well FB appears to be up and running now (watch and it'll fail again) but clearing my browsing history appears to have logged me out of everything and it appears to keep logging me out... well at least I'll remember all my passwords :|

... oh wait a minute... I think I know what I did

This is why I am not a comp sci major ;))

Congrats on the Dehydration Base Silver! I remember using that base for forever. It's great if you don't want your cheese to go stale.
And congrats on the Eagle Owl Mouse as well! That one is pretty rare in the Calm Clearing. Did he drop a Cherry Potion? Also have you snagged the Cyclops Mouse yet?

Thank you! :D Yes, I did get a Cherry Potion from him! I see that it makes cherry cheese? Unfortunately I haven't gotten the Cyclops Mouse yet, but I'm working on that right now. Out of the Calm Clearing mice, I still need the Foxy, Cherry, Cyclops, and Black Widow mice. Are any of those only attracted to SB+?

That's awesome Silver!!! It took me a while to get the Eagle Owl, so congrats I highly recommend the Mountain (although if you haven't yet, you may want to try to get the Cyclops mouse first as he'll drop the Great Gnarled Tree Map) You may want to test your luck with Prospector's Charms. If you do I recommend only replenishing your supply each time you catch a Gold, Diamond, or Silvertail (if you are using Superbrie) ie. one charm per mouse caught. (Although you can extend this to roughly any mouse worth 500 + in gold but you'll make more of a profit I think if you go easy on the charms.) If you don't use any thats fine too I noticed a difference when I used charms, but I never stuck around long enough or had the patience to calculate just what that difference was...

Thanks! :D I took your advice and stayed in Calm Clearing to get the Cyclops Mouse. Do charms increase your luck? I've never used one before...wasn't sure if buying one was worth the price tag. So you're saying that I should put a charm on my trap every time I catch a mouse worth more than 500 gold? Should I only use charms in places where I would make a profit from every mouse available in that area? Sorry, I'm still a bit confused about what charms do.

No huge catches lately, although I did earn a couple of Bronze King's Crowns for some of the Calm Clearing mice.

Silver the Wanderer, Oh no worries, that's more of my fault since that was a bit of a wordy explanation, let me try this:

-to get the cyclops mouse:
When I was at your level I got mine with a prospectors charm, but if I were you I would ask some of the more experienced members than me since they seem to know more about how it works. If you look back a few pages I asked how to get a cyclops, and using one of FK's suggestions got me my first one. This depends a lot on what traps and bases you are using. So what traps and bases do you have? That will help us help you

-hunting in the mountain:
Your kind of correct, I'm talking about buying charms though not arming them. When I was hunting in the mountain I started by buying about 5 to 10 prospectors charms, then armed those (with swiss or brie). (Using prospector's charms in the mountain increases the chances that you will attract gold and diamond mice, wich are both worth a lot of gold and points. If you use the prospectors charm with superbrie you will also increase the chances of catching a Silvertail mouse, which is a superbrie only breed. But unless you have a ton of superbrie I wouldn't worry about that yet.) So what I did there was I kept track of how many gold, diamond, and other mice that were worth 500+ gold that I caught. When I ran out of prospectors charms I would only by one charm for each of those high gold mice. This helped ensure I would make a profit since charms can be expensive.
I'm saying you may want to try this method, but I'm not saying you should. I personally haven't tested the mountain without charms for very long, but people here seem to agree that it brings in a good deal of gold anyway. I would recommend you maybe try a day or two with the above strategy and a day or two without charms and see which one earns you more gold
One last thing about the mountain I forgot to mention. The Ninja Mouse drops a map there, but he's pretty easy to catch...though you may want to start without using charms because of this.

Using charms in general:
This is basically a game of cost vs reward. When you first go to the mountain, before you use charms you will need to by a charm conduit to upgrade your trap so you can use charms. I'd say definitely do this. Other than that, they definitely have an effect, but they are an expensive venture. Since your early on in the game, I'm gonna offer you some similar advice as what I was given a few pages ago. Only use them if you're going after specific mice or in the mountain during your early levels. When you level up and stockpile enough gold, then you can use them more freely.

Edit: Oi that looks even wordier than my last one. I hope it made sense :-s If not feel free to ask questions...

Edit 2!

Fk's response to me in this thread, Silver, was regarding which trap setup to use for catching the cyclops mouse. I believe it was the first one that worked for me, though I remember catching him on both. Again this maybe different for you depending on what traps you have.

