Thanks for the input, fk.
Migrated over to JoD with the Gorgon trap after being annoyed with poor catch rates (likely normal and I was very lucky). Averaged about one catch for every five pieces of various flavors of Havarti. Can't complain. Clockapult certainly was not crucial to have, reportedly only increasing the catch ratio to about one catch for every four pieces of havarti.
Going after the Acolyte.
“Safe?” said Mr. Beaver; “don’t you hear what Mrs. Beaver tells you? Who said anything about safe? ‘Course he isn’t safe. But he’s good. He’s the King, I tell you.”
I'm guessing they mean the Heat Bath... which is a Hydro trap...
Also I thought the Devs said they weren't introducing any new traps.
I just traveled to the new area now, also I have my Bronze Base
Edit ignore the first two lines... apparently I misread something.

My guess with the charms, is that the area is going to work very similar to the warpath.
My guess is that there will be one new area released, but it will have mice in three different "waves" or "groups." Mice from each group will only be attracted when a particular charm is armed (Kind of like the archers, scouts and warriors within a particular wave of the warpath).
One charm secures your trap solidly to any slippery surface, which makes me think that there will be some sort of "ice rink" type mice.
One charm acts as wax, and helps your trap glide quickly like a sled, which makes me think that there will be some sort of "icy hill" type mice.
One charm seems to attract mice that live on the shore, which makes me think that they will attract invading warrior mice.
My guess is that basic hydro traps will work for all three of these, but if there is an element beyond that, that you'll need to use this new trap in order to get it.
If it is a new trap, I think it'll be in the vein of the Ancient Box Trap, Pawn Pinchers, Ice Maiden, Zurreal's Folly, and other rarely used traps. In other words, it may be used to catch the "boss" and will work on no other mice other than the boss.

Another thing to note it appears that not all the mice from the spoilers post a few days ago have made it into the game yet... At least based off of what I can see between the images and the silhouettes.

I'm a bit confused here:
I looked at Shastastwin's profile and his journal seems to indicate that he's hardly missed a mouse at all using his DDA. I on the other hand, have been missing mice all morning long, and barely caught anything overnight, despite the fact that my trap is luckier and WAY more powerful
I guess this new area is going to hate me

(What's the DDA anyways?)
As of right now I still need both launcher parts for my heat bath... and I only have roughly 2,000 gold This is gonna take a while...
So far all I've had were FTA's and FTC's

I have struggled a bit, DiGs, especially at first. I have been doing a little bit better the last hour or two. However, I've only just looted my first War Scrap. And I have yet to catch any of the less-common mice.
Wolf, the DDA is the Double Diamond Adventure. It's an event-only trap that was an upgrade of another event-only trap from the Winter Hunt in ... 2009? 2010?

It was in 2010 (which was the best Christmas Event IMHO).
Wolf, if I were you (and this is just my opinion) I'd do my best to get the Heat Bath before coming in this new area. I think you'll get slaughtered with the Ancient Spear Gun, and the three new "rare" mice are so rare that I've only attracted 2 (and failed to catch them both) in the 16 hours I've been in here.

You're a little late Digs... But if I do poorly all day I'll hit the SG.... (I intend to finish this task at some point.)

Drat! I missed a Chipper mouse. Having very inconsistent luck in here . I've heard that the loot from the new mice isn't really anything spectacular, so once I get the three new mice, I'm heading back to the warpath. I'd like to get to our "sweet spot."

I noticed one of my non-NarniaWeb friends had snagged far more of the new mice than I had, she's one of those SB+ types, so I thought I'd go ahead and try out SB+ too. After a full page of catching the 3 less-new mice, I gave up on SB+, switched back to Gouda, and then snagged 2 new mice almost back to back. Including the Snow Slinger for the first time.
Just wanted to share SB doesn't seem to give much of an advantage this time around in case some people were thinking of using it.
After spending most of the day in the new area, I'm back on the Warpath. I bronzed the Snow Soldier and almost bronzed the Incompetent Ice Climber and Polar Bear. I never even attracted the other three mice, and looted 5 or 6 War Scraps.
I really want to finish this Warpath run so I'll be focusing on that for the foreseeable future. I'd love to finish it before this weekend, but that's not very likely at this point.

I finally caught the Polar Bear, and just got a Bronze for the Snow Soldier... I'm not doing too badly with the ASG... though I haven't attracted any of the new mice yet... But at least I'm making a profit...

Yes, you do make a decent profit in this area. Using Gouda, you'll make close to 2K for each mouse you catch (provided that you aren't using charms). Nothing to compare with the catacombs. . . but better than you get in the Garden.
I seem to be doing well in spurts. For two or three hours, I'll nab a mouse every horn sound. Then for a few more hours, I'll catch maybe one mouse per hour .
Still haven't nabbed any of the new mice even though I've attracted two snow bowlers and one chipper mouse.

I got a chipper mouse which dropped 1 war supplies which in turn had 1,000 gold and 2 King's Credits.
I'm wondering when and how the other mice will be released... I'm thinking this is the "First Wave" of mice to infultrate Gnawnia, and in the coming days we'll see more powerful mice entering the game in a different stage... Unlike Dig's however I'm guessing they'll all be located in this area... but the charms/trap may play a role in the higher levels.
