Thank you so much Wolfy for all that wonderful advice! You too, DiGs. I understand a lot more about what charms do now, though I might hold off on buying any just yet since I seem to be doing pretty well right now even without them. :)

And...

I just caught my Cyclops Mouse! Yay! :D I used the Swiss Army trap and the Dehydration Base. Now I just need to hit the Master rank...I'm 51% through Journeyman.

I don't expect to get the Black Widow, but I'm hoping to still grab the Foxy and Cherry mice before leaving Calm Clearing.

Just so you know, Foxy Mice are apparently pretty rare there... but you can always hope ;) And Cherry Mice can only be caught with cherry cheese which is made with cherry potion (dropped by Cyclops, Cherry, and Eagle Owl mice)

Edit!
I only need about 5,000 more gold... then I'm gonna head over to the Great Gnarled Tree :)

^ Oh okay, thanks for the heads up. :) In that case...maybe I'll hold off and try to get some more points/gold instead.

I finally crafted my ship! And I've caught quite a few new mice, so for those of you who are friends with me on Facebook, gather your luck charms!

:D ;))

I just caught my Cyclops Mouse! Yay!

Congrats Silver! :D

I only need about 5,000 more gold... then I'm gonna head over to the Great Gnarled Tree

So, so close! :D Well congrats ahead of time. Do you have any Radioactive Sludge yet?

Oh okay, thanks for the heads up.

Doh! I had posted that yesterday, and then after I hit post, I saw DiGs had beat me so I deleted my post and reposted, but left out some info that hadn't been answered apparently. LOL Ah well, at least wolf is on top of things. ;)

So I finished up my potion compiling run late last night. I was kind of surprised at how long it took, though it would have gone a lot faster if I had been by myself instead of tag teaming with my husband. ;)) At any rate, it was fun and nice to see some old mice that I never see anymore. Now I'm back in the Seasonal Garden and up to 97.34% of the way to Countess. ;))

Finally got the Venus Mouse Trap! Of course now I only have 728 gold :P I will likely hit the Laboratory before I hit the Training Grounds anyways as I need more Radioactive Blue Potions before I can farm anymore Radioactive Sludge. (@FK I have 5 radioactive sludge) Before I do any of that however... I am not leaving again until I have the Lagoon map!

EDIT!!!

5:30 pm - Great Gnarled Tree
I checked my trap and found that I had caught a mouse! I caught a 1 oz. Foxy Mouse worth 1,650 points and 1,500 gold.

The mouse also dropped the following loot:
1 Swiss Cheese

6:26 pm - Great Gnarled Tree
I sounded the Hunter's Horn and was successful in the hunt! I caught a 3 oz. Fairy Mouse worth 5,775 points and 930 gold.

The mouse also dropped the following loot:
1 Map of the Lagoon

HAZAHHH!!!!! 2 new species in a row!!!

I'm thinking I'll stick here for the night then maybe hit the lagoon or the training grounds tommorrow.

I know it's been said in here before, that a good strategy for farming radioactive slude, is equipping a stale trap setup (which for you would probably consist of the sinister portal and the explosive base), and parking yourself in someplace like whisker woods. Nobody will be attracted to the radioactive bleu cheese, which should cause it to go stale pretty quickly.

I definitely wouldn't attempt the furoma mice until you at least had the Mutate Venus Mouse Trap. I suppose it could be done, but furoma is a big enough headache, without having to worry about a sub-par catch rate. You should be able to do decently in the training grounds, but the mice there aren't worth very much money, and the only real reason to hang around there (apart from a few new mice) is to shop in the general store.

Congratulation to everybody on their recent milestones! The cyclops mouse, the crafting of the ship, the purchase of the Venus Mouse Trap: All of these are big milestones in the game! Congra Rats to you all!

