Very cool, outlier! I'm quite anxious to see the first real trailer come out too, which should be in the next month or two I would think. :)

Ditto Shadow! Character posters tend to look too serious and cleaned up. :P It's all the photoshop. :P
But hopefully a full-length theatrical trailer will reveal more. *anticipates THG trailer even more, if that's possible*

By chance I saw the trailer for an upcoming WW2 movie called Red Tails about the Tuskeegee Airmen. It's George Lucas, so it's going to be loaded with CG...in fact the trailer looks almost blatantly CG ;)) Even so I love WW2 air combat and the T.A. were great pilots with the nicest paint jobs in the USAAC, so I'm willing to let the CG issue slide ;). Comes out sometime early next year.

Ooh, that looks interesting; I love me a good WWII movie. :) I think that's one I'll be putting on my short list of movies to see! :)

I saw an article recently that was tossing around ideas for something to play Grace Kelly. According to the article, January Jones, Carey Mulligan (??), Gweneth Paltrow, Blake Lively (noooooo). Thoughts?
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/artic ... -film.html

I really don't see how it could be any contest..January is practicly Grace's twin, and while some people really don't like her acting I think she's pretty steller. Her role on Mad Men is fabulous!

Brave is a movie that coming out the trailer doesn't say much it looks cool. I wish IMDB said more.

Im sure everyone knows that their working on producing The Hobbit, but I found out the other day just how awesome the picture is [supposed] to be. Peter Jackson bought 48 $58,000 Red Epic cameras, which comes out to a total of $2,784,000 worth of cameras, on top of the huge sums of money it takes to make a movie of any Tolkien book, which are quite obviously very complex.

no longer active. every once in a while ill pop back for the memories. good to see a few recognizable names 🙂

@Narnialuver Yeah I'd heard about that! It looks cool. I've seen every Pixar movie so far, so.... I'm definitely interested. (And I've loved them all, too.) :D

@Aslans_Jewel, the only reason I that the Hobbit isn't being discussed in this thread is because it has a whole separate thread where we've been talking about the latest production blog. (I assume that's what you're referencing as you're talking about the 3D cameras.)
The latest blog discussion starts here. :)

@narnialuver & Gildor_Inglorion, yeah, Brave is one of the few movies I'm really looking forward to next year. :)

I'm very much looking forward to Brave and The Hobbit.

Valiant_Lucy, I didn't think much of January Jones' acting until I saw Mad Men. She's made for that role!

TINTIN!

Have any European NarniaWebbers managed to see The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn movie yet? What are your thoughts?
(please use spoiler boxes for any specifics)

The Adventures of Tintin:
For those of you who don't know, The Adventures of Tintin are a series of comic albums (24 in total) written and illustrated by Belgian cartoonist, Herge. He created Tintin back in 1929 to report the evils of Bolshevik Russia during Joseph Stalin's reign (Tintin in the Land of the Soviets). Tintin's adventures came to a halt with the death of Herge in 1983. Tintin final adventure (Tintin and Alph-Art) was left unfinished. It was centered around a New Age con-artist guru and modern art. The series covers a variety of genres including mystery, adventure, suspense, thriller, political satire and science fiction (all with a heavy dose of humour).

(Le Secret de la Licorne published in 1943, English in 1959)
An introduction to Tintin:
In some ways Tintin is similar to Indiana Jones, but instead of being an rough archaeologist, he's a young straight-laced reporter/detective/adventurer. He travels the world, rights wrongs, fights villains and gangsters and lives to tell the tale. Tintin is accompanied by a middle-aged, violently tempered but loyal sailor, Captain Haddock who has a thing for alcohol and lots of it. Tintin's original companion is his pet dog, Snowy (called Milou in the French original, after Georges Remi Remi's (Herge's) first girlfriend). There are numerous other characters, many of them reoccurring through out the adventures.

(Le Trésor de Rackham le Rouge published in 1944, English in 1959)
From books to movie:
The Adventures of Tintin movie will not be a strict adaptation of any one Tintin adventure. It picks and chooses from three different comic albums. It will cover the majority of The Secret of the Unicorn and some of the sequel 'Red Rackham's Treasure', while weaving the stories together with a sizable portion of another adventure, 'The Crab with the Golden Claws'. Despite all of this, Steven Spielberg has promised that the movie will be true to Herge's characters and the spirit of the adventures.

(Le Crabe aux pinces d'or published in 1943, English in 1958)
Movie rating - PG:
The Adventures of Tintin is a family movie, meaning it's appropriate for audiences from 7 to 77 years old. The US content description is as follows:
PG for adventure action violence, some drunkenness and brief smoking.

A note to parents: If the movie is true to the original comic albums, the over-consumption of alcohol is never encouraged and in fact causes much trouble and danger for our heroes.

After seeing The Three Musketeers last week (excellent movie, see my review in Present Movies), only two previews got my attention. One was Sherlock Holmes 2 and the other was Tintin. I'm excited about both, but skeptical about theatrical access. Another movie also coming out in just a couple weeks that has my attention is Hugo. I loved Asa Butterfield in The Boy in the Striped Pajamas and Chloe Mortiz (sp?) from Kick-A**. I might be able to go see that one.

Be watching for the release of my spiritual warfare novel under a new title: "Call to Arms" by OakTara Publishing. A sequel (title TBD) will shortly follow.

I saw the trailers for TinTin and Hugo in front of Puss in Boots..... and I must say, although I wasn't previously interested in them, I certainly am now! :D Especially TinTin.

I'm also interested in The Lorax.

It's 'Tintin', not 'TinTin'. Do you see the way I and others here have been writing it? Sorry, it's just a pet peeve of mine and seems to happen too often for such a simple name. I'm glad you're interested in seeing the movie though.

Gil means no harm, I'm sure. :) To be fair Tintin is not well known here in the States. I've been around almost 40 years and I thought I had seen most cartoons, even some of the more uncommon ones here, like Asterisk and Rupert. Yet these are wildly popular comics and cartoons in other parts of the world. I had never heard of Tintin until I came to NWeb several years ago. I have absolutely no doubt that part of the confusion about the spelling and what not has to do with two things. The first is that there have been a number of series in the US in the past called Rin Tin Tin. Said character is a German Shepherd of some type usually in a protaganist role like cowboy (or cowdog in this case) and police dog. When people forget who the character is they just recycle it into a new series. Next it'll be Rin Tin Tin: Lifeguard Dog or Astronaut Dog. ;))

The other thing is that phonetically Tintin all but screams to some of us to capitalize that second T. There's a syllabic break in there between the two Tins and even as I write this I'm having to double check and triple check to make sure that I'm spelling it correctly ;)). So please be patient, with exposure to Tintin I'm sure that using the proper spelling will come with time. :)

Okay, I'll give you that one. I have a confession - I only heard about Rin Tin Tin about ten years ago. Yes, I know. I thought he was a rip-off of Tintin, that is until I found out he was created several years before him (and was a dog). :)
