God bless America, land that I love...
Yesterday we went to a friends house, had a barbecue, and stayed till midnight to see fireworks set off at the park nearby.
The city payed to have five para-gliders dropped from an airplane and land at the city celebration. They were towing a banner or flag each. They went right over our party! Really exciting!

The Value of myth is that it takes all the things you know and restores to them the rich significance which has been hidden by the veil of familiarity. C.S. Lewis
Indeed! Happy 4th of July, everyone! I hope you all have a wonderful fireworks display in store for you , and I hope that the next morning your neck does not hurt to no end.
USA, USA, USA!
I mean...
True religion is real living; living with all one's soul, with all one's goodness and righteousness.
I am not seeing the fireworks for fear of getting vertigo again.....I know it sounds like a lame excuse, but it's true.....

Just got back from my church's picnic. Now I am watching the "Freedom over Texas" broadcast. I recorded it so I could watch it when I got home. It is supposed to be the largest land based fireworks show in the continental U.S.. There are fireworks going on all around me at the moment and probably will continue for another couple of hours.
Edit: The ENTIRE Star Spangled Banner:
The Star Spangled Banner:
Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream:
'Tis the star-spangled banner! Oh long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion,
A home and a country should leave us no more!
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
God Bless America and the men and women in all military services everywhere. No matter the country of origin.
Happy 4th of July!! I didn't see much as I had to work today, but it was still fun.

Happy belated 4th! I had to work the whole night so any shot at watching fireworks went right out the window for me, but with any good fortune I'll get to see them next year. Hopefully I'll be able to fire up the grill tonight for a late 4th celebration.

Happy belated Fourth of July (Independence Day)! We didn't do anything special, but I did make patriotic cookies (flags, stars, the US, etc.).
I saw a very tacky decoration today - a huge inflated eagle with a body that was colored like the American Flag. Luckily we weren't looking at any houses near that one.
