Pattertwigs Pal

Name: Sorry that information is classified ;))

Any other nicknames(s):
Online: PP, Pal, Twigs, Miss Monday, Twiggy, Kix

Country/area living in: Twin Cities

Approx age: 26

Personal info: Offline I’m very quiet until I get to know people. I live with my cat Aravis. I have one sister who is younger than me. I like to read, do projects on my computer, shop, cook, and bake.

Professional info: I’m a part time cashier. I’m licensed to teach elementary school, middle school Communication Arts and Literature and K-12 German, but I haven’t found a job yet. I’ve been substitute teaching and hoping to get a steady teaching job.

Physical Stats: I’m 5’2 with blonde hair and blue eyes.

Most embarrassing moment in last 12 months: I’m sure there was something, but I’m drawing a bit of a blank. It is embarrassing when I call students by the wrong name or mispronounce their names.

Favorites:

Books: Chronicles of Narnia, the Hobbit and LotR, many books by Madeline L’Engle, Nancy Drew, the Hardy Boys, Pride and Prejudice, Sherlock Holmes, Tommy and Tuppence, etc.

Movies: LWW and the other Narnia Movies, LotR, many Pixar Movies, many Disney Classics and Muppet Movies

TV shows: Miniseries: BBC’s The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe, Prince Caspian and the Voyage of the Dawn Treader and Silver Chair, BBC’s Pride and Prejudice, Regular: Hardy Boys / Nancy Drew Mysteries, Scarecrow and Mrs. King

Food: Mashed potatoes and gravy, strawberries (especially with bananas), bread / rolls, sugar cookies, strawberry cake, Pillsbury cake and ice cream ice cream, Cherry Vanilla FroZing

Favorite animal: It used to be horses but I think it is more cats now.

Music:
The soundtrack from the BBC’s Narnia, Soundtracks from Walden’s Narnia, Musical type music (ex. Sound of Music), Shaun Cassidy, Partridge Family, Christmas music

Favorite Narnia Book: LWW

History on Narniaweb:
I joined May 16th 2009 because I wanted be a part of the Reading Group: Are The Chronicles of Narnia Sexist and Racist? For quite a while, I was too scared to venture out of there. ;)) I did eventually. I became a member of the Birthday Committee on September 7, 2010. I co-hosted a Lion Party for VDT. I became a Mod on March 24, 2011.

What he/she likes best about Narniaweb: I like that I get to discuss Narnia (and have people pay attention to what I’m saying ;)) ) and that I have found a lot of people who share interest with me.

Rule most often forgotten by me: Well, I got my first and only PM from a Mod (johobbit) about rule breaking a rule was for double posting. I tend to get a little off topic at times.

Favorite/funniest Nweb memory: Probably going back and forth with Shadowlander about inflatable Christmas decorations. (They are the tackiest things ever!)
First Narniaweb Post:

1. (sexist) No, I do not. In each of his books he has strong female and male characters. In the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, Father Christmas does make the statement that "battles are ugly when women fight," but that is one character's opinion and it is hard to tell exactly what he means by it. In hand to hand combat with a sword, it would be very hard for a woman to match a man because women are not made to build a lot of muscles. Earlier he says he "he does not mean" Susan to fight and that Lucy is not to be in the battle. For Susan in particular, he seems to be expressing a wish. The children's ages also need to be considered. Lucy is fairly young. Also, I have always pictured the battle being in a wood area where there wouldn't be much place for archers anyway. Actually, I think Lucy and Susan get the better end of deal - they get to be close to Aslan. It reminds me of the story of Mary and Martha a little. Lucy and Susan get to listen and be near Aslan while Peter and Edmund are off in the battle. I would chose being near Aslan over a battle any day. People who focus on that the female characters do not fight as much as the male are missing one of the main points of the stories and that is the importance of Aslan. It is not that Lucy and Susan would not be brave enough; it is that they have their job to do which is more special than fighting in a battle. Lucy shows that she is brave in other ways. She stands up for what she knows is true to her older brothers and sisters which cannot be easy. Ever since I read the books as a girl, I have strongly identified with Lucy and wanted to be like her. That's all the time I have for now but I'll post more later.

From the old forum Part 1 of the Reading Group: Introduction and Accusations

Typical Sayings(s): I know, I’m weird; Oh wait; Wait, what?

