You could use henna. I've never tried it, though.

I'm looking for a brush to apply liquid foundation and I'm hesitating between a typical foundation brush and a stippling brush. I'm leaning towards the stippling brush because the effects always look great in the YouTube tutorials I've seen but I wanted to know if anyone here had a preference?

I've never used a brush to apply my foundation, actually. For some reason I just think it'd be kind of a pain to have to clean the brush all the time, and my fingers are always easy and available. :P I think fingers also allow a slightly more heavy coverage which I like.

So... do y'all like cream or powder foundations better? I've only tried powder, so I'm wondering what's preferred...

If y'all don't mind me budding in ;) I like to use both. I first put on cream foundation with a mix of my lotion, and then put on powder to seal it for all day. I have a question too! What do you guys think about teal eyeshadow? crazy 8-} or good? :D

Hmm, I think it would depend on the person wearing it and if it was excessive or not. If it was tastefully applied and on someone with the right coloring I think it could probably be very pretty. :)

If you google 'teal eyeshadow' most of the people look quite nice.

To me, Lady Lill, make-up is to accentuate what is already there, and eyelids don't naturally come in the teal shade. :P So, to me, its crazy and doesn't help, and on some people almost seems to say "I'm not confident in how I look naturally." (Not to say that all people who use odd colors are not confident--some I know sport really weird/not natural colors just because they're so confident!)

Queen Susan, I've always tended to prefer liquid. ;)) Although, that's what I started with, and I've only used powder for stage or for effects purposes.

Thanks you guys! I was asking because I bought some crazy teal eye shadow and I'm not sure how to wear it with out making me look like a clown. :p I'm also not sure if it goes with my skin tone which is really fair. I got it because it looks great with my eyes! :)

*pops her head into this interesting thread*

The most important thing I found with eyeshadow is that you really need decent brands. The cheap ones just don't cut it for the most part. However, seeing that the expensive brands are just well soo expensive :P I recomment trying to buy them off ebay. I bought a set of Mac shimmer eyeshadows off ebay for about $40 (the same amount retails for about $120 +). There were 12 colours in the set so I thought that I got a really good deal. The way I apply my eyeshadow is usually to select 3 colours and then:

1 apply the lightest colour over the whole eye up to the eyebrows (make sure this colour is very light).

2. Apply the medium colour on the crease line (where your eyelid meets your brow bone if you get my meaning :P) and along the bottom of your top eyelid. However, don't go the whole way along - only go half way and really blend in.

3 Apply the darkest colour half way along the top of your eyelashes (where you applied the medium colour)

4 Blend, blend blend!!

This sounds like a fair bit of messing about but once you are used to it it takes only a minute or two to do :) I found it on a youtube clip somewhere but I can't remember what it was called. It's especially good for a smokey eye but I use it whenever I wear eyeshadow :)

I only wear makeup when I go out (which seeing I live about 2 hours from town isn't all that often) however I enjoy messing about with it. Has anyone got some tips for using concealer. I bought some just the other day and would appreciate any advice on getting it to blend properly. Should I put it on over foundation or under it? I've tried both ways and prefered it when I put it on over, what do you all think?

@Eowyn of Lanter_Waste: I've always heard that you're supposed to put the coverup over the foundation, otherwise you'll just wipe it off when you put the foundation on. I've also found that if you put the coverup on with one of those latex-free wedges, that it blends a lot easier than if you use your fingers.

Eowyn of Lantern_Waste- I put on foundation first with a bit of lotion, and then I would put on concealer, and then I would do a powder. Or you can leave out the foundation a just do concealer and powder. For me it works both ways.

I have yet another question! Should I put powder under my eyes to conceal under eye circles or that creamy eye brightening stuff?

Lol...we obviously have a different approach to makeup then, since to me it's all about being creative and having fun with it. I say, if you like the teal eyeshadow, go for it! And don't worry too much about whether or not it goes with your skin color---if you're fair practicly everything will, I find. Anyone can wear any color--it just depends on what shade it is.
So if you do wear the teal eyeshadow, make sure the rest of your look (hair, lips, etc) is pretty natural and not too crazy. You can also try using a brush to apply bright colored eyeshadow as a eyeliner instead, so you get the fun color but without the all-over- look.

However, seeing that the expensive brands are just well soo expensive :P I recomment trying to buy them off ebay. I bought a set of Mac shimmer eyeshadows off ebay for about $40 (the same amount retails for about $120 +).

Be careful buying MAC off of ebay, though, because, Eowyn, I think you probably got hoodwinked. MAC doesn't sell that many product sets, and none in shimmer that I am aware of or that I could find on MAC's full product listings. There are only two eyeshadow sets that MAC sells, and both are smokey eye sets.

For those of you who want to buy MAC products cheap, tread carefully. I'd also suggest taking a look at articles such as this one (warning--slight language, but a very very VERY useful guide), and perhaps watching some youtube videos on spotting the difference between real and fake products. The sad thing is, often you can't tell until you're holding the product in your hand--in which case, it is sometimes too late to get your money back.

Another suggestion--before you buy any product off ebay or another cheaper alternative, check out the official website and see if they actually sell that item (for example, MAC's official website is www.maccosmetics.com). If you can't find the product on the website, I'd advise not buying it. The chance that it is a "discontinued item" is really, really low.

Since I'm on a MAC-related rant (:P) while the official website DOES take a while to load, it is worth going on and watching their tutorial videos. It is really good for getting ideas and just becoming familiar with all the parts of putting together a great face.

Lol...we obviously have a different approach to makeup then, since to me it's all about being creative and having fun with it.

Welll...considering that I'm either applying it for someone else or looking at a very professional setting, unnatural colors aren't a good idea. I think you can still be very creative with a natural palette (and you can't help but admit I have been :P), but still be professional and fun.

I have yet another question! Should I put powder under my eyes to conceal under eye circles or that creamy eye brightening stuff?

Putting just foundation under will only make dark circles look worse. Go for a product that is specifically designed for hiding dark circles, and then go over that with your normal foundation. :)
