Name: flambeau.
Any other nicknames(s): On here I am often called flam or The Torch. In real life I am often called Beffy (please don't ask where it came from!) or Bessie. (There was also a time when Djaq called me Dougie, but that was a while ago, and it's hard to explain how that one came about. )
Country/area living in: United States (the southern section ).
Approx age: Old enough to know better.
Personal info: I am a Christian, and the fifth child in a family of six children (five girls, one boy). I am fairly quiet in real life, and I tend to spend more of my time thinking than talking. However, get me started on a topic that I'm interested in and I can ramble with the best of 'em! I'm a bit shy (especially around people I don't know very well), but I tend to hide it with humor.
I dislike shopping (with a passion!), and would prefer to spend my time at home either reading or doing something on the computer.
I love graphic design! It is one of my favorite things to do, and I find that it's something that I'm actually fairly good at.
My best friend is my sister - and fellow NWebber - Djaq.
Professional info: I am a homeschool graduate. I worked part time as the 'delivery girl' at a local florist for almost a year, but am currently unemployed. I have also volunteered at a horse ranch for disabled children.
Physical Stats: I am 5' 3 (ish)" tall. I have short, straight, medium brown hair and gray-blue eyes.
Most embarrassing moment in last 12 months: That would most likely be the time I was at work, and I had to deliver a plant to someone's house. No one was home, so I called my boss and asked her what I should to do with the plant (we were unsure if the people were on vacation, or simply not home at the moment). She said to leave it on the front porch, and then call the house and leave a message telling the homeowners about the plant. So, I returned the plant to the front porch, and then returned to the delivery car so I could call and leave the message. (Now, just so you know, I am not the best person on the phone when I'm talking to people that I *do* know, so my least favorite thing to do at work was to call people that I *didn't* know.) I called the number on the delivery ticket, and the answering machine picked up. At that moment, my brain went completely blank. C.o.m.p.l.e.t.e.l.y. blank. I could not remember what I was supposed to tell the people. So, the message that I left ended up sounding something like this:
".....uh.... This is [my name] with [flower shop name]. *loooooong pause* I am calling to let you know that I left a plant.... on your front porch..... If there's anything wrong with it when you find it, please call and let us know.... *another long pause as I realize that I cannot remember the phone number to the flower shop!!!!! I stutter a little bit, trying to remember the number, finally give up*... Good bye." *click*
That was so terrible! Definitely not my best moment.
Favorites:
Books: Gods and Generals, The Killer Angels, The Last Full Measure, Frank Peretti's Darkness series, The Man Who Was Thursday, Manalive, The Ball and The Cross, all of the Narnia books, and many, many more!
Movies: (in no particular order) LWW, PC, Gods and Generals, Gettysburg, Facing the Giants, Fireproof, Flywheel, Come What May... Like that.
TV shows: BBC Robin Hood.
Food: Homemade bread!! I also love Chocolate Chip Cookies. Another favorite is Taco Soup (yum!).
Favorite animal: Dogs. I also like horses.
Music: I like a variety of music. I enjoy listening to movie soundtracks (favorites being Gods and Generals, both Narnia soundtracks, Gettysburg, and The Man From Snowy River), and quite a bit of instrumental stuff. I also enjoy listening to music I can sing to, especially when I'm driving in a car by myself (no one can hear me then. ). My favorite artists are David Klinkenberg, Jim Brickman, MissAravis ( ), Redcast, Nickel Creek, Tenth Avenue North, and most recently Switchfoot.
Favorite Narnia Book: Prince Caspian.
History on Narniaweb: I have been a member for almost two years (my two year anniversary is one month from today! ), but to tell the truth, I actually never planned to join! Djaq joined first, and then she sort of wanted me to join. I wasn't really interested at the time, so I didn't bother with it. Then, one night my brother asked me what my username would be if I did join, and I told him I thought the name 'Flambeau' would be neat (I also explained why I would choose that name). He liked it so much that he created a profile for me a few days later so no one else could take that user-name! I didn't actually start 'using' my profile until a few weeks later. I posted for the first time in a wallpaper contest, and then didn't post again until about 4 months later when Djaq and I posted details about our Susan Battle Dress in the Costume section. It all just sort of took off from there!
At the beginning of this year (January 4th, to be exact. ), Fantasia_Kitty asked me if I would like to become a moderator in the Fan Art section and my answer was 'yes', so here I am!
What he/she likes best about Narniaweb: I really love all of the wonderful people that I've met on here! There are so many excellent members, and I am really grateful to have met all of you!
Oh, and the Fan Art section.
Rule most often forgotten by me: Uh, well I try not to forget the rules, so I'm not sure there is one that I'm in the habit of breaking. However-this isn't a rule but-I am horrible at replying to PMs! I have this awful habit of forgetting to answer them. So, please don't be offended if I haven't responded to something you've sent me!
Favorite/funniest Nweb memory: Ohhh, that would probably be 'The Quest' by Phosphorus in the Spoiler-Free Monastery before Prince Caspian came out (As I recall, 'The Quest' also involved The Black Glove, Lysander, and Studymate). I remember laughing so hard I actually cried! I have the whole thing saved in a word document, and I go back and read it every so often. It provides a good laugh (It is actually where my user-title came from; 'The Sociable Hermit of Kalamazoo' )!
Another one would probably be the time I got my first graphics request. I had not started posting graphics yet, but someone PM'd me and asked me if I would make them a wallpaper. I was on cloud nine!
First Narniaweb Post: My first post was on the old forum, and sadly is no longer available. I think that this is my first one on the new forum.
Typical Sayings(s): "Very nice." (my usual response when someone asks me what I think about something) "Not much." (my usual response when someone asks what I'm doing.) and "Probably buy a snorkel." (frequently used when someone asks what they would do without me. And yes, I did borrow that from Adventures in Odyssey. )
Comments by other mods:
I recall requesting a wallpaper variation of a signature I saw flam sporting soon after she joined. Even then her graphics were beautiful. I was rather nervous, since I figured it was kind of a strange request. But she was very sweet about it, and made me an absolutely gorgeous wallpaper that I used for the longest time. We also had some crazy greetings. So, to sum up, flambeau is sweet, and funny, and makes awesome graphics, and is a wonderful person to be around. -Meltintalle
It's so good to have flambeau aboard the mod team. She is a solid addition!
Way back, I remember noticing how mature and well-thought-out her posts were and thought "my, she'd make a good moderator some day". She's also a lot of fun and I do enjoy the banter and camaraderie that best friend sisters share. Like her sister, Djaq, she is a graphic queen and I'm awed by her work.
I appreciate flambeau very much for her steadfast and solid spirit ... plus her username is great (being a Father Brown fan, myself).
Enjoy your MotW, flam. Know that it will consume your time, but it really is a lot of work fun!

