@fantasia_kitty: The Julia Roberts/Lily Collins 'Snow White' looks a little to weird for my taste, but I'll still wait and see.
I'm more interested in Snow White and the Huntsman, I like the look of it more then the other, plus I like Chris Hemsworth.
@AslansChild: Yes I want to see Puss in Boots! I Love that cat!
We have a cat and we laugh evertime we see Shrek because Puss in Boots reminds us of her!
@Elanor: I remember a remake of My Fair Lady being mentioned as well, Ive not heard anything on it for a long time.
Wikipedia says that Keira Knightley is being replaced by actress Carey Mulligan to play Eliza Doolittle. It was reported that Daniel Day-Lewis was up for the role as Henry Higgins. I don't know how much of this is true though, so take it with a grain of salt.
(I haven't read the book yet, but from what I've heard) Is anybody else as skeptical about the Paradise Lost movie as I am?
I just have a feeling they are going to try and make people feel bad for Satan, I really hope I'm wrong, I just don't trust Hollywood.
Really excited for the Avengers Trailer on Tuesday! I have a feeling it will be only a little longer then the sneak peek that was at the end of Captain America though.
The Value of myth is that it takes all the things you know and restores to them the rich significance which has been hidden by the veil of familiarity. C.S. Lewis

Kind of surprised I'm the one posting this, but if you haven't already seen the Avengers trailer, it's now online.

Bleargh, I'd hate to see My Fair Lady remade. I'd much rather someone make a Pygmalion movie, one that actually sticks to the end Shaw wrote.
Here, Here! Freddy is much better for her.

What do you mean? I mean, how does the book end? I'd really like to read that. Is it considered a classic?
And by the way, they did make Pygmalion, that's what it's called. It's a black & white film with Leslie Howard as Higgins. (and he's pretty darn good too, I think I like him better than Harrison) It's an older movie, so natch, the effects are really up to par, but it's good.
As for the remake, who are Carey Mulligan & Daniel Day-Lewis? Can you post some pic's of them or name some films they were in? (I'm not really up on newer films)
All I can say is, they better not let Julie Andrews anywhere near that film!
She was really mean to Hepburn when she was in it. Not nice...
But seriously, I hope they keep the remake clean. And pick someone good for Eliza! (not that anyone could every replace Hepburn )

It's not a book, it's a play by George Bernard Shaw and one of his best known. It's available on Project Gutenberg if you want to give it a read. I downloaded it to my Kindle to read before I went to see my school's drama department put on the play last month. It's really quite good.
Neither the 38 film or My Fair Lady retain the original ending. Shaw actually told the play director who first changed the ending that he out to be shot for doing so.
In the Shaw's ending, Eliza doesn't reconcile with Higgins, they have a noisy fight and Eliza leaves triumphantly. Shaw wrote an epilogue of sorts that explains what happens after the play ends. Eliza marries Freddy and they end up opening a flower shop together. It ends with these lines:
But when it comes to business, to the life that she really leads as distinguished from the life of dreams and fancies, she likes Freddy and she likes the Colonel; and she does not like Higgins and Mr. Doolittle. Galatea never does quite like Pygmalion: his relation to her is too godlike to be altogether agreeable.
The new Avengers trailer showed up. And I'm rather happy with the results I'm seeing in it.

Just saw the trailer for The Avengers last night, myself. It's looks awesome! I can't wait for May.
Here's the American Tintin movie trailer. It's very exciting and a lot of fun. There's more story context than previous trailers, so be warned - it's spoiler-heavy. Enjoy!

American classification for Tintin:
The official US site lists the movie as being PG for 'Adventure Action Violence, Some Drunkenness and Brief Smoking'.
Nevermind that the series doesn't encourage heavy drinking. Didn't see that coming. ;P

Wow, Warrior4Jesus! The new trailer is amazing! The animation looked very impressive, something I am quite relieved about after being disappointed by the teaser trailer.
I am still bamboozled by the dam scene. I have no idea where that could fit in.

That doesn't really surprise me. If a movie didn't encourage cursing, but included some, the MPAA would consider that in the rating. But regardless of drunkenness reason or not, the movie still got a PG rating, so it didn't affect anything.
Yes, it's brilliant! Minotaur, it's great to hear that you're now looking forward to the movie.
At the very least French and Belgian critics seem to be giving it very favourable reviews.
Yes, the MPAA rating isn't surprising so much as (in my view) pedantic in it's detail of the movie content. But that's the MPAA, I guess.

Considering how popular Les Mis is on this forum, I kind of shocked no one has mentioned the new film adaptation in the works. Russell Crowe is signed on as Javert, Hugh Jackman as Jean Valjean, and Anne Hathaway is Fantine. The director is Tom Hooper, who directed The King's Speech. It's set to come out December of 2012.
Oh my! I hadn't heard about that, I think I'm excited. I can imagine Russel Crowe to be a good Javert, and I'll just cry my tears about Anne Hathaway. At least she's only Fantine. It'll probably be rated strongly (though I'll have some hope because of Tom Hooper - The Kings Speech was utterly clean except for language, which was crucial to the plot), but we'll see.
Oh, and does anyone else find it amusing that Helena Bonham Carter, and Geoffrey Rush are also in it (both were in TKS)?

Wow, I didn't know they were in it as well. I've never read the book, but with that cast, I'm definitely interested in the movie.
Bookwyrm: oh I heard about that! it sounds really cool! I love Les Miserables!
I have not read the book either, but I am obsessed with the musical and have seen the Liam Neeson version
Liam Neeson did a great job as Jean Valjean, but that version didn't, IMO, have enough of the story, particularly the barricade/revolution part, in it...
