Sorry Lucy I can't answer that. I usally just wear powder. When I go places I put lip gloss and mascarra on with it. I don't know HOW some girls put on cheap mascarra! It clumps and don't look right or anything. That is a pet peave with me. I wear Clinique mascarra and I recemend it too. Now about my hair. My hair is bushy so I put moose in it and scrunch it to make it wavey then after it dries I loosen it and none would be the wiser! My hair is bush free! :D

Lucy P., the link doesn't work but I'm guessing it's eyeliner of some sort??

Thanks for the advice everyone! I cut sugar (but not fat, I can't afford to lose much weight) and my bacne's amazingly calmed down! I really appreciate it!

That's great! My teenage sister was having the same problem (with pimples on her back) and she also changed her diet -doing a colon cleanse detox (which was not a synthetic packet mix bought at the chemist, it was an organic blend of strong, strong herbs that you drink everyday -HUGE difference) and she also found her skin starting to clear up. However what really saw the last of them on her back was the use of colloidal silver (taken internally and actually sprayed on her back every day). The results were amazing! It worked incredibly fast -within a week of her (obsessively) spraying her back it cleared up, and also visibly reduced any scars she had (which makes sense, because it promotes new/healthy tissue formation).

So....I would definitely recommend getting your hands on some colloidal silver, but not all kinds are the same -some are useless, we made our own :)

Here is a site listing brands of true colloidal silver (although ionic solutions are still effective, they are not the best) http://silver-colloids.com/Reports/true ... ducts.html

The simple version of how it works is by disabling the oxygen mechanism of pathogens/bad bacteria (thus choking them to death). Traditionally it's used in wound packings, infections, water purification and can be used to treat 'incurable' diseases (you could google Dr.Bob Beck if you're interested in that last one!)

p.s. as with most things, colloidal silver should be taken in moderation, too much of it can cause agryia (blue gray silvery skin!)

Hope some of that was helpful!

I'm not sure where else I'd put this. I don't wear makeup and as far as my hair goes I get a nice, military style haircut every 3 weeks (just shy of getting whitewalls ;)) ) but no other thread really seems to fit my question/s.

And that is this: What colognes do you ladies prefer that men wear? What are the ones you like or dislike, or perhaps love or even hate? Here's a list of the ones I own, as well as a couple I really detest.

Nautica - This is by far my favorite cologne, the one on my dresser which undeniably sees the most use. It's a light, airy cologne which doesn't overpower the nostrils. As with many of the lighter colognes I find this one's scent wears off after 3-4 hours and is almost undetectable after 6. When folks are looking for cologne I typically will point them towards the closest bottle of Nautica. :D

Nautica Competition - When my wife Laura and I first got married I only had 2-3 uses left of my 2nd bottle of Nautica and would only use it for the most special of occasions. Seeing my dilemma my wife said "Oh, I'll get you another bottle". She went to the store and got me what she thought was the same thing. It turns out that NC is a very good cologne. It retains the light airiness of regular Nautica but makes it a little bit stronger. There's the slightest hint on musk in it, but not enough to throw you off. This was a pleasant surprise! This one also stays around for several hours longer than the base stuff.

Farenheit - This is a Christion Dior product and is by far the most distinctive cologne I possess. There is a sweet musk scent about it and something else I've never been able to put my finger on. It is very fragrant and always gets comments. Alas, the stuff is expensive and I'm down towards the very last of my bottle, despite my careful husbanding of what's there. :( The scent will last on me for 3-4 hours, after which it largely dissipates.

Cool Water - I first saw this at the mall in the early 1990's and after giving it a whiff was sold. Like Nautica it's a light, airy scent (notice a pattern here of what I like? ;)) ) that's noticeably sweeter than the former. Bear in mind that when I say "sweet" I do not mean "overpowering". This is a reliable cologne that the wife very much likes. Scent dissappears after about 4 hours. For the record, if you can't find a bottle of this Polo Sportis a perfectly suitable substitute...they smell almost identical to me.

Drakkar Noir- This Guy Laroche cologne is what really made them famous, sort of their first real big hit. The scent is musky with woody hints throughout. This is "manly man" cologne (which may beg the question as to why I'm wearing it ;)) ). I've only got one more use in my little bottle and it's time to buy a fresh one. The wife goes bonkers over this stuff. This is as close to Brut as I dare come. ;)) Scent lasts a fairly typical 3-4 hours. Many guys will have a bottle of this somewhere.

