Well I've been hunting in the lagoon, and I believe I have stumbled across a good method for farming splintered wood. Using swiss with the explosive base and mutated venus mouse trap has earned me a ton of Treant Mice and almost everyone of them dropped some. I'll be switching to Gnarled cheese soon, hopefully this time I'll catch something with it.

EDIT! I caught a Centaur Mouse finally. You know what MH needs? A Wolf Mouse- that would make my day.

Edit 2- one minute later!

Just caught a Water Nymph as well... I love getting new species :D

Wolf you taught me something new. I had no idea you could even catch anything in the Lagoon using Swiss let alone something useful. That's cool. :)
Congrats on your new mice. ;)

Well, I am officially less than 1% away from away from Countess. ARRGGG! So close and yet so far away!! ;)) I'm hoping to get there tomorrow but I guess that depends on how I do catching mice. :) If not, I'll definitely make it there Thursday.

Yeah I didn't think I would at first either, but I was really low on gold, especially after a bad encounter with a goblin so I switched to give it a try and here are all of my entries for that timeframe:

10:30 am - Lagoon
I checked my trap and found that I had caught a mouse! I caught a 7 oz. Treant Mouse worth 1,300 points and 600 gold.
The mouse also dropped the following loot:
11 Splintered Wood

11:02 am - Lagoon
I sounded the Hunter's Horn and was successful in the hunt! I caught a 8 oz. Wicked Witch of Whisker Woods Mouse worth 400 points and 2,700 gold.

11:18 am - Lagoon
I sounded the Hunter's Horn and was successful in the hunt! I caught a 8 oz. Treant Mouse worth 1,300 points and 600 gold.
The mouse also dropped the following loot:
3 Splintered Wood

11:30 am - Lagoon
I checked my trap and found that I had caught a mouse! I caught a 8 oz. Treant Mouse worth 1,300 points and 600 gold.
The mouse also dropped the following loot:
9 Splintered Wood

11:55 am - Lagoon
I sounded the Hunter's Horn and was successful in the hunt! I caught a 2 oz. Treant Mouse worth 1,300 points and 600 gold.
The mouse also dropped the following loot:
8 Splintered Wood

12:22 pm - Lagoon
I sounded the Hunter's Horn and was successful in the hunt! I caught a 5 oz. Treant Mouse worth 1,300 points and 600 gold.
The mouse also dropped the following loot:
5 Splintered Wood

12:30 pm - Lagoon
I checked my trap and found that I had caught a mouse! I caught a 2 oz. Wicked Witch of Whisker Woods Mouse worth 400 points and 2,700 gold.

12:38 pm - Lagoon
I sounded the Hunter's Horn and was successful in the hunt! I caught a 1 oz. Treant Mouse worth 1,300 points and 600 gold.
The mouse also dropped the following loot:
7 Splintered Wood

12:56 pm - Lagoon
I sounded the Hunter's Horn and was successful in the hunt! I caught a 2 oz. Treant Mouse worth 1,300 points and 600 gold.
The mouse also dropped the following loot:
8 Splintered Wood

1:16 pm - Lagoon
I sounded the Hunter's Horn and was successful in the hunt! I caught a 2 oz. Wicked Witch of Whisker Woods Mouse worth 400 points and 2,700 gold.

1:30 pm - Lagoon
I returned to check my trap, but it appeared my Swiss Cheese had failed to attract a mouse. I replaced my bait since it seemed to be stale.

1:34 pm - Lagoon
I sounded the Hunter's Horn, but my Swiss Cheese failed to attract a mouse. I replaced my bait since it seemed to be stale.

Then I ran out of swiss.

As you can see I only caught the Treant and the Wicked Witch of Whisker Woods, but only two attempts failed overall... and both of those mice earn a profit with swiss. And added to what I had before, I now have over 120 peices of splintered wood :)

Well, since I last appeared 10 or so pages ago, I managed to motor through Nerg, which, I must say, for Chloë's info, is VERY easy with Rewers and the Candy Cane base, and I reached Knight level. I also crafted the Double Diamond Adventure, which, paired with the candy cane base, is doing very well on the Elub Shore. As soon as I finish this round of gouda, I'll move on to the Shell cheese, and see how that goes. After I finish up in Elub, I'll see how the Christmas Cracker Trap does there. At some point, I may doe a comparison between the DDA and the Toboggan, and post it here, if it will be of any use to anyone.

Congrats to everyone on their successes!!!

Hmmm... now I'm actually rather eager to try farmming splintered wood this again... I want to see a) if the results are replicable at all and b) if it'll work with the dehydration and/or marble cheese...

Congrats Lady A on knighthood!

Edit!

I forgot I had questions:

-Is there any specific kind of cheese that should be used in the Training Grounds?
-Where (besides the lagoon) do I use wicked gnarly?

