Well not the epilogue but the last fight between Voldemort and Harry Potter.
Wow, that's really interesting. Why did it seem so anti-climatic to you? The ending wasn't anything like I expected (it felt really rushed, for one thing), but I still loved it. Harry going off into the forest to let Voldemort kill him was also quite an unexpected twist.
The epilogue didn't bother me that much, either, though I know quite a few people who disliked it. I really loved this little part: "Albus Severus," said Harry quietly, "you were named for two headmasters at Hogwarts. One of them was a Slitherin... and he was probably the bravest man I ever knew."

The epilogue was fine and well-intentioned but the names don't have any flow to them. That's my grievance.
I don't think the ending was rushed just different.

DH was the only one I didn't like. Its started great, but the ending was a was unsatisfactory. Voldermort had been written as this amazingly evil character, but in the end, he was just too careless. And the writing wasn't as good. I wish Snape's death had been more epic as well. He deserved to go out with a BANG!
Nonetheless, I am excited for the movie!!! VDT and Harry Potter this winter! Its a dream come true.

No, sorry, I can't agree. The ending was fine to me, and my favourite book of the series. After all the guessed endings the fans predicted, or critics anticipated JKR should write, it managed to be original and different from what most people expected. I loved the Kings Cross scene and finding out about Snape and Lily. It seems that in JKR's world, that it isn't until after people have died that the truth about them finally emerges. And as for carelessness, ignorance and laziness being the villain's downfall, why not? Isn't Sloth just as deadly a sin as Anger, Greed, and Jealousy? Doing what is easy rather than what is right?

I have to agree. Albus Severus is a fine name for Harry to give to his younger son. It was Harry's way of saying thank you for the efforts these men made on his behalf, whilst alive, to allow him to get to the point where he could have a younger son and a family at all.
I concur with Wagga and Miss Rosario . Though that won't surprise anyone who knows me. I think Potter is the best thing since sliced bread (or at least since Middle Earth and Narnia ).

If you recall, even Harry was a potential Slytherin. But remember, the Sorting Hat takes a person's own choice into consideration. So I doubt very much that young Albus Severus would end up in Slytherin. If anything, I would say young James has more Slytherin potential than Albus Severus.
And according to Sirius, it's very rare for immediate family members to end up in different houses as he and his brother did, (and the Patil twins too for that matter)

I think it'd be funny if one of Harry's kids ended up in Slytherin. Not that there's anything wrong with being in Slytherin.
I thought Voldemort's end was very appropriate for the character. He was contemptuous of Harry and all the other good characters despite being beaten by them again and again. For his arrogance to lead to his downfall seems a very apt fate for him.
So what did you all make of Harry's little speech? Is Albus Severus Potter headed for Slytherin? James must have seen something that looked like Slytherin characteristics in his brother for his teasing to get to him. And Al's initials are ASP, a type of snake.
I don't think Albus Severus is necessarily headed for Slytherin, but that little speech of Harry's was meant to reassure him if that is where he is sent. That as far as Harry is concerned, the world and his immediate family won't fall down in a heap and monumental Umbrage if the Sorting Hat sends him that way. Despite Ron's as usual less than sensitive comments about expecting his Rose to go into Gryffindor (but no pressure )

Possibly you are right. But I think the epilogue is one of those full circle moments where we are invited to compare that scene with a chapter at the beginning of the series, when Harry first goes to Hogwarts, himself. Even the characters are parallel. Lily Potter is so like her mother Ginny twenty six years previously, James not too different from Uncles Fred and George, whilst Albus is so like Harry, himself, in his uncertainties and vulnerability that no wonder Harry takes the time out to explain his own experiences.
At the beginning of the book series - not the films - Harry meets Draco in a Diagon Alley uniform shop. Draco, obviously well-connected and well-off, comments that all his family had been in Slytherin, which is where he expects to go himself. Harry takes an instant dislike to this budding pure-blood maniac, which is confirmed on the Hogwarts Express when Draco and bookends visit Harry and Ron, against whom an old family feud is reignited. Hagrid has also commented to Harry about the Dark Wizards that have come from Slytherin House. As an 11 year old Harry makes his own choices accordingly. But thirty years later, after a battle and much else, are those choices still valid, in the post Voldemort world?
And then there is Draco and his son Scorpius starting at the same time as Harry's and Ron's children. What did you think they learned about house affiliations meanwhile?
So what did you all make of Harry's little speech? Is Albus Severus Potter headed for Slytherin? James must have seen something that looked like Slytherin characteristics in his brother for his teasing to get to him. And Al's initials are ASP, a type of snake.
Hmm. I don't think James necessarily saw Slytherin characteristics in Albus, he just loved teasing and scaring his already frightened little brother. Also, as wagga mentioned above, Harry was reassuring Albus that it wasn't the end of the world if he did end up in Slytherin. Not everyone who came out of there was bad. True, it had a poor reputation, but--as Sirius said--"We've all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That's who we really are."
Those are interesting thoughts on the epilogue, wagga. I'd noticed the similarities between Harry and Albus as well as Lily and Ginny. Now that you mention it, James did seem a bit like the Weasley twins. I always thought him a bit like Harry's father as well--teasing, and full of fun.

Yes, James is definitely the sort of extroverted grandson that would have amused James, probably Sirius as well. And Uncle Fred, at any rate, would have got a kick out of being related to such a nephew, to be sure.
And according to Sirius, it's very rare for immediate family members to end up in different houses as he and his brother did, (and the Patil twins too for that matter)
Well Sirius ought to have known, since he defied his own family tradition to go into Gryffindor. Remember, Sirius, and his brother Regulus, were first cousins to Draco's mother Narcissa Malfoy, and her sisters, Andromeda Tonks and Bellatrix L'estrange.
But somehow I doubt it was as rare as one might think. Draco's little PS/SS speech at Madame Malkins, proclaiming that his family all went to Slytherin, kind of puts the reader off investigating Draco's statement too closely. Sirius, for one, rebelled against going to Slytherin, preferring to be with his new-found mate James than with scrawny, bossy Snape in Slytherin. He certainly didn't want to obey family tradition on his brother Regulus' account. And Draco's first cousin on his mother's side, Nymphadora Tonks, went into Hufflepuff. Perhaps Draco wouldn't have known about these family members who were blasted off the Black Family Tree.
What surprises me about the Patil twins is not that they would be in different houses, but that they remained such good friends with one another. Parvati even scouted out a Yule Ball partner for her sister. And when Hermione admitted to other DA member that she told the Sorting Hat she wanted to be in Gryffindor, not Ravenclaw, I really started to wonder why there was so much aggravation about Slytherin House and its pure-blood mantra? What do you make of the situation?
I probalay should geta roudn to reading the last book before the movie, i have read the first 2 and watched all the movies, I think i will just read book 7 since i already kinow what happens in the rest.

Yes, I generally prefer young women to have more hair but it suits her jaw-line and facial-structure. It makes her look both more mature and beautiful-looking. Wow. I almost sounded like I knew what I was talking about!
