"Noah" looks good but I've heard some worrying rumours about the direction they took (it's based on a French graphic novel, not the Bible.
I read the leaked script for Aronofsky's Noah several months ago. It will be a very interesting movie, but it takes several liberties from the Bible. Which is somewhat understandable as there aren't very many details to the story in the Bible to make a 2 hour movie.
My advice would be to view the movie as being "inspired" by the biblical story rather than a direct adaptation.
Winter Is Coming
I cannot wait for Catching Fire to come out on Friday. I'm probably going to see it 5 times while it's still out and of course I cannot wait for the new Hobbit film to come out too. We've all been waiting a full year for both of these films. Noah I may have to see as well and also Divergent. Haven't read the book yet because the story sounds a lot like Hunger Games so I'll just see the film.
Also I'm looking forward to the remake of Left Behind next year. I'm in a couple of scenes in the film and I'm very excited to be a part of it considering it's one of my favorite novels and favorite past film of all time.

Just saw a preview of "Alone Yet Not Alone". It's supposed to be a true story of colonists before the revolutionary war. It deals with the trials of some of the women who were captured by the Indians, and how their faith was tested.
I think it is set for release in March.
Has anyone heard of The Monuments Men? Its release has been bumped a time or two, but I believe it's supposed to come out February 7 now. It's about a group charged with rescuing and protecting art from the Nazis during WWII, and I believe is based off of a real group if not story. The "big" names attached to it are Matt Damon, George Clooney, and Cate Blanchett. It's not rated yet, but it certainly looks interesting.
Some days you battle yourself and other monsters. Some days you just make soup.
Valiant Archer, I have heard of that film! This past semester I took a course on the Holocaust and the professor briefly mentioned the issue of art, among other objects, under Nazi rule. I know there's a lot of controversy surrounding art and other possessions that were once owned by victims of the Holocaust that are now in museums or private collections. I just hope the movie is well done and stays true to history. I can't stand when historical films bend the facts.
As for the cast, I adore Matt Damon. I think he's a fantastic actor and hopefully this role will only continue support my beliefs. I'm not a huge fan of George Clooney, but I don't hate him either. Hopefully it'll be done well.
Has anyone heard of The Monuments Men?
That sounds interesting! Recently there was a trove of art discovered in a private collection in Germany that had been hidden during the Third Reich, it was a big political issue a few weeks ago. Good timing with the movie. I'm reading a huge biography on Hitler at the moment so it'd be good to put it in context with what I'm learning right now.
The Monuments Men? That looks fascinating! Thanks, Valia. I ditto smartypants' comments on both Damon and Clooney, but it should be worth it with Damon's acting in it.
(I am curious, Trusty, what is the name of the Hitler biography? This is probably a better question for the Books topic, though. )

"Hitler" by Ian Kershaw. A huge history of his life and the NSDAP from beginning to end (I think it's nearly 1000 pages in all). Decent read.
Thank you! *makes a note*
Looking at comingsoon.net's list for the next few months, there are very few films that pique my interest. Now, that is going solely by brief descriptions, and I am hoping something will be a stand-out eventually. Probably my favourite genre is excellently-done historical drama, which is why The Monuments Men sounds so appealing.

A movie due out in May that looks kind of cute: Moms' Night Out.

I think I will wait and see what the reaction is to Noah due out March 28th.
EDIT: Mom's Night Out is due out on Mother's day weekend here in the USA.

There is definitely no "a" in definite.
The Mind earns by doing; the Heart earns by trying.
I rarely watch films in theaters. I don't have the money. The last time I saw a film was in February 2011: VDT in a second-run theater. I prefer to wait for new releases on DVD at my church library and the public library. Here's what I'm really looking forward to seeing this year (on DVD).
12 Years a Slave
Alone Yet Not Alone
The Book Thief
The Christmas Candle
Monuments Men
Georgie Henley's newest film "Perfect Sisters" is now on demand (TV-14). It premieres in select theaters (North America) on April 11. Please watch it! Here's the trailer.
So, the Peanuts teaser trailer is up! The CGI is looking pr-r-retty good and from the tiny glimpse we get, the feel appears to be staying faithful to that beloved comic strip. Even the voices are right on! But we have to wait for the full release until November, 2015!

I have been looking over some of the coming movies, and found the trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy. I must admit to not ever reading the comics, so I don't really know the characters, but I must admit I am so far un-impressed.
While I am all for the continue of the Marvel Comics to Movie franchise, this seems a wast of time. Without getting into spoillers beyond what's already in the trailer, the main character "Starlord" who amounts to nothing more than a rude jerk, somehow inspires a group of misfits, ( including a female killer, and a revenge seeking muscleman, nothing we have seen before right? ) to band together to fight badder people than they are.
If Marvel comics wants to expand their "Universe" they would have been better served with some of the other heros.
I read Heaven is for Real (2010) yesterday. What an amazing testimony! In one chapter, Colton Burpo talked about seeing angels using swords to keep Satan out of heaven – after he and his family watched LWW on DVD. I hope they show this episode in the movie. “Heaven is for Real” (2014) premieres in theaters on April 16. Greg Kinnear plays Colton’s dad. Thomas Haden Church also appears.

@Puddleglum, I chuckled when I read your post because to be honest, I had the exact opposite reaction. I am so sick to death of superhero movies. I haven't seen the last several that have come out and have no plan to really because they're all the same... But Guardians of the Galaxy looked quirky and fresh and different. I'm kind of interested in it, but like all movies anymore, I'm waiting for reviews before I make a decision.
I'm kind of intrigued by this Jupiter Ascending movie coming up. It doesn't exactly look original, but it does look like it could be good and I like that type of storyline.