Obsession for Men - This is from Calvin Klein and is the most expensive cologne I have. It also sees the least use. The scent is fragrant, bordering on feminine in some ways (it fits in a very grey area between perfume and cologne, in my opinion) and it is only a hint of musk that prevents it from being fully so. This stuff is strong and the scent clings to you like white on rice for up to 12 hours. My bottle, originally purchased in 1992, is still half full which only makes it more concentrated...I simply do not go to functions of the type that would require me to wear such a scent.

And now for two of my least favorites...

Polo - Ralph Lauren's iconic cologne is in many cases the first cologne men will use. I got my first bottle in my late teens and every young man at high school wore Polo as a sign of...uh...sophistication I guess ;)). As a result Polo was in my nostrils at almost all times and there came a point where I grew very tired of it. It reeks to me now, and whenever I smell it on another guy I automatically think "amateur" ;)). It's very musky and leathery with some sweetness in the background, but the must overwhelms all the rest. Great for the starting cologne wearer but just unholy to wear as an adult.

Joop! - A revolting scent by Homme (which I pronounce "Homie", like "what up, homie?"). Oh, how I want to rail against this one! Of all the colognes I've sampled in my 37 years this one is the one I find the most offensive. It is downright repugnant stuff. It's supposed to be fruit and musk scents combined, but what it comes out smelling like is smearing yourself with rotten grape corpses. In fact if you want an idea of how it smells go find a stinkbug (those annoying bugs you find on your screen windows in the middle of summer that secrete that disgusting sicky-sweet scent)...the two odors are indistinguishable. When I hear about women swooning over this smell I honestly have terrible misgivings about the ultimate course and destination of humanity. Yuck.

Well, there it is! Let me know what you ladies think and if you have any suggestions for colognes. It's almost time to go restocking! :)

I actually prefer guys wear no cologne. I never wear perfume. There's just something fake about it. Idk. Plus it gives me headaches :p . And I'm allergic to most scented things like that but if I had to choose one probably Nautica :) . My grandfather wears that one sometimes, and it smells rather nice for a cologne ;) .

[Cool Waters] is a reliable cologne that the wife very much likes.

Davidoff -Cool Waters is the cologne my dad wears, and we (his three daughters, one wife and not sure how my brother feels) all love it. Maybe just because it smells like Dad, but it's just a really nice (there's that generic adjective again, sorry) fragrance! :)

I'm surprised you didn't mention CK. My second choice would be Calvin Kleins 'be' -how very expressive. ;) But it's very similar to Cool Waters, only more, uh, manly? Maybe an evening scent, black tie event type smell. B-)

My grandpa (sorry, I associate cologne with the men in my life -and my sister, who occasionally steals Dad's CK) wears a really amazing scent, I think it's called English Blazer, Old Blazer or something that has to do with a blazer, which, by default would have something to do with being English. It's really nice, cool and not sweet in the least. I love it. :D

I also have to say I like a good whiff of Hugo Boss' Boss. Only thing is I'm not sure if it's a men's or women's fragrance -hopefully the latter, because I sometimes wear it.

Another scent I like, which is not a classy cologne at all, would have to be Africa by Lynx (shockingly stupid ads, though). 8-|

So in answer to shadowlander's query/statement/post; I think I prefer cooler scented scents on men, with that bit of musk -as opposed to the sweeter kinds (why?!) or terribly-in-your-nose masculine kinds (thankfully I don't write scent descriptions for a living, I'd likely be broke). #:-s

On women, I like (surprisingly) Glo, by JLO (whoever named that should be sent back to school) and Lovely, by Sarah Jessica Parker. Spears' Fantasy was a huge hit when it came out, and I do like the smell -just not the hype 8-} -so sometimes I boycott it, other times I'll forget and just wear it. hehe.

EDIT: That's an interesting position you have on cologne, Glenstorm the Great. I suppose it's healthier without these chemicals on your skin, but they do smell so good.

Wow, this thread is suddenly hopping!

SL, I have to say I think it's pretty cool that you such good taste in cologne(is it ever called "fragrence" if its for men?) (Calvin Klein, Dior)! :D

I'm not really familair with colognes and all that since my brother doesn't wear any (and refuses to wear any, even tho I keep giving him samples of stuff from Sephora :P ) and nor does my Dad. I haven't actually smelt any of these, but I like to think Calvin Klein, Dior, Prada, D&G would all be good, trustworthy brands. :P (And I like the woman's fragrences from them too)
I think I probably prefar the more musky/deep/ colognes on guys then the lighter "airy" ones. (like SM said, if I had to write perfume descriptions for a living, I'd be broke ;)) )

I'm surprised you didn't mentioned Axe, SL. That has got to be the most repulsive scent EVER. And teenage boys seem to just pile it on! My cousin was bemoaned the fact that her locker at school was in between two guy's and between classes they would rush out and spray more Axe on. 8-}

