I had a really good birthday. Relatives came over and we made cream cheese wontons, one of my favorite foods and one that requires a lot of people to make. (They weren't as good as ones from a restaurant would be but that was off the table this year.) If I were Edmund, I'd have asked for wontons instead of Turkish Delight. We also had cherry crisp, one of my favorite desserts.
Then we watched Mr. Monk's Last Case. Even though Monk is one of my favorite TV shows, I wasn't looking forward to the reunion movie that much. That is, I wanted to see it, but I also feared they wouldn't be able to recapture the magic after all these years and it would end up leaving me disappointed and wistful. I'm happy to say that wasn't the case here! It's a great movie albeit one you have to have seen the whole series to appreciate. I hadn't realized how much I'd been missing Andy Breckman's sense of humor. (He's the creator of Monk and the writer for the movie.) Several scenes had me shaking with laughter. And it had a really emotional ending too. (It's long been my dream to see Tony Shalhoub, who plays Monk, portray Puddleglum BTW.)
I also got a few birthday presents and between them and my Christmas presents, I got just about everything I was hoping to receive.
As great as my birthday was though, I'm feeling a little glum now. I'm really not where I wanted to be at this age. Every new year, I plan to make some progress in my life, but circumstances are always so contrary, and I always have so many other things to do that I'm always where I started by the end. Sorry to say that and end on a down note. I felt like confiding that in some people, and I don't want to make my social media friends, whom I know personally, worried about me. Thanks for the birthday wishes, everyone.
