Spoiler

The Fiendfyre scene, Snape's Death, Snape's memories montage, Forest scene, and King's Cross scene were all spot on in my opinion, just as I had imagined them.
I love McGonnagal and Neville even more now. Neville was just epic, and I thought it was really funny when he was standing on that bridge with the mob of Death Eaters staring him down.

Spoiler
Ditto! It's so much fun to have a scene look JUST like you've imagined.
I really loved Neville as well, though I was sad that he didn't say his famous line: "I'll join you when HELL freezes over!" I wish he had said that and cut off Nagini's head right away like he did in the book, rather then having the whole drawn-out snake chase thing. Ugh. ;))

I loved the bit with him standing on the bridge, though. Also the scene when he brings Harry, Ron, and Hermione into Hogwarts.

I hope to go in for a second time sometime this week, so I can really get my thoughts together.

you are right. The final movie after all. I knew it'd be big, but it's still surprising to see this much.

Thoughts are swirling around in my mind after viewing the final movie just now.

First thoughts: Alan Rickman and Helena Bonham-Carter are both excellent actors.

I felt Snape's pain as I watched his memories, his pure, unbridled pain when Lily died. I cried-- just tears streaming down my face.

Yes, so I saw the movie a few days ago, and I loved it! It even had me crying at parts (and I have never cried during a movie before.) Overall I thought it was a beautiful end to the series.
However I do have post-Potter depression. :( The fact that the series is ending is bitterweet.

I feel a little disloyal to say this but I felt much more energy and excitement with this group than with the first showing of VDT (although I was in a play the first two nights VDT showed

Hey don't worry. You're not being disloyal. ;) After seeing the movie, I actually did think of Narnia for awhile and wished that the Narnia movies could get such a strong reaction. Then again, an excellent film should be produced first. ;) Announcement of new Narnia film would cure my post-Potter depression though.

I can't wait to see Part 2 again. :D How many of you saw it in 3D?

I still haven't seen it as I'm waiting to go to the IMAX (3-D!). I should be seeing it sometime next week. I appreciate everyone putting their detailed thoughts of the film inside spoiler blocks. :)

According to Box Office Mojo, this film is up to nearly half a billion dollars within 100 hours of its release.

Last night I saw Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 with some friends. I didn't think the movie was the best of the series but it was very good. The quiet moments of drama were brilliant. Standout actors were Alan Rickman and Maggie Smith but Daniel Radcliffe also stepped up his game. The movie had a consistent dark tone throughout, not unlike the book, but there was some welcome humour. I found one scene incredibly intense & violent but it was also true to the book and probably one of my favourite bits of the movie. There was some good action but the rest seemed poorly staged and wasn't very exciting or interesting (but at least it was purposeful). The movie wasn't as suspenseful as the book, nor as detailed, but it was still good quality. A worthwhile finale to a great series. 8/10

I saw it last night. It was only the most epic thing I've ever seen.... :]

The film was really great. It gave just enough time to grieve over characters lost, although I would have appreciated more, particularly for Fred, Tonks and Remus. But it managed the time well. Two things I begrudge against the film: 1. there was no explanation whatsoever of Dumbledore's family - of Aberforth and Arianna, only that Albus 'sacrificed' her for his magical pursuits. I wish there had been more told of that story.

2. Also, I was sorely disappointed with the Harry/Ginny romance. It was barely tolerable in Half Blood Prince and even in DH Part 1, but this one was so just SO awkward. Ugh. I had to look away. Dx

Other than that it was an excellent and brilliant conclusion to the Harry Potter series. :]

With inflation, Star Wars still beats it. The attendance was larger for those, and according to BOM - even if you take out re-releases, Star Wars would still trump Potter in attendance. Now that's something! But congrats to Harry. :)

I'm pretty sure I know which scene you're talking about. I found that whole section very "intense," as you put it. When people ask me what I think of Harry Potter: DHP2, I tell them to take Kleenex and be prepared to cry, specifically for the scenes that started here. I bawled like a baby both times I saw the movie.

The movie wasn't as suspenseful as the book, nor as detailed, but it was still good quality.

My best friend's husband and I talked about this at great length after the movie. There were some definite differences between book and movie, but most I could live with.
