I'm homeschooled and have been so all my life. I enjoy every bit of it. I especially love doing activities with my homeschool buddies.

It seems that alot of people use ACE, but does anyone use the Abeka dvd program? I personaly love it! The books are really great and well written. At least I think so.
I used the DVD program all through high school. I must say, I didn't love it. High school was not a good experience for me. Abeka is super duper hard (one of the hardest curriculums out there) and I would always get behind and then have to work all summer catching up (it was mostly my fault but I think it would have been better if I'd had an easier curriculum.) For example, I decided to take Abeka's Spanish program. I watched all the DVD's but I didn't do the tests or anything and it's not on my transcript. My mom went to a Christian school and her Spanish teacher took Abeka's Spanish 1 curriculum, cut it in half, and taught it in two years.
Also, their tests are harder. So basically (in America), the first half of a text book is taught during the first semester and the second half is taught during the second semester. So I asked my public schooled friends how their tests went. They told me that you have a final at the end of each semester and at the end of the first semester, you're tested over the first half of the book and at the end of the second semester, you're tested over the last half of the book. Abeka, however, has a final at the end of the second semester which is over the ENTIRE book. I've found that college is easier too. My Biology final is open book!
I like their text books but I honestly don't think that I'll use Abeka for my kids.
I have found that college is way easier and more fun than high school.
today was the end of my second week. I still can't believe that this will be my last year! wow! I have dreamed of my last year in school for years!
ME TOO. But I haven't quite wrapped my brain around it yet - I think that I'm going to graduate and then be like, "Wait... whaaaat?!" To think that next year at this same time I'm going to be in university... scary thought! I wish I had another year to do high school courses though. I've already got too many courses this year, and there's still more I wish I could be doing
Nice poem, by the way. I like poems that rhyme.

I'm homeschooled and I really enjoy it
Do you guys get taught by your parents? (If not anymore, were you when you were younger? Or someone else).
When I was homeschooled, my mom taught me almost every subject during the day, and then my dad taught me math in the evenings. Ugh, I remember I would be playing somewhere in the house, but then my dad would call for me.. LoL
Well, since I used the DVD program, a teacher taught me. In elementary school, I was always a really good student and learned things pretty fast. So all our books explained things pretty well. My dad taught me long division, I remember. (After I finally got the hang of it, I would do long division for fun! I would take a sheet of notebook paper and I would write 5839203487657480912129324095867483920 divided by 6 or something like that so that the entire top of the sheet of paper was covered in the number and then do it!) My mom did teach me some stuff about math and my dad taught science in elementary school. And my mom taught me grammar.
My parents believed in the three R's until high school and that worked pretty well. My sister and I did some science in elementary school but only for a couple of grades.
You guys are homeschoolers? Me too! Well, I guess for only 3/5 of the time; I do a homeschooling program that lets me go to a school for two days of the week. My mom teaches me on the other days. I'm glad to know other homeschoolers are on here!
Welcome to Narniaweb ShastaFan. Almost everyone on here seems to be homeschooled!

The General: I am homeschooled by my mom. she homeschooled my two brothers and my sister before me and she does all of the subjects with us. my dad goes to work and he doesn't do any of the actual homeschooling. we joke that he's the "fun person" because he basically takes us on 'field trips'

I think it varies where you live and what program you're doing... for example, in British Columbia, you have two options for homeschooling - you can either be a registered homeschooler, or you can be an enrolled homeschooler. Registered homeschoolers get $100 per registered child from the Ministry of Education and the parents have complete control of what the homeschooler is learning and what sort of curriculum and lessons are bought with the money. As an enrolled homeschooler you get $1000 per enrolled child but you have to have a teacher who you report to every week and the funding money is limited to more precise things and you're not technically considered a homeschooler anymore, you're considered a homelearner. My siblings are enrolled homeschoolers, so they have a teacher to report to, but my mom basically does all the teaching anyway. It's confoozling. I'm with an online school this year - I'm doing all my school at home but I don't think I'm really technically considered a homeschooler anymore.

^^ yeah, same here! we are registered in a school somewhere out in Texas (far away from us ) who keep track of our records and we do it all at home. I am a senior and I have never done any schooling online, though I would have liked to try that, but oh well, I don't mind.
