban songbook for his first CD too but the library lost their copy . I'm really upset b/c I requested it before but I didn't have time to actually play the music and now I do but they don't have it .
Your library has songbooks? Oh, what I miss by living in a rural area.