Comments by other mods:

Pattertwig's Pal (or Twiggy as I call her), is one of the most compassionate mods on the mod squad. She always has the right words to say to lift the spirits of her fellow mods, and is always willing to listen to your problems, even though she may be drowning in problems of her own. It is an honour and a privelege to call her my colleague, but even more of an honour and privelege to call her my friend. ~ DiGs

PP was one of my first friends on the forum. She made me feel warm and welcome when I was still feeling very shy. Her posts in N&C and in the Till We Have Faces reading group were always well thought out and made me stop and think. I really look up to her and really like working with her on the Mod Squad. ~ daughter of the King

Yes
6. Are you excited to do mod-of-the-week?
Excited is not the word I would use. :P
7. How many questions do you think you'll get?
Um. No idea. 500?
8. Did you like how they portrayed Pattertwig in the movie?
I wish they would have had him say his lines from the book. I would have loved to see him running around telling everyone to be quiet. ;)) But, yes, I do like his portrayal.
9. Do you like Pattertwig or Reepicheep better?
Pattertwig but Reepicheep is great too.
10. What is your favorite Narnia Chronicle?
LWW
11. What is your favorite season?
Winter
12. What is your favorite kind of weather?
Snow as long as I don’t have to drive in it. ;))
13. Sunrise or sunset?
Sunrise – I’ve seen more of them than sunsets
14. Full moon or crescent?
Full moon
15. Have you attended a Twins game in the new Target Field yet?
Not yet. I’ll be going to a Twins game with my dad in August.
16. Which smilie most represents you?
:|
17. If you could re-name yourself in real life, what name would you have?
Violet
18. Is Pattertwig your favorite character?
He’s one of them but not my favorite.
19. Why did you pick the username you chose?
When I was younger, I got a stuffed squirrel and named him Pattertwig. I tend to name by stuffed animals after book characters. I think Pattertwig was one of the first Narnia ones I got. My mom would pretend to be him and I would have conversations with him. He has remained one of my favorite stuffed animals and when I needed a stuffed animal to "talk" to the Sunday school Kindergarten class, I took him with. I also took him with me to Germany and took pictures of him in different locations. (I learned in college that it helps kids learn about different places if they see something familiar in the pictures). I decided that if I every joined the forum I would use Pattertwig's Pal as my username or I think that is the way it happened. :- It is partially based on the book character and partially a reference to my stuffed animal (and the fun memories attached to it). I settled on the Pal part because I liked the repetition of the "P."
20. Have you ever played the Nancy Drew PC games?
I’ve played two of them.
21. What is your definition of beauty?
I really like the way beauty is portrayed in VDT when Lewis describes Lucy as being almost as beautiful as the Lucy in the picture when she sees Aslan.
22. What makes someone a true hero?
Putting others first
23. What is the meaning of life?
Living for God and Jesus
24. How would you describe the human heart?
Do you mean the muscle that pumps blood or the part of the brain that is emotional?
25. What do you fear most?
Rejection
26. What fictional character (from anything) is nearest to your heart, and why?
Lucy, I’ve always wanted to be like her.
27. What do you do when you get angry?
Complain / rant and sometimes yell.
28. Who's your favorite LOTR character and why?
Sam – I like how he sticks by Frodo no matter what.
29. What LOTR character do you dislike most and why?
Probably Denethor because he was so cruel to Faramir
30. What is the best Nancy Drew book you've read?
Secrets of the Nile – it’s actually a Nancy Drew / Hardy Boy combo book.
31. Do you like any other Jane Austen stories besides P&P?
I’ve read Sense and Sensibility and I liked it.
32. If George is a girl, what is Bess?
Also a girl
33. If you could live comfortably on any planet besides earth, which would you pick?
Do dwarf planets count? If yes, I’ve always been fond of Pluto.
34. Do dwarf women have beards?
I wouldn’t think so but there seems to be some confusion in that area.
35. Ever hear Auto-tune the news?
No
36. What's the most awesome thing you ever saw on Youtube?
It was cool to see the black and white LWW clips
37. What's the dumbest thing you ever saw on Youtube?
I know I’ve seen some dumb things but I’m drawing a blank write now on what they were. :-
38. What is the strangest thing someone ever said to you in real life?
That’s a tough one. When I was hired for cashiering I was asked if I could deal with people because all my experience on my resume was with children. /:)
39. Why do people say diamonds are a girl's best friend, and a dog is a man's best friend?
Because women have more sense. Diamonds are every so much nicer than dogs.
40. Have you ever randomly thought about astronauts?
I can’t say that I have.
41. What does the ad on the side of your screen sell?
I have ad blocker so there isn’t an ad.
42. A person has lived a full, complete life, if...?
They have lived for Christ
43. What's at the center of your soul?
God and Christ
44. If someone sang a song to you under your window, what would you do?
That depends on the song and who was singing it. ;))
45. What is the best thing a person can learn, if trapped in a situation from which they can't escape?
Patience
46. if you can escape from a bad situation, should you? Or should you live it and learn from it?

