I'm at 1243 ft and 227 hunts. I'm hoping to reach somewhere between 1400 and 1500 ft before I get to 275 hunts. If more, that would be great. If not... there's always next run.
I'm currently at 1,188 feet, and hunt #236. I'd like to finish with the bombing run by 275. . . but I doubt that'll happen.

Also, I think some people have made it through in 275 hunts or fewer because I have seen spoilers as to what is inside the Treasure Chest, but how they made it that quickly I've no idea
Combination of using SB+, buying the Iceberg Invasion Kit, and not sleeping.
That'll help me when I start debating what to craft after this run.
Ditto, that's why I posted them. Right now I'm torn between the upgraded trap and the base for the Bombing Run. In the long run, it may not make much difference, but I'm trying to think what will help me get through future runs faster.
Pretty important spoiler ahead concerning the steam laser Mk II's stats. . . I'd read it even if you aren't "spoiling" yourself
Steam Laser Mk 1 with Spellbook Base
Power (including area specific boost): 7,869
Luck: 31
Attraction Bonus: 5%
Cheese Rating: Fresh
Steam Laser Mk 2 with Spellbook Base
Power (including area specific boost): 7928
Luck: 28
Attraction Bonus: 15%
Cheese Rating: Very Fresh
You're more or less going to get 59 more power and a 10% attraction bonus, but you're going to pay for it with 3 luck. I do not consider this to be a fair trade. . . not in the least.
And apparently:
Speculation to follow . I'm guessing that Icewing will only be able to be caught with the Steam Laser Mk. III (no stats on that one yet). So your final run through this area will be have to done with a different hydro trap (unless you buy another steam laster Mk. I). This may be why they told people to get the OWN if possible.
EDIT: Oh and by my calculuations:
There MUST be a better way of getting drills, because they might as well have not even introduced them at this point.

Posting personal progress. Made it to the Mad Depths finally. Should be interesting to see how this goes.
1600 ft - 288 hunts
So is anyone avoiding spoilers besides me? *doesn't think anyone is*
1,393 feet, Hunt #256
DiGs,
I agree that it's cruel to make us go through two upgrades and three runs to get the boss mouse. Unlike other areas where those steps might be necessary based on your luck, here it is required.
As far as Drill Charges go, the Frostlance Commander in the Lair drops one. However, I won't be fooling with the Drill Charges until I've amassed enough Cold Fusion to get my trap/base upgrades. There also seem to be several Drill upgrades, including a Diamond one with loot from the Treasure Chest.
Fantasia, I eat spoilers for breakfast.

I'm up to 1370 ft and 247 hunts. I pretty much doubt I'll make it to the first chest. For those who have gotten farther, you can still keep going past the first chest? Just checking.
DiGs, regarding your trap stats spoilers:

According to that guide Digs posted the other day
I used the rest of my drill charges 381ft- hunt 84

In the Mad Depths. 1696 feet, Hunt # 313. The second chest is going to be a close call if I get it.
Definitely crafting the Magnet Base first. It will be most useful in speeding up future runs, from what I can tell. Then Mk. II (for story advancement) and then the Remote Detonator Base. After that, no idea. That will take me at least two runs to acquire the BCF for anyway.
Congrats to the Slushy team who placed 3rd tonight!

I'm debating between crafting the magnet base first or the spiked base... I'm leaning toward the latter because the tunnel rats don't push you backwards when you catch them...

Arg. So I finally plunked down the gold for my VMT today, since I wasn't too far away points-wise from when I could equip it. I meant to upgrade it to the MVMT right away, not realizing that the point requirement for THAT is much higher. So now I spent all my gold on a trap I can't use for a few days at least, and then I won't be able to *really* use it for awhile since the points I need for the MVMT is nearly double what I have, lol.
Not to mention, I've got two other traps I have my eyes on. I assume I'm going to need one of the Portals (I'm thinking Sinister) in order to hunt in the Mausoleum, and the DDB is the next logical power trap upgrade. I'm REALLY wishing now that I had bought my Portal first today so I could at least use it while I wait for my gold and points to recoup for the VMT. Oh well.
Guess I'm heading back to the Laboratory so I can at least be collecting potions while I wait, and I'll buy the Sinister Portal next, I guess. Bah and humbug!
I'm on hunt#107 at 499ft...yes, I know I'm behind progress, but those brute mice...and those Mammoths, don't get me started on those Mammoths...
Congrats on those who are almost passed through with the Iceburg...I really wish I could I'm almost there, but in truth, I'm not even close
My setup is MK1, DBB, Brie, Wax...I heard this is the most effective, but I could be wrong, it seems that Brie attracts less brutes well SB attracts more brutes, I really don't know
Just wrapped up my first Iceburg run. I think it went pretty well. I completed it with seven hunts to go til my second chest was crushed. I was kind of surprised that the contents of the second chest weren't THAT MUCH better than the Supply Chest. Really the only thing that was nice was the one more cold fusion.
I ended up with 6 cold fusion total and after much debating, I decided to craft the Magnet and Remote Detonator Bases. Hopefully that was the right call. The trap will definitely be next, and then we'll see after that. I assume the other two bases, but I guess it will depend on that third trap when the recipe is discovered.
So onto Run #2, got my Magnet Base armed. Should be interesting to see how this does with the bonus attraction with those Tunneler Mice.
Also took a break from the Iceburg yesterday to do a Slushy tournament with Kat, RaMa, and Lady Arwen. We took 3rd place! So I added another shiny trophy to my collection which was pretty cool. The only two collectibles I'm missing now (excluding LE collectibles) are the Silver Trophy and Z's Left Sock.
ETA 11:20am CDT: Meant to reply to this and forgot....

I would recommend skipping the DDB for now. It'll be a while before you get to a place where you'll use it.
ETA 6:14pm CDT: Got through the Tunnels in 31 hunts. Slight improvement with my Magnet Base armed as my first run took 61 hunts. Reduced by half! I'll be curious to see if the base attracts tunnelers in the Bulwark or if it really only works for the Tunnels.
I went ahead and reset my progress in the iceberg. I'm going to be offline a lot the next 4 days (probably about 90% of it at least) so I figured it was a good time to start over. I have crafted the magnet base and am using it now.