As for me, I'm farming gold/scrap metal in the catacombs right now. Once I get all of the gold necessary to craft my Molten Shrapnel Base (another 200K to go!!!), I'll probably head back to the tribal isles, go after another dragon, and then head in to the dreaded Balack's Cove :-s

Thanks for that piece of advice Digs :)

I'm seeing a big difference here, with both the tactical trap and my use of Gnarly potions. I just got the Curious Chemist mouse too :)

I'm not sure how much radioactive blue potions I have left, but I'll probably end up trying to farm some sludge with the rest before I leave for the lagoon. But for now, I'm content with this settup.

Well congratulations Wolf. :D Though I did laugh because poor qwertykate has been stuck in the Great Gnarled Tree for three or so days now trying to get that Fairy Mouse with no luck at all, and you snagged it in the first few hours you were there. ;)

You are more than welcome to completely ignore this advice, but the Lagoon Mice are tricky enough that you might want to consider waiting till you get the Ambush Trap from the Furoma area before attempting it... but that's entirely up to you. :)

How's the scrap metal total coming along?

I'm up to 193. I took a break to spend the weekend hunting in Nerg (just because I could :P ). So seven more to go, and just over 200K more gold needed. If all goes as it should, I should be able to craft the MSB sometime on Tuesday or Wednesday.

I figured I'd go back through and answer some of the questions Digs asked in the first post...

What's your current trap setup? Venus Mouse Trap ( B-) ), Explosive base, Gnarly Cheese, and no charms
Where are you hunting? The Great Gnarled Tree
What mice are you having trouble catching? Umm... at the moment, the Centaur and the Tiger
What's your favourite mouse? If I had to pick just one... I'd go with Mutated Grey (Others include Bionic, Silvertial, Glitchpaw, Tiger, Centaur, and the Costumed Rabbit

Cheese? Ummmmm........... I have lot: SuperBrie, Radioactive Blue, Rockforth, Marble
Location? Mountain, Laboratory or Mouseleum
What makes this game so addicting for you? It's easy to play, it involves a ton of strategy, a bunch of the NarniaWebbers play it ( :P ) and theres always something new that I'm trying to unlock or get

@FK, well yes and no... that was my first try with a tactical trap... I had been there twice before trying to catch her and both of those attempts ended in a massive failure and loss in gold... so I moved to the lab, then Digby and the Mouseleum :P

I remember now why I had so few problems with my stay in Whisker Wood: I had the Christmas Cracker Trap. It's a physical trap with an INSANE amount of luck. Using it, I was able to catch all of the mice in there no-problemo. Just be patient, and it will happen for you guys ;).

Oh sorry... the well yes and no comment was at Fk's comment that I was luckier than quertykate. Not regarding her advice. Unless you didn't think that.... :- Now I'm just confusing myself :P

Anyway I'm up to 15,000 gold :)

What?! I was confused?! That NEVER happens ;)) :-o.

I've actually had a really good catch rate in the catacombs since I headed back over there (I mean, I usually do, but I've done really well gold-wise too). I'm almost up to 600 thousand gold, and should be there by noonish. If I'm lucky (and I mean LUCKY as I still need 7 scrap metal too!) I might get my MSB today!!! At any rate, it should be soon!

I'm gonna do the questionnaire thing too, since I never did. :P

What's your current trap setup? Explosive Toboggan Ride, Candy Cane Base, and Brie cheese.
Where are you hunting? S.S. Huntington II.
What mice are you having trouble catching? I'm not necessarily having trouble, but I need to catch these on the ship: Captain, Cook, Squeaken, and Swabbie.
What's your favourite mouse? Hmm. Good question. Lemme see...I like the Nugget Mouse. :D

Cheese? Favorite cheese...Either Cherry or Radioactive Blue. :P
Location? Catacombs. :D
What makes this game so addicting for you? There's always something new to discover and I don't have to sit on my computer all day to play it. :P I just have to pop back in every 15 minutes or so. Hehe. :D

I need one more piece for the Ocean Navigation Kit! Where is the Captain with my telescope!? :P As for gold...I'm slowly going up.

Once I get the telescope...should I go back to the Catacombs to farm gold or should I head to Cape Clawed? I have about 100,000 gold right now.
