It took me 50 years to write this post. No, seriously!
Hobbits, as I understand, have a habit of GIVING presents on their birthday in gratitude for being alive and having friends. Since a badger is also short, has hairy feet, and lives in the ground, I suppose I should too.
So remember the joy of being alive. When you are discouraged today remember that this great new network "The Internet" wasn't there for your folks when they were your age. Put it into perspective and smile.
Since I don't know your sweater sizes and I'm cheap, that's my gift to you.

Thank you dears! So far my day has been fantastic- the sun is shining (although, I'm more inclined to rain ), I've been able to get on here, my uncle is visiting, and my best friend and I talked on the phone for half an hour. It has been fantastic to be a part of such a wonderful community here on NWeb, so many people to meet and share interests with! Everyone is so wonderful! 
And, last but not least, Happy Birthday to EveningStar! It's always wonderful finding another person who I share a birthday with, and I hope that your day and year are really special and filled with blessings! Thank you for your message- putting things into perspective is something I have to do more often.
