Growing up I used to watch Tom & Jerry. In one short they let water spill all over the house and than lowered the temperature enough to freeze it. I figured I'd do this as an adult so I could skate inside the house. I also longed to be older to fill a room with water, close the door so as to make a pool of the room and have a place to swim.
When I was very little, I must have had the idea that cartoons were real people....
I did too! I somehow got the idea in my mind that if I drove in a car in a straight line, never mind which direction it was in, I thought that if I drove long enough I would end up in a cartoon world, sort of like Roger Rabbit. Only, this cartoon world wasn't for all cartoons- it was for Marvel, X-Men in particular.
Which reminds me, I used to think that whatever you pray, if you prayed hard enough- it would come true. This is sort of embarrassing, because I was eleven years old, way beyond the age of such nonsense. I got it in my mind to pray every night to be a mutant- never Cyclops or Spiderman or Wolverine. I asked to be Morph, (if you don't know who he is, he is like Mystique- could change into anyone else). I figured that by being him I could be all of them
I used to think that puppets moved themselves.....

I used to think that in a movie, they never stopped the camera, they just filmed the whole thing in one shot. I always wondered how the camera changed to different shots so fast. I didn't understand that you could stop film and then edit it later.
I also thought the actors would have to change their costumes at lightning speed so they could be ready for the next shot .
THAT IS SO FUNNY! Change at lightning speed...
Until just recently, I kept thinking that "earth" and "world" are the same thing (I just realized..oh...they aren't. There can be other worlds, right...? After all, Narnia is a world! Should have learned from Narnia!!

A Narnia-related misconception!!
LWW was the first movie I ever saw in theaters. Before that, I'd only seen live plays where the actors would come out and talk to people afterwards. So, I really liked the movie way back then, and afterward, I innocently and loudly asked my mother as we were walking out,
"Can we meet the actors?"

lol! I can't imagine what it would be like to think that LWW the movie was a play. Were you expecting to get to meet the centaurs and fauns and beavers too?
I just remembered one. Apparently, my mother never knew what to call the rubber bands used for ponytails and whatnot and once, out of frustration, called it a "hair do-dobby." I thought that was what they were actually called and I'm pretty sure I referred to "hair ties" (my more mature term for them) as "hair do-dobbies" for years. I was probably in my teens before I realized that they are not actually called that.
When I was younger I used to think that my parents chose who would get to be my grandparents. So, naturally, I wondered who my mom and dad's parents were, and asked my mom. When she replied that Grandma and Grandpa were her parents, I thought it was so cool that she chose her own parents to be my grandparents!
Man, thinking it over, I was really naive as a kid! I remember thinking that the a-word was only a swearword when it was by itself, and that if you added "jack" in front of it, it was okay, because then it meant donkey (I had seen it on a cartoon, of all things)! Imagine the shock of my little second-grade friends when I blurted it out loud (especially from a little goody-good like me)!
Can't think of any others right now, although I know there are plenty more...

I used to think that Narnia was real and I would go into my wardrobe (I was 5 years old) and try to get in the back..... I used to have "conversations" with Tumnus for hours in there

When I was little I heard my mom say "Craddle Cap" and I thought she said "Craddle
Also, one time I read some kids book that was about a family that lived a long time ago, and in the pictures the whole family had red hair, so I asked my older sister if everyone had red hair back then, , she had a good time teasing me after that
When I was little, I thought names could only be pretty if they started with "A", especially "Amanda". Also, you know how in the theme song for a tv show they often show clips? I thought that they acted out the theme song clips first and then made sure that the acting in the episode the clip was from looked exactly the same.
I also thought that infinity came after 100. I felt so cool being able to count to infinity.
^^ lol that's awesome!
I used to think that showers were connected to a river somewhere and that you were bathing in real river water through the shower head

When i was little I asked my mom if my middle name was my real name and she said yes so I went to school and told everyone not to call me Rachel anymore that my real name was Olivia ..
At my church every calls each other brother or sister and for the longest time I thought that they all really were my brothers and sisters hahahaha
I always thought that booboos were the real name for scratchs and scabs and whatnot and I called them booboos till I was like 10 hahaha

As a child, I used to think we were inside the earth. And in order to get to outer space, you had to break through the earth's crust. I always wondered how astronauts repaired the holes they made in the earth, lol.

LOL!!! This forum is so funny!!!
I always thought that Mars was inhabited by enormous giant moose that slobered all over the place (a tall tale my older sister told me...and I actually believed her!)
I was also 100% sure that elevators were big boxes with huge thick strings attached to them, and at the top of the elevators were BIG muscular men who pulled the elevators up and down. I loved going down the elevator because I knew it was easy for the Big Men, because all they had to do was let go of the rope, but I never wanted to ride up the elevator because I thought, "The poor men!!! They have to pull this heavy box up, and it must be SO HEAVY!!"

In school, I always thought each grade was the first letter of a word. Like, I thought that if you got a B, that meant you did Bad, because B stood for Bad. I was always trying to figure out what A stood for...
