That sounds amazing, Whit! I was thinking of doing something like that to celebrate the release of Deathly Hallows Part 2, but unfortunately I don't think there'll be enough time with what I have planned. I really want to have a party...we'll decorate my house to look like Hogwarts, eat various HP-related foods, watch a movie or two, and play Quidditch in my backyard.
I've been on a bit of a HP fan streak ever since I got to visit Harry Potter World at Universal Studios back in February. (It was really cool, by the way! And at the time of year we went, the crowds really weren't that bad! I know people who went over spring break who said it was crazy-crowded then.) I'm in the process of rereading all seven books, and at the moment, I'm almost done with the sixth one.
I also got to watch DH part 1 on Friday when it came out! It looks really nice in Blu-ray. Upon watching the bonus features, I was very excited to see that some of the scenes from the book that were missing from the movie were actually filmed! Including

I just got the blu ray this weekend! I was very excited to watch the film again. I haven't checked out the bonus features yet, but I'll post my thoughts on them once I watch them.

Silver the Wanderer, I'm so jealous you got to go to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter!!!! I want to go sooooo bad! I have a friend going in 2 weeks while shes in Flordia for a big dance competition and I can't even say how jealous I am! I may give her money to buy me a shirt or something
back on topic .... having a Quidditch game would be an awesome attachment to the party, but my backyard is pretty small
I'm glad both you and Valiant, enjoyed seeing the movie again!

I just wanted to comment on how I like the packaging for the blu ray combo pack. It had the "hubs" for the disks. I wish they had done the same for VDT.
georgiefan1, I think I'll try to do a marathon as well! I don't know if I could do it all in one sitting though. Tell me how it goes for you.

I love snape and black for soem reason they are my fav chacters followed luna. I might get around to reading the last 2 books.
finished the Marathon, it took 26 hours
we start the first movie at about noon (California time on Monday). I planned starting at about 10:30 but one of the girls had to come later than planned.
we watch 1-3 up to about 7:30(ish- I didn't check the exact time) when we decide to go for a walk because we felt gross from all the food we were eating. We get back at 8 and I HAD to watch Dancing with the Stars (I have an addiction to this show) so that took until 9- when we start the 4th movie.
the 4th and 5th movie take us to 2 AM (I was dead tired by that time) so we stop ther for the night to go to sleep.
I wake up at 8:45 and as we dicussed the night before I wake the other 2 up and finish the last 2 ending the 7th one at about 2 PM
so a tentative 26 hours, estimating without exact minutes or anything. But it was alot of fun

Teehee You should see if you can get a house scarf. I've got the Ravenclaw one (since I'm a Ravenclaw) and I pretty much just wear it around town, to school, etc. because I'm just cool like that.
And WOW, that sounds like an intense movie marathon! But it sounds awesome. I bet you want to see DH part 2 really bad now?

I don't usually participate in this thread, mainly due to the fact that I don't have the time (college will do that to you ). Any ways, I just had to post about something that our campus did last night!
They had advertised a showing of HP-DH1, and I really wanted to go. So I waited in line outside of our campus cinema (which is in our student union). As we go in, they stamp our hand. They also have a sorting hat (which looked remarkably like the real thing!), and a bucket full of stickers. As we walked in, everybody got to pick out a sticker and we were "sorted" into houses. I, of course, got sorted into Ravenclaw (every FB quiz, every book quiz, every online quiz I've ever taken has put me into the same house. . .).
Any ways, they have the whole place decorated! There are banners for all of the houses, and cardboard movie cutouts of the characters with which you could take your picture, and, of course, FOOD! They had chocolate frogs, cauldron cakes, pumpkin pasties, popcorn, and butterbeer. The butterbeer and chocolate frogs were to DIE for! At any rate, I went over to the "Ravenclaw Common Room," which was basically just a table with one of the union representatives behind it. She welcomed me to Ravenclaw and gave me a ravenclaw lanyard. After that, she asked me if I wanted to participate in the trivia challenge. I said that I did, and so I was asked two preliminary questions. I had to name 4 of the 7 horcruxes, and all of the triwizard students. After that, I was officially entered into the drawing to see if I would represent Ravenclaw.
I met some other fans and started talking with them (even though both of them were Slytherins!!!). All the while, they've got the soundtracks for HP blaring over the speakers, making it have a very Hogwartish feel. About twenty minutes before the movie started, the sorting hat was brought forward and it announced (via a guy using a microphone and a funny voice ) who was going to represent the houses, and believe it or not, I got called up on stage!!! I was so excited!
My fellow Ravenclaw and I were amongst the other houses. First to five points won. The questions I can remember were:
What is Ron's Favourite Quidditch Team
What is Hermione's Patronus
Who uses polyjuice potion to turn into Vincent Crabbe
What is the first Christmas gift that Hagrid gives to Harry
What is the name of the school which Fleur Delacour attends
I can't remember the others .
At any rate, Ravenclaw came in second (pesky Gryffindoors!!!) but we got second pick of the prizes! I got an actual replica of a Gryffindoor scarf. After getting over the initial shock that Ravenclaw had once again been overlooked, I really appreciated how the student union activity board had gone all out for this event.
After this, they showed the movie. . . which was awesome as usual.
At any rate, it was a magnificent way to spend the evening, and I just thought I'd share that with y'all.

That sounds like so much fun! At my college, they never really had anything like that, sadly. Hmmm, after looking at some of the questions, I'm ashamed to say that I only knew 3 off the top of my head (and I call myself a Harry Potter fan!) I too am anxiously awaiting HPDH2. I think it's the film that I am most looking forward to this year Am especially excited to see certain characters finally meet their downfall!
Wrong will be right when Aslan comes in sight / At the sound of his roar, sorrows will be no more / When he bares his teeth, winter meets its death / And when he shakes his mane, we shall have spring again
I probably should have included the answers
What is Ron's Favourite Quidditch Team
What is Hermione's Patronus
Who uses polyjuice potion to turn into Vincent Crabbe
What is the first Christmas gift that Hagrid gives to Harry
What is the name of the school which Fleur Delacour attends

is this confiremed?
Last March, JRK said there'd be an 8th Harry Potter book to be completed by the end of 2011. Well, we have now been told that the star of said follow-up books might not be Harry or any of his children.
JRK has, in a press release to be BBC, that a different, perhaps unexpected character may very well be the subject of these sequels:
"Harry's had enough in his life already" so "it's time to center in on Dudley Dursley, Harry's cousin, and his family. He's been shoved aside as a Muggle, but as the new generation of Hogwarts students arrive, there'll be more room for him in the plot – especially with another Hogwarts acceptance letter in the family."
No specifics yet as to whether Dudley's son, to be called Dunstable, is a half-blood or a muggleborn, but JRK has hinted that he very well might be attending Hogwarts alongside his cousins James, Albus, and Lily. It is also currently unknown if this 'Dunstable' story is a multi-novel series, or if this '8th' book will be made into a film after it's published.<
Um. . . I highly doubt it. There are a few things that make me doubt its validity. For one, the author's initials are JKR, not JRK. Second, JK Rowling has said several times in several interviews that the Harry Potter series is done.
Chances are this was published on April Fools Day.

it was posted in apirl 2010 but 22nd not apirl fools day. It was on a couple of websites but it was probalay a joke that each website got from the original.