flambeau is my best friend along with being my sister (or the other way around. . .) and I am so thankful God made us both (sisters and friends)! Despite our age difference, we're quite close in everything else. Well, actually, our personalities are opposites and tastes are completely different, but we know each other really well.
I LOVE the fact that we were able to become moderators at the same time! It has been so fun learning everything together!
Thank you for putting up with all of my random thoughts and odd jokes. You're a terrific person, a great moderator and a blessing in my life!

Interesting footnote...everytime I see you leave a post I think of the flamberge, which is an old medieval sword with an almost serrated edge. Just an aside.
Not so much a question as an observation/suggestion. I love The Killer Angels and the associated movies myself. Have you perchance checked into Gingrich/Forstchen Civil War trilogy? It starts off with Gettysburg: A Novel of the Civil War, which itself acts (quite directly) on the belief that had Lee listened to Longstreet about pulling back from Gettysburg on Day #2 the whole thing would have been much different. Excellent books...if you loved the Killer Angels you'll probably enjoy these too as they have the same characters with some rather interesting alternate history parallels.
And now a few questions!

That's it for now.

11. That term comes from something on the old forum... *tries to think of how to describe it* There was this thread called 'The Spoiler Free Monastery' before Prince Caspian came out (all of the people who were going 'spoiler free' hung out in there), and everyone talked/typed in old English type speech. One of the members of the Monastery went on a fictional 'quest' the find the 'Sociable Hermit of Kalamazoo'. I found the name amusing, and so I chose it for my user-title.