47. What do you think of squirrels?
They’re cute.
48. Are squirrels better than chipmunks?

Yes
59. Do you think that makes them the superheroes of squirrel-dom?
Of course!
60. Red squirrel or gray squirrel?
Red squirrel

A red squirrel – one that talks. ;))
62. If you were a squirrel, where would you live?
In a tree
63. Do you think the squirrels know too much?
Yes. They are outsmarting humans all the time.
64. What are the squirrels REALLY doing with all those acorns?
That is a secret that they divulge to no one.
65. What would you do if a giant squirrel came out of the sea and proceeded to crush New York City with squeaky fury?
Get as far away from it as possible.

I'll be back. *cough* O:) :p

*feels sorry for Pattertwigs Pal because she is being asked so many questions, (although thinks she is doing a wonderful job so far at answering them), so decides to not ask her any questions (for now) and instead comment on some of her information in the first post*

Approx age: 26

I'm 26 as well! I thought you were maybe in your late teens or early 20's, because most people on this forum seem to be around that age. (*Hopes my misconception about her age does not insult Pattertwigs Pal!*) That's so cool that we're the same age! (*Resorts to asking a question, but just one*): When is your birthday, Pattertwigs Pal? Mine's in March.

Professional info: I’m a part time cashier. I’m licensed to teach elementary school, middle school Communication Arts and Literature and K-12 German, but I haven’t found a job yet. I’ve been substitute teaching and hoping to get a steady teaching job.

I like teaching children, too. It can definitely be a challenge at times, that's for sure, but that's good in a way, because it keeps you on your toes - keeps you from getting too comfortable. And it can be so rewarding, also! The main thing about teaching kids, I find, is the fact that it never gets old; there's always a fresh situation or issue to deal with, and that's part of what makes the job so interesting! Kids are great! :D I hope you can find a steady teaching job soon!

I'm a big fan of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings books, and movies, (for the latter), also. One more question: Did you read LotR after or before you saw the movies? I read the book before, and, even though the movies are very well done, I like the book better :p . I bet you're looking forward to The Hobbit movies! I am!!

King

Music: The soundtrack from the BBC’s Narnia, Soundtracks from Walden’s Narnia, Musical type music (ex. Sound of Music), Shaun Cassidy, Partridge Family, Christmas music

I really like the BBC Narnia movies and the soundtrack as well. I love how the movies, even though the visual effects aren't that great, stick to the stories from the books so well - with tons of direct quotes and everything! And I love the soundtrack - so gorgeous on the solo French horn! I like playing it on the piano, too.

History on Narniaweb:...I became a member of the Birthday Committee on September 7, 2011...

Um... I think you mean September 7, 2010! :p :)

75. Did you read LotR after or before you saw the movies?
I read them first. I would haven't have seen the movies if I hadn't read the books.

85. What is a CCD Moderator?
A Moderator in charge of keeping an eye on the Cast and Character Discussion forum.
86. Why does your location list you as a detective?
I love mysteries and Fanny and I are the detective duo of the Birthday Committee.
87. Are you sad you had to do mod of the week?
Sad isn't the word I would use either. I don't think it's mandatory ...
88. Is Mod of the Week fun?
At times. It's more fun when I'm not the one answering questions. ;))
89. Are you going to ask Mountie a lot of questions when its her turn?
That depends on how many she asks me. ;)) Yes, Mountie that is a threat.
90. What do you think of Martin Freeman playing Bilbo?
I don't think I've seen him in anything so I don't really have an opinion of him as an actor. He looks hobbitlike in the picture that was released a little while ago.
91. What is your favorite moment in The Hobbit?
I have to pick just one! :-o :p *thinks* I guess the part when Bilbo runs out to follow the Dwarves without any of the necessary items.
92. What is your favorite moment in LOTR?
I love the part where Sam is talking about their being part of a story.
93. What Tolkien passage would you say is best-written?
The one I mentioned above.
94. Have you seen Alice in Wonderland by Tim Burton?
No
95. Did you like it?
I haven't seen it but I don't like the preview or the images I've seen. It looks creepy. :-s
96. What classic book do you most want to read?
Ack I have to pick one! I have a lot on my reading list. *sigh* I'll go with Paradise Lost because it was the first one that came to mind. :P
97. Have you ever read any of the Dragonriders of Pern series?
No