I think I have a pretty strong nose, as in I don't get "sick" or headaches from strong scents very easily. Or maybe I just don't like "cheap" scents. :-s

My favorite fragrences for woman are thus: (and I have like a gazillion of those little sample vials so I'm pretty familair with them)

This is my only full-size fragrance...I just realized it was limited edition and is no longer available (thankfully I have a good amount left)! It was expensive, but that sort of comes with the territory. It's Eau d'ete Summer by Issey Miyake, and I STILL haven't been able to pronounce properly any of that. I really really like it, it's a perfect summer scent, very floraly, smells like a huge boquet of flowers. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that I can sometimes smell hints of lily of the valley in it...not just your usual generic "floral" scent.

I have a couple of samples of this one (I'm PRETTY sure its this one, definetly this designer) http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.j ... oryId=4116 It has a really strong vanilla scent, and I just love it. :D

I didn't expect to like this one, but I also have a little vial of it and I really like it. I can't really describe the scent except to say that I like it (how pathetic is that!) http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.j ... yId=C13030

This one is quite nice too, but I don't love it as much as the others:
http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.j ... oryId=1070 Sometimes I think that after I've had it on for a while the scent doesn't smell so nice...not horrible, but not as good as I thought at first.

Calvin Klein Euphora (and Euphora Blossom) for women is quite nice, very blossomy and just...nice. It was one of the first fragrences I decided I really liked (by sniffing those strips in magazines). Oh, and same with clinique Happy (it really does smell "happy" :P).

Coco Chanel and Chanel Mademoselle are okay...they're sort of the "cult classic" but they are REALLY strong. Not for the faint of heart :-s I sometimes use them but I prolly wouldn't buy a full sized bottle.

My cousin has a bottle of the DKNY Be Delicous (Spl?) scent...the one shaped like a green apple. She really likes it, and the few times I've tried it I really like it as well. :)

I'm afraid to say, Mattette (spl?) that I rather can't stand Glo by JLo (ditto on the comment about how horrible that name is!), or anything by Britney Spears In general I'm not a fan of celebrity scents. Some of the time I think they do actually go to the perfume-making-factory (or whatever it's called) but some of them I don't really think have that much input. One that I do know had a great deal to do with the making of their fragrence is the Victoria & David Beckham fragrence/colognes...

Anyways...loooong rambly post there!

New topic : Have any of you girls tried gel/artificial nails? I know you can get expensive gel nails at salons and all, but I always see those packages of fake nails at WalMart and wonder about trying them...my nails are short, I've bitten them forever, and I doubt I could ever stop (I've tried several times to no avail). Thoughts?

EDIT:
eep, sorry! Just thought of something else to post while I was here. ;))
I just got this eyeshadow pallete--I discovered it last Christmas when my cousin got it and I fell in LOVE with it. The colors are brilliant, (the one in the top far right is soooo gorgeous!), and they are highly pigmented. They stay on pretty well. It comes with some eyeshadow primer that's supposed to be really good, although I haven't tried it yet. http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.j ... goryId=B70

I'm surprised you didn't mentioned Axe, SL. That has got to be the most repulsive scent EVER.

*coughs* Um...actually I do have a single, small can of Axe. Bear in mind that there's umpteen varieties of the stuff and I only ever warmed to one called "Orion", which I don't think they even make anymore. Scent-wise it's as close to Cool Water as any of that comes. I use body spray on occasion, but not often, especially since my can of Axe Orion is almost out. I use my wife's nose as a barometer for colognes and sprays like that...if she likes it then it's cool. ;)) The rest of the Axe line is pretty atrocious, by and large, I must admit. Why would a man want to smell like chocolate or cinnamon?

eew those scents sound gross! It's like peanut butter lip gloss /:) 8-| :p

SM: yes the chemicals are harsh and not very healthy for you. Actually most colognes/perfumes are not good for you at all. Anything you put on your skin is soaked in to your body. So the cream, makeup, pefume, etc that you put on you body should be pretty much edible. We buy a lot of stuff from an Australian company called Melaleuca. They're all natural and my brother has gotten in to my lotions several times and actually consumed them but he had no reaction b/c the ingridients in them are organic. Just a little tidbit- I'm a little bit of a health nut ;) .

I don't do much with my hair except wash it every two-three days and straighten it. As far as makeup goes I use covergirl. I don't wear a lot because I dislike looking unnatural. I cant stand unnatural looks. So I use powder, little blush on my cheekbones and nose, light brown eyeshadow, little eyeliner and a natural red lipstick and that's pretty much it.