This is why I am not a comp sci major

Computers seem to hate zoology majours ;))

Nope, all of those will be attracted to Brie or Swiss. The Black Widow is going to be difficult for you this early in the game. I just caught my first one a few weeks ago, but she can be attracted to regular cheeses. I just wouldn't peg my hopes on your catching her ;)

As far as the cyclops goes, he's not incredibly difficult to catch, he's just a little more rare than other mice. Just use a decent tactical trap (perhaps consider purchasing the Venus Mouse Trap if you haven't done so already?) or your best physical trap, paired with your best base, and be patient. You'll catch him in time. Promise ;)

There are charms that increase your luck, but these come at a rather hefty price tag (400 each!). FK, Kat, and I all made our way through the lower levels of the game without using charms. I wouldn't advise you to purchase a whole lot of them as they're not going to change much for you at this point. If your heart is set on using charms, I would go with power charms. They're cheaper, and they can provide a decent boost if used correctly, but at this point, I wouldn't waste your money on charms.

@wolf and DiGs, they did another patch and it looks like it's working again. Are you still having issues?

The tactical trap isn't an option for her DiGs, as tactical traps aren't available until after the Cyclops Mouse is snagged. :)

Silver, if I recall correctly, you have the Swiss Army Mouse Trap as well as the Explosive Base and Dehydration Base? That trap will work just fine and you can switch out your bases to see which one you like better. :) And Swiss or Brie cheese.

*head-desk* Er. . . .yeah, I knew that :P

How 'bout you Digs?

Well I've come home from Uni for the weekend, and we have an ancient dial-up here. It's worked here so far, but I can't be certain that it's working on my wireless internet down in my dorm. Chances are that it is ;)

I hit 1,000,000 Points!!!

WOO-HOO!!! Congratulations!

I'm one savoury vegetable away from another batch of gumbo cheese, which will hopefully yield enough yellow pepper seeds for me to make a decent amount of inferno havarti. After I get all of my peppers, I think I'm going to head back to the catacombs to farm gold, make my molten shrapnel base, and then go after another dragon. (I want the heat bath blueprints!!!)

I had a ridiculously good Zugzwang's Tower run yesterday. I was so excited. It got me up to 97%.

Today my husband and I decided to do something fun. We're gonna restock potions (I think I mentioned last page I was thinking about that). We're starting out in the King's Gauntlet and we're gonna nab two Tier 2 potions there. Then we're gonna hit the Great Gnarled Tree and we're not leaving until we have two Gnarled Potions and two Wicked Gnarly Potions. And we'll wrap things up in the Laboratory with two Radioactive Blue Potions.

And then we'll head back to our respective hunting locations. ;)) I'll be curious to see how this goes. I often have a world of trouble catching Curious Chemist Mice for their Wicked Gnarly Potions. Dunno why... I just do.

Bet Rewers makes a difference for you fantasia!

I've now got a small stockpile of inferno havarti. I think I'm going to make the rounds in Nerg, Elub, and Derr to gather the stuff for the more advanced cheeses for those sections. It'll give me places to hunt for times when I'm gone from the computer for awhile and I'll start getting to where I can have a stash of havarti again for the Jungle.

My catch rate went back to normal after I posted the stats previously. ;)) That was wild though seeing so many mice. I did send in a note to the Devs to let them know though just in case it was a glitch.

@Kat, Actually Rewers doesn't do much there. The Spellbook Base sure does though. ;))
Zugzwang's Tower is the one place in the game where Power is far superior to Luck because the amplifier doesn't affect luck until you're below 100%, but it boosts your power in a big way. So ZFM/Spellbook/Attraction Charms/Gouda cheese = pretty awesome results.

Going in with a 160% amplifier, your trap stats will look something like this....
ZFM/Spellbook
Total Trap Power - 8587
Luck - 31
Attraction - 5%

Rewers/Magma
Total Trap Power - 6302
Luck - 42
Attraction - 10%

The extra 2200 power far outweighs the 11 extra luck. ;))

@Wolf, Yay! :D

UGH... 2 mice in 90 minutes, and a Ninja stealing almost 1.5K points. Thankfully I only have a little over 8K to go until I get to 200K, then I think it will be safe to leave the Mountain. I may just stick around until the Birthday event though.... I checked my stats and I have to go back to the Lab to get the Black Widow. So I'll go there soon, I guess. :p

I finally crafted my ship! :) And I've caught quite a few new mice, so for those of you who are friends with me on Facebook, gather your luck charms! :P

I also caught a Bottled Mouse and he dropped the compass, so I have 1/3 of what I need for the Ocean Navigation Kit. :D
