My progress through the Journeyman level seems to be going very slowly, and I'm mostly catching mice of lesser value. Anything I can do to speed up the process?
Also, how does one send gifts?
~Riella
That's completely normal, Ithi. The higher you climb, the longer it takes to level up. It takes MONTHS for me to level up now (a common mouse might only raise my progress by .01 percent.)
One sends gifts by hovering over the "friends" tab. Then click on "Send Free Gifts." You can send up to fifteen free gifts per day, but only one per person. You can send an unlimited amount of paid gifts.
I'm up to 8 cake batters.

Ithi, there's also a "Free Gifts" tab at the top of the page (third from the left). That's where I usually go to send and accept them.
Note for those just arriving at the event: in order to move quickly through the ingredient gathering process, you will want to arm Party Charms. I went most of the night without them, and only got two drops compared to a 100% drop rate with the charms. So, everyone send Party Charms (since we've none of us made it through enough to buy them. )!
Fantasia, would you advise getting the Cheesecake Base before this is over, provided the Carrot Cake Base in't an improvement?

Not trying to be offensive but the trap released really isn't all that good,

I don't think that the traps and bases released during the birthday party have ever been good. (Unless you're new to the game like Ithilwen is ) They've just been more of a collector's item to say you did the event. I don't expect the Carrot Cake Base to be any different.
And stwin, whether or not you buy the Cheesecake Base is up to you. If you do get it, you can skip buying the WBWT and use it in Zugzwang's Tower, but that's probably the only place you'll ever use it.
ETA: Do people want Nanny Charms (It will catch the Terrible Twos Mouse) or Party Charms (increases your chance to catch mice that drop cake bits) ?? And just so everyone knows, I have all the names down on my big list, I will send charms out so everyone gets an equal amount from me.
ETA 2: I sent everybody a Birthday Bear who didn't already have one. No need to return the favor, I already have all of the collectibles. Save your gold.

Right now Party Charms would be perfect! I still have 40 Nanny Charms left over so I'm good for a while there.

I have 1 Nanny Charm and 4 Party charms. I'll take either one. I thought I'd caught at least one TT mouse, but apparently not. What do they drop?
"To the Great Western Wood, I give you...."
I need both kinds of charms. I have nine Party charms and six Nanny charms.
I'm up to 11 Blobs of Cake Batter.
Spoilerish tip so you all don't make the same mistake I did.....
My team is going to magically come in the top 50% of our tournament. I don't know how we pulled that off, but Yay!
My own progress
I have five Party Charms and three Nanny Charms, so either one would be muchly appreciated.
What's the best setup for this kind of event, by the way? Strongest physical trap or strongest trap in general? I've been using my Swiss Army because nothing else seemed to be working, but it's not turning in a very spectacular performance either. (Or maybe I'm just impatient. )

Lucky traps. On the forums they were saying if you could push it to 23 luck, it would help.
Just got my carrot cake base. Apparently, you can't attract the dinosuit mice without it.
This base is actually a slab of cake sneakily sliced from the carrot cake constructed to attract the Dinosuit Mouse during MouseHunt's Fourth Birthday. In addition to attracting mice, it also attracts the occasional rabbit, whose passing feet have lent this base a +3 luck bonus, making it the luckiest birthday cake base yet!
Your strongest trap in general malkah. Taking a peek at your options, I'd go with the ACRONYM and see how that does. If that doesn't work very well, then maybe the Ambush would be a better bet. Good luck!
I went ahead and bought the party trap. Looks like you have to rebuild the cake again to catch another dinosuit mouse. As I need another polaroid to get the original birthday cake base, I will be going around another time.
I've gotten 9/15 of my icings, which is pretty good in my opinion, seeing as I only started last night .
That carrot cake base's stats are absolutely pathetic (in my opinion). It's not even worth it for inexperienced players!
Save for the Halloween event (which has always been my favourite) this year's events have been terrible in my opinion. I guess we can only hope for a great easter event (it was so much fun last year!!!)
Our team is participating in a MH birthday tournament this evening. There are a lot of teams participating in this one (411 thus far!!!) so it should be interesting to see how we fare.

DiGs, I have some bad news for you. If the only way an event is going to be fun for you is to get a trap/base upgrade, you're not going to enjoy another event for a very, very long time, maybe never. Cause the last time I remember getting a trap upgrade from an event (not counting Ronza) is umm..... the Christmas Cracker Trap from Christmas 2009. It is the downside of being a top player in the game.
I'm curious, what were you expecting? The base is right on par with every other single birthday base so far. The trap is HILARIOUS. The event is nice and simple and fun and funny. AND! Some of the packages have SB+ in them. So yeah, this event gets a big thumbs up from me. I definitely prefer it over the Dragon Chinese New Year event.
I'm currently using my Chrome Rhinobot + Wooden Base with Target. I switched to the Molten Shrapnel Base for a little while but it didn't work as well as I'd hoped. I'd hoped I'd get more loot drops with the higher luck and I'd have higher power and yet still have 5% attraction. However, the extra attraction on the WBT seems to help a lot. When I was using the MSB, I had a much higher failure to attract percentage. And because the CRB + MSB has such a high stale rating, my cheese would go stale. It's only Brie, so it's not like it's a huge deal, but still. I want to catch mice pretty much every time.
I finished getting the Blobs of Batter and have one Dollop of Icing so far.
Digs, I'm hoping for a great Easter event too! I just started MH the day the Easter event started last year. I got a whole bunch of eggs but wasn't high enough ranked by the end to be able to get all the eggs and the Mallet so I could smash them. So I have 14 eggs sitting in my Special inventory that I've been waiting an entire year to smash! It'll also be nice to get them out of my inventory so they're not cluttering it up so I'm always having to scroll up and down when trying to find new stuff in there (Pepper Plants, gift boxes, Unstable Curd, etc.)
