Ali, is there any specific reason you don't want to join your worship team, or do you just not want to? And why would you join if you don't want to?

I just learned to play the piano a had my first piano recital a couple of days ago, in front of my homeschool co-op. And then I did a choir peice with some friends. It was awesome. I've always really wanted to play the drums.

Yay! now playing Cello!! woop woop! my violin lesson has now been split into half and i half of my lesson in violin and half in cello. lol a bit confusing but great fun!

that acutally reminds me... so nervous so excited.. going to be singing a item at your Youth group soon. YAY! haha going from singing for one to singing for 40. lol A friend is going to play piano and she has some lyrics she wants to put to music so were going to do that.

First worship team practice is tonight. I'm so excited!!! But I'm trying to act cool and collected and like it's not a big deal but inside I'm FREAKING OUT. That's the closest smiley to what I'm doing inside. I'll tell you guys how it went when I get back.

I can't really play the music they want me to play. We do hymns at our church and if I joined I couldn't just do my own thing with chords, I would have to use the sheet music for each song. I would join b/c they kinda need a pianist.

GtG: My youth group team has songs that I can't play because of their key. My youth leader isn't very sympathetic. ("So now you have a chance to get better" "But I only know one of the four chords!" "So learn the other three" "I don't have a chord book" "You'll figure something out. You always do")

Seriously, he said that? I have a chord book of my Dad's that I could loan you.

Well anyway, like winterlife, that same song had chords in it that I didn't know but I found some sheets in an old theory book that had all the major and minor chords listed so I'm working on memorizing the ones I don't know. The worship practice went well and tonight is youth group!

I actually have a chord book (with piano chords in it, too), I just didn't have it with me. And yeah, he really said that. He laughed when he said that too.
To avoid confusing people, I'll tell you that our group has two leaders. We have a youth events coordinator, and we have a worship leader. After our events coordinator was so sympathetic, the worship leader came up and said, "Wait, you can only play one of these chords?" I told him yes, and he kind of paused and said, "oh." Then our events coordinator cut in and said, "Oh, give her enough time and she'll figure it out." I did figure it out, but I can't play it more than once a day because it's mostly bar chords and my hands/wrists are still recovering.

Piano recital is in four days and I am so not ready. I need to practice more.

My piano teacher said she wants me to focus more on sight reading rather than on chords and ear playing so she told me to buy a songbook. I bought Leeland's "Sound of Melodies" songbook. Hopefully I'll like it!

^Heh,I've actually been trying to firgure out "Tears of the Saints" by ear,lol. Well,not lately since my piano still hasn't been tuned. I've been putting off ear-work lately because of it.

So,I didn't realize Kat had sheet music for Bella's Lullaby until Monday. I've been working like crazy on it because I want to replace one of the songs I'm playing for the Guild in a few weeks. I don't know if I'll be able to memorize it in time,but I want to at least play it for my recital. And if I do it for the Guild,I'd also have to memorize a new set of scales and chords...*sigh*

I got the highest grade in my music class today (Which is amaizing because I have been going only half of the year)

Whoa, I haven't been in here for awhile. I've been coming on late and limiting my time.
I'm sad. Youth worship team is over for the year. But I intend to get so much better over the summer that I surprise everyone.
