Wow, it's sure fun to read all this!
My username also has a long story behind it. I am the youngest in my family of six. My two older sisters and I lived (and still do) in one room. In the evenings I would get bored so I would hide from them. But to make sure they would look for me I would leave notes around the room telling them to look for me. After some time I got bored of writing my name (Dasha), and decided to shorten it to DeDe. So I wrote "Try to find me, DeDe." When my sisters found it they laughed for a long time, and the name stuck. Since then my sisters call me DeDe or De. And since it has become my nickname so I decided to use it as my username.

Whoa, great idea, FK!!
I love reading all the backgrounds! A lot of them are super cool!
Mine's not too creative really. It's simple, too. My dad manages a Christian youth camp so naturally that makes me a.....
campgirl!
That's all there is to it. I sometimes wish I had chosen some other username but in the end, I'm pretty happy with it.

Well, my username is pretty simple, but the story behind it...mmm mmm. ( ) I first joined Narniaweb a very very long time ago, after stumbling in through the Wardrobe Door--quite literally, actually, since I was linked to the costuming site first. Once I discovered that there was a forum attached to it, I joined the forum...and spent a while debating over what username I would use.
I wanted something sort of normal, that would blend in, so I chose Lady Arwen. At that point, Lord of the Rings was still incredibly fangurled over, so I figured it would be too hard to blend in. Plus, I did quite like LOTR. (Interesting factoid: my favorite character is NOT Arwen. It is Goldberry, and I almost used that as a username instead. But I didn't.) I've considered following EtJ's route and shortening my username to Lady A, since I get called that quite regularly, but I think I would be somewhat jealous if someone else joined and took my username.
Oh, yes, and to show my denseness, I originally thought that the costuming section was the only part of the forum. It took me several months to discover there was more of the forum.

Basically, I couldn't think of anything Narnian. I'd been called Sparky once or twice before, it was easy to type, and I liked the sound of it. So Sparky it is.
*is slightly embarassed he doesn't have a more elaborate backstory*
Mark my words, someday I will think of something brilliant to put in my sig.

Wow, I'm glad you discovered the rest of the forum! Otherwise we might never have gotten to know you... Where would we be without you as a moderator?
Katana, that's very interesting about your username, too! It's a beautiful name.
Sparky, how did you get to be called that those couple times?

It is so interesting seeing how everyone got their usernames... I've been keeping up with this thread to read everyone's explanations.

Oh, I thought you intentionally named yourself after the sword! I assumed you were a fan of Japanese weapons. That's cool to know you came up with it on your own!

Ooh! Fun thread!
My name comes from HHB, last chapter:
. . . and the poet sang the great lay of Fair Olvin and how he fought the Giant Pire and turned him into stone (and is the origin of Mount Pire - it was a two-headed giant) and won the fair Lady Liln for his bride
I had been lurking for months before I joined. I knew I wanted a Narnian name, but the multitudes of Susan, Lucy, and Jill based names were something I wanted to avoid, so I went with this username. On the old forum, there was already a "Lady Liln" so I had to "settle" for "~Lady Liln~." When we switched to this the forum, the Squiggles (~) had to leave and I became "Lady_Liln." The Squiggles have had quite a life for themselves though, traveling the world since their retirement.

Aslan's mane, this is really interesting! I liked reading how you all got your usernames. Well I didn't make my own username up. Shocking, I know . My friend thought up of it. One day, we were talking about Narnia, then she said how much I "resembled" Caspian X, so she started calling me the eleventh. If you know much about me and my life, then yes, you'd probably agree. Otherwise you'll think this was stupid and laugh. But I'm not related to Caspian X, and I don't think anyone is, except Liliandil, Rilian, Tirian, and so on...
Anyways, I really liked that name and gotten used to being called that so therefore I used it as my username . Interesting story, I know .
Don't be afraid to stand up for what you believe in.
I just want this whole Suspian and Lispian "conflict" to STOP!!! It's been TWO YEARS, GUYS!!!
And I love the "Orc" translation.
Had I known, I would have thought twice about that username ... maybe.
Really, it's nothing that epic
Still quite the interesting story.
I sometimes wish I had chosen some other username but in the end, I'm pretty happy with it.
It works for you. Stick around for a while and we would not want it any other way.
The Squiggles have had quite a life for themselves though, traveling the world since their retirement.
I think I may have seen them passing by Whakaari Island. We do miss the Squiggles.
Any idea where Tirian's name comes from?
“Safe?” said Mr. Beaver; “don’t you hear what Mrs. Beaver tells you? Who said anything about safe? ‘Course he isn’t safe. But he’s good. He’s the King, I tell you.”
Hmm...Middle-Earth maybe?
Oh, yes, the story of how I got my username. It's not that interesting. I first thought of choosing something along the lines of Arwen or Eowyn, but I didn't want to get mixed up with others who have those names so I chose Lady Galadriel. Besides, the character of Galadriel intrigues me.
Since then, I have seen other Galadriels about, but as far as I know I haven't been mixed up with them yet.
It is interesting to see how you all got your usernames. Especially the ones who are clearly Tolkien fans who, like myself, enjoy Narnia as well.
I guess you might have noticed that I am a Harry Potter fan. My user name comes from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, which I was reading when I last visited Wagga Wagga (also known as Wagga) for my graduation. I continued with my username on NarniaWeb when I first joined on 9th January, 2009. When you changed to a new message board the following September, I had to change my username slightly from its original Wagga Wagga Werewolf to WaggaWerewolf.

Hmm, well, I actually have a bit of a funny story behind my username. When the Lord Of The Rings movies were first coming out in theaters, my sisters and all their friends, and me and all my friends went through this fad where we all had to have hobbit names.
My oldest sister and her three friends were Frodo Baggins, Samwise Gamgee, Meriadoc Brandybuck, and Peregrin Took. She was Peregrin or Pippin. And so my other two sisters thought that it would be cool if we three girls took the names of Pippin's three sisters, Pervinca, Pearl, and Pimpernel. My two other sisters took Pervinca and Pearl and I was left with Pimpernel.
I have nothing against the flower, but the name isn't the nicest. People tend to poke fun of you when you have a nickname like Pimpernel. So, with the help of Winty (WinterStar) and a few other girls, I came up with my own hobbit name. It wasn't really my own.
I chose the name of the 11th child, the youngest daughter, of Samwise Gamgee. It wasn't too hard to find, in the Appendix of the RotK book. And Ruby was the perfect name, because Ruby is my birthstone. I was born in July. And my best friend, Winty, had the hobbit name Elanor Gamgee. Technically, Elanor was 24 years older than Ruby, which was a little strange, but we avoided the technicalities and I adopted the name.
My friends still call me "Ruby" sometimes. And I like the nickname. When I joined NarniaWeb, I really couldn't think of anything else clever. So I just stuck with the name Ruby Gamgee.

Oh, ya'll survived before I came, so I'm sure you would have gotten along fine. Thanks for making me feel special, though.

I dunno, with those lashes in your avvy, you might be a geisha/samurai cross. I know people like that... Honestly, though, when I first saw you on the forum, I thought "how cool is that...." Because, you know, hadhafang, Arwen's sword, is very close in design to a Katana, and I've always wanted one....