*just became a Hero* :D/ And I'm still in the Catacombs gathering scrap metal for my ship. I'm loving ACRONYM, but those Scavenger Mice are still dropping coal instead of metal. [-x

No, there's no specific cheese for the Training Grounds. I used Brie and did fairly well (although I didn't catch all of the mice).
I think wicked gnarly is only used in the Lagoon.

and I reached Knight level. !

Congrats to all who have leveled up!

I'm making another go round of the Tribal Isles. I'm stockpiling stashes of stuff for tournament purposes. Not a lot, just a start. I've been having a rather good run in the Dunes. I'd venture a guess that I'm running at least a 60% catch rate if not more. I'm running the Chillbot+spellbook right now. I don't expect it to last as I have also had times in here where I go 12 hrs without catching more than one or two mice. The drop late's a tad low though. It usually takes me an absolute minimum of 48 - 72 hrs to pick up 30 stones. I think I may try equipping a luck charm to see if that influences anything.

Edit: Ah... luck charm's already equipped. lol. Forgot I did that.

Well I just caught the Tiger and the Nomad...and I ran out of gnarled cheese and brie... so I decided to try farming splintered wood again before I left to get more...

I had a decent run in Balack's Cove today, and managed to catch all but four of the mice in there (Still need a riptide, Nerg Lich, Elub Lich, and Balack Himself). I'll probably head back in there tomorrow, but I'm spending the night in the catacombs to get a bit of gold back. After all of these recent purchases, I'm sitting at 52K gold. Hopefully I can get that up to 90K by morning.

I hate buying coconut milk ;)).

Oooh, another story? I can't wait! :D

...and I reached Knight level.

Well congratulations. :D

*just became a Hero*

Congratulations to you too! :D

I'm loving ACRONYM, but those Scavenger Mice are still dropping coal instead of metal.

Well, you max out at 50 coal, so eventually they'll have to stop dropping it. ;) ;))

I'm stockpiling stashes of stuff for tournament purposes. Not a lot, just a start.

😀

I'm running the Chillbot+spellbook right now.

I'm not 100% sure on this, but you may do even better with the good ol' Magma Base that you're probably sick of using. ;))

Well I just caught the Tiger and the Nomad...

I have to offer you a special congrats on the Tiger mouse. They've made that mouse a good deal harder to catch than he used to be.

@DiGs, you probably already knew this, but just to make sure you did, the Riptide Mouse is the one that ports you out of the Cove at mid and high tide. If you want to catch one, just stick around and you'll be guaranteed to do so. He's just like the Realm Ripper.

I hate buying coconut milk .

Yep, me too, that's why I would buy between 200-300 at a time. ;))

Well, yesterday, I had the best Tower run I have ever had. I would have run the Gauntlet (meaning you catch both chess teams in one run which is nearly impossible to do) except I wasn't thinking and I equipped Checkmate cheese to give me a higher attraction on that second Queen.... I completely forgot about the Chess Master who I then caught and got ported out of the Tower. ;)) But my ultimate goal was successful.... I went to bed at 99.98% and this morning I hit Countess. Yay!! :D I'm extra ready for that Baron area!!!

*high five* That's awesome FK! Congratulations!

Yes, I knew about the riptide mouse. I'm being really careful because I don't want to get transported to the JoD with my vanilla stilton equipped, lest it fall prety to pygmy mice.

Am I doing something wrong, because so far I've only caught one of the three lich mice in this area. I desperately need to get more of these guys, as I want more vengeful vanilla stilton. Is there any way of attracting more of them?

An option for you to consider DiGs.... you can always disarm your cheese and leave it unequipped while you're afk. My sister would do that when she was hunting in Balack's Cove. It kept her from getting ported out and saved her on traveling costs.
No, you're not doing anything wrong with the Lich mice. Think Dojo Students. You wouldn't see any of them for a long time and then all of a sudden you'd catch a bunch of them back to back. And inevitably there is one you need more of that you can't snag. Same thing here. About the only thing you can do to improve your attraction rate is IF (and only if) you're getting a lot of 'failed to attract' messages, you can equip an attraction charm.

Congratulations everyone! :) So many of you have achieved/gotten something! :D

Here's an update about how I've been doing in the Nerg Plains. :)

I've caught all the mice in the tribe, except for the Grandfather mouse. I've attempted to catch him, but he only stole my cheese. :P

I had a run with some gumbo, but it's all gone now. :P I did get 9 yellow pepper seeds, though.

Right now, I'm working on stocking up Savoury Veggies and gold (I have about 248,000). :)

That is incredibly impressive! I don't think I have ever gotten that many pepper seeds from one batch of gumbo cheese (I've gotten close to that, but never quite that many). Congratulations!

If you want a change of scenery for a while, you can always head over to Elub Shores. Your Explosive Toboggan Ride will do just fine in there, and you'll gain a TON of points. (At this point in the game, points are just as important for you as gold is).

As for the grandfather mouse, he is rather tough for an old man ;)). I think it took me three tries before I nabbed him, and another try before he dropped the thorned vine.

Hmm. Maybe I'll head there after I go to Cape Clawed for more Gouda cheese. :D
