OK, then here's another question. Catching a king with Checkmate cheese does not expel you from the tower, correct? So is it possible to get two kings (and hence two dropped pages) by using checkmate cheese?

There is a term that's used on the MH forums called "running the gauntlet" in reference to Zugzwang's Tower. All it means is that you complete both sides of the Chess set in one run. I've never successfully done it (I was extremely close and then I messed it up ) but my husband has.
If you are having a nearly perfect run, catch your Queen, arm your Checkmate Cheese, catch your King, and then switch back to Gouda. Once you complete one side of the Tower, the mice on that side become so rare that they may as well be eliminated.
Now, as a cautionary warning when I did my ZT gauntlet attempt, I made the mistake of arming Checkmate Cheese when I went to catch my second King mouse (Kings have a higher attraction to Checkmate, which was why I armed it) but I forgot that my Chess Master mouse had already been unlocked. So I caught him instead of my second King and got ported out of the tower. Ah well.
/ends a long rambling post where a simple 'yes and yes' would do.
Um. . . yeah. . . more or less this thread could be summed up as follows:
DiGs gives advice
FK corrects DiGs' heavily flawed advice
DiGs retreats into a corner to twiddle his thumbs
And wolf decides to side halfway with Digs. I made a half a run last Easter to get the Tier 4 egg. If you've completed everything else you need too, then I say go ahead and hit Tier 1, maybe Tier 2 (when you can of course) I was so glad I got almost half my run done... it might take longer, but I think it's rather fun. And it's good boredom relief. Though I wouldn't get it at initiate, unless you're loaded with gold. I think I bought my blueprints right around Master, maybe earlier. Basically there's bonuses and drawbacks, but I lean more toward making the early partial-runs.
Speaking of which... Now that I'm back I'm heading strait to Tier 2 with 20 pieces of cheese

I was in the Laboratory for several days just because I really didn't know what to do. I finished repairing the Furoma map piece so now I can go to Dojo, Meditation Room, and Pinnacle Chamber in addition to the Training Grounds. However, I need to get a tacticle trap and today was the first day that I actually had time to research on hitgrab and the forums which tactical trap would be best. For the past several days, I've been super busy and whole days have gone by where I haven't been on mousehunt even for just five seconds to sound the horn.
Also, I'm almost at 2 million points. I didn't even notice points until this morning and I was like "Wow, how did I get this many?"
Anyway, all of the tactical traps seem to be pretty expenseve and I only have 209,240 gold. So, since I was in the Laboratory and built up my stock of Radioactive Blue Potions, I moved to the Mousoleum this morning because I get gold faster here than anywhere else. I don't know how long I'll stay here; until I build up some gold at least.
I decided to take the plunge today and buy the Oasis Bead off the Marketplace. It hurt my pride to do so because I was stubbornly hoping to get all three pieces to drop. But the devs dropped a pretty clear hint on Facebook that something new is coming soon and I'm assuming it's the Library. I wanted to be prepared!
That gives me all of the three uber traps so unless I hear something else soon, I'll keep working towards the Papyrus Base and probably the Cackle Lantern Trap as well.

But even you didn't go there until you were a couple levels higher than Initiate. That's all I'm saying. It's definitely something good to do if you're bored with your current area.

I believe the only two you can buy right now is the Venus Mouse Trap and Zugzwang's Last Move. You'll need both eventually, but provided you have 20 radioactive sludge, the Venus Mouse Trap is the way to go. You can immediately upgrade to the Mutated Venus Mouse Trap which is better than Zugzwang's, and it's cheaper.
Just an update from the newbie...
I'm still an Apprentice (duh) but at 44%!!
I'm at 39,000 points, trying to get to 45,500 for the Swiss army trap!
And, uh, I'll accept any mozzarella cheese that anyone wants to send!
And thanks all for the wood yesterday! (I'm assuming I'll need it since so many sent it to me!
And to FK for the candygram (that's my first collectible).
It's a good thing this game isn't addicting..................
Love God, love people

It is a good thing isn't it? ( )
I'm still stocking up potions... I have 14 Tier 3 potions currently. Though I'm on Tier 1 right now. And thanks FK for the Wicked Gnarly potion... I needed that a lot.

Just remember. . . I had it first. Nah-nah-nah-nah-boo-boo
If I have a goodly amount of luck this evening, I might be able to start another tower run before bedtime. I just bought 300 gouda. . . . . ouch

I hit 40,000 points!!!!!!!!!!! Only 5,000 til Swiss Army Trap!
And I have a new FB friend too!
So, thanks digs for getting me started on MH! (And FK, too!)
Love God, love people
FK got you started. . . but I put the money where her mouth was . Perhaps she should send you your next batch of money as I just dropped nearly 200K on cheese (Although. . . we're starting to sound like Mousehunt communists sharing all the wealth around. . . )
Just 4 more percent until my amplifier is full again. I think this will be a technic run.

200K on cheese for what?! For you or Ram? (*is verily confused *)
I haven't got a Tier II potion drop all day. I switched from cheddar to Mozzerella in hopes that it might affect my drops... though I only have 5 pieces at the moment. (That's ok though... stale cheese and potions are of higher priority XD )
Edit 5 seconds later... Well I got one to drop lol.

So, the Acolyte Realm is kicking my butt and taking my gold. I don't like it. I keep attracting the Acolyte Mouse but not catching him. What am I doing wrong?
My setup:
Forgotten Box Trap
Candy Cane Base/Tiki Base (CC is luckier but TB is much stronger, so I alternate)
Runic Cheese
no charms

You could try adding a power charm or a luck charm, but other than that, you're doing nothing wrong, Stwin. You could try going for the Molten Shrapnel Base, which is both lucky and powerful, but it's also quite expensive (around 750K). I don't think it'll boost your chances that much, but you're going to need it later on any ways. . . so it's up to you.
The Acolyte is one of the top four toughest mice in the game along with the Dragon, Balack, and the Silth.
Hang in there, we've all been there. . . we all hate it.

I already bought the Venus Mouse Trap and upgraded it to the Mutated Venus Mouse Trap on your advice several pages back. (Thanks again, by the way.)
So yea, probably get Zugzwang's at some point. I know have 248,444 gold.
DiGs, can I risk entering Dracano without the Ice Maiden? That's the only way I'll be able to contemplate crafting the Molten Shrapnel Base at this point, as I have to have a Dragon Ember (according to MHWiki).
I've returned to the FG for a while. My gold suffers much less there usually and I still need a few Runes before I can craft my Ice Maiden (Not to mention the stupid Acolyte Mouse ).
