Recording started today. I got a taste of what my teacher calls, "normal studio life": she couldn't get her synthesizer to accept input. (We are using a synthesizer for bass and strings because I don't know anyone who can play either well enough to record. We got drum tracks off a softwear program she has because her studio wouldn't fit a drum set.) She has to go out of town soon, so we can't record any guitar or vocals until April.
I'm so excited! I can't wait to record guitar, but at the same time, I'm not sure if I'm good enough to do it well. I can get the electric guitar down, no problem (electric guitar is easier on the hands, and I'll just be picking chords), but I'm nervous about the acoustic guitar. I tried playing it today, and since the song is in F major, it's very difficult to play. Right now, I can't get through the whole song without hurting my hand. :(
Oh, well, I have almost a month to practice (minus the time I won't be able to play on vacation, but I might be able to take my electric with me; it'd keep my hand in better shape than not playing at all). I should be able to get it down. :)

I can't play guitar very much or very well. Both of my arms were stressed too much playing for a youth event, so now I can't fully participate in our first real concert. :( The bright side is our leader is building confidence. He told me, "Today is the first day I realized we can actually do this without you." Some people might be offended by that, but since I saw him look scared (and remember, he's a guy) when I told him I might not be able to play, I know he was just letting me know that he was okay with me not being able to play.

^Aw,I'm sorry,winterlife. :(
That's sounds awesome about the studio though! :D

I used to be scared of this thread, and I did gather enough courage to post in it once, but I deleted the post shortly after. I can be so self-concious sometimes. ;))
But anyways...

How long have you been playing? Piano for six years. Two when I was younger, and four consecutive. I also sing, but I can't tell you how long I've been doing that. ;))

Have you performed in public? I'm the Sunday night pianist at my church.

Are there instruments you don't play that you would like to learn? Guitar,violin...there was another, but I can't remember. :P Ah,yes! The cello!

What type of music do you prefer to play? Almost all types. I like a variety of music.

Do you write music or lyrics of your own? Well,it's nothing special, but I play around sometimes, and I'll find this really neat melody. I write lyrics seperately, but haven't started putting tunes to my lyrics or lyrics to my tunes. ;))

Lark: I can't tell what keys things are in, either. I cantell the difference between a major key and a minor key, but that's it. ;))

1. How long have you been playing?
Uh.. well, I took piano lessons for about five years, but quit when I started school this year. I've played the violin for about seven-ish years.

2. Have you performed in public?
Oh, yes. Definitely. Recitals, concerts... you name it. I'm not particularly crazy about being up front, but... well, I'm getting better. :p

3. Are there instruments you don't play that you would like to learn?
Yup. I've always loved the flute, and I think the cello's a beautiful instrument as well. I just don't have the time to practice hours on multiple instruments. :p

4. What type of music do you prefer to play?
Well... mostly classical on the violin. Obviously. I mean, I like other stuff as well, but that's what I learn for my lesson, so that's what I play. I also like playing along with my school praise band for worship.

5. Do you write music or lyrics of your own?
I've written tons and tons of lyrics, but I can never think up the right tune for them. Once-in-awhile I'll write a just a solo piece for the piano or violin, but usually with no words.

KATIE!!! YOU DIDN'T TELL ME ABOUT THE RECORDING!!!!!!

Anyway, I will be playing piano for church next Sunday (25th). I've started playing whenever my mom's out of town (she's the regular pianist). In late February, my mom left on vacation a week before my family did so she could do a sewing class and I had like three days notice that I would be playing for church. I have this hymn book with super duper simplified hymns so I played some out of those because I had no time to practice.

This time I had almost two weeks notice so I have time to practice some of the songs out of the regular church hymn book. I borrowed (*cough* stole *cough*) one of our hymnals and I'm turning it into a fake book by scribbling the chords in over the melody line and I can play all the songs in the hymn book! If I didn't do that, I could still play them, but it'd take some practicing to get them good. Anyway, I'm looking forward to playing again and my mom said she's going to have me play sometime when she's here so she can here me play.

there's an event at the Radisson Hotel near me that is called "The Chocolate Lovers Festival" and it is what it's called: chocolate everywhere!
but they always need music entertainment and my dad has, for the past few years of it, done the music! last year, my sister and I got to sing a couple songs together at the event. this year, we are going to do it too! yay!

I'm lucky to still be alive. Julie caught up with me for not telling her about the recording. (And once again, sorry, I thought I'd told you.)
I can't wait to get back to playing for youth group. I really miss it.
