Lots of Harry Potter news going on!
I watched the final trailer when it came out, and was honestly less than impressed. It just didn't get me going, aside from the bit with Lily, Sirius and Harry.
Pottermore looks moderately exciting, though I'll have to hear more about it to decide what I think. Did anyone sign up?
July 15th is getting so close!
I'm getting pretty excited for the last movie! I've got my ticket for Harry Potter Marathon, where they will be showing all 8 movies in a row at the cinema, with the 8th starting at 12:01 on the 15th, of course. I honestly am feeling very nostalgic, excited, anxious, sad, and joyful! My childhood is coming to a fitting end I'm going to try and scrounge up 15 bucks so I can buy a Slytherin tie to wear to the event, and I'll be cutting a makeshift wand so after the last movie is over I can hold my wand up high and shout "Mischief Managed!" Ahhhhh I'm going to lose my mind in a couple of weeks
Speaking of Pottermore, I think it looks very cool. I'm going to try and work on a few essays about the philosophy of Harry Potter, maybe there will be a venue to post them on Pottermore, and if not, no harm done. Whatever it is, I trust that JK will not let us down.

Holy Cow!!! And I thought LotR (extended edition) marathons were long. I hope the cinema has VERY comfy reclining seats....And plenty of Coffee to keep you awake.
I'll be taking a more sedate approach: I'll watch a Potter DVD each evening prior to the release. I started rereading the series (for the zillionth time) about a month ago, and I have just finished DH. So I'm well prepared.
I'll be elated to see the final chapter onscreen, but I'll be bummed knowing that there will be no more to come. But Rowling's introduction to her Pottermore site suggests that there may be a bit more story (filling in the "blanks") to come in some fashion, as well as the encyclopedia she's been promising for a long time.

I am not going to the midnight showing anymore because I always wanted to watch the last movie with one of my friends and her mum won't let her come. Going to watch it the next day anyway.

Hey, mate! Missed you around here
That's what I did for the release of DH part one. I wish I had time to reread the series again quick, I think I'll try but I'll probly have to skip Order of the Phoenix and possibly HBP. HBP is my favorite of them all, though, so we'll see. If not, I have forever to enjoy them so it's all good
Sorry if this counts as extreme fandom, but I am just so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You aren't alone in your extreme fandom, don't worry! I've been daily announcing to the family my Harry Potter countdown until the last film...."15 more days!"...."13 more days!"
Speaking of....12 MORE DAYS!
I can't believe in 12 days, my childhood will be all over. It sounds harsh and nonsensical but I feel like this means the official end of my childhood. I'm 19 and I'll be 20 in September. I feel like this film is going to be the nail in the coffin.
I know for a fact I am going to cry in the theaters. Not just for some of the emotional scenes (like "Harry in the forest"), but because this really is the end of a stage in my life.

OH MY GOODNESS. I am getting so excited right now! The attendance for my Potter Party has risen to sixteen or seventeen people, including myself. Ahhh!!!
For my party, I wanted to play Quidditch in my yard, but I wasn't entirely sure how to do the hoops. So I walk into my local hardware store hoping to find something, and a see a bucket of butterfly nets labeled "5 for $5". I was like . Yeah. So we walked out of there with six butterfly nets. (The clerk joked that we were going to catch all the butterflies in town, haha!) I'm going to take the netting out of them and figure out how to mount them so they're tall enough to throw a ball through. I'm pretty proud of myself.
Today, me and four of my friends went running around all over town today, looking for things to add to our costumes. I found an awesome Ravenclaw-looking tie and a blouse to wear - still looking for a skirt! And maybe some crazy glasses because I'm going as Luna.
Ahh, this is going to be so awesome! I'll be sure to share pictures with you guys.

Hey, I'm 20, and I don't really feel like an adult Then again, what you said really makes me wish I had read HP from the very beginning. It would have made the end so much more special! My parents were one of those that thought it was "bad"..I think it was around when I was 15 or 16 that I read some of the books, wasn't crazy about them, then discovered the movies when I was 17 and have been a HUGE fan ever since!

I think HP is more action than Christian. All books now are about the kids whose lives suddendly change and they must defeat someone who wants to kill them. I loved HP when I was younger. Now I like it but I don't support the idea of the last film. Many young children watched other films and now it's going to be the film for late teens. I really want it to be filmed but those children, like me, will must left it at the best moment. If a child browses for its trailers and finds the very late one, showing the early stages of the battle ( tearing forcefield) , he or she will be scared and not wanting to watch it. But it's also going to be badly rated in some countries which rate by suitable age because of separating the story in two. And now the world will ruin for those kids. But I support an idea of Pottermore.

Your post makes no sense. Can you please try explaining that again?

I agree that the last movies are made for teens and older, but it's the same with the books! All the books are written to the age that Harry is (i.e. 1 is written for 11 year olds, 7 is written to 17 year olds). I don't mean that's the age that will most enjoy the books, but the issues discussed and the level of writing is pretty much perfect as far as that goes. Just because children enjoy some of the movies doesn't mean they won't/can't/shouldn't enjoy the others, even if they have to wait until they're older.
And I too feel as this is the end of my childhood. I turn 18 about a month after the movie comes out, too, so it really is the end.

It is the same with me. I have grown up with Harry Potter. It does feel like the end of my childhood in a way.
The thing with Harry Potter is that the story started out for young children and slowly grew darker and more mature, becoming more suitable for teens/adults. However I, like many of my friends, started reading the books/watching the movies as a child and have grown up as the movies/books were released. So it worked out well for this generation I guess .
I also agree with Andrew that children don't have to read and/or watch all of them.

Yes. Warrior4Jesus , the books started like a normal story for children and teens. But when they ( those from the books) started to grow up and realize how much depends on them, each book is for older children. Books were easy to take by young children but if they watch the films, they see the darkness of the story. And the finale will be epic. If you've seen the trailer, you know what does it mean. They wanna present Voldemort's power in its entire glory.

On the posters it's written that it all ends. Here it sounds exactly like Aslan's final line in LWW. I think that it stays with us- Narnia and memories of Harry. It will never get old.
